Ant-man, the main one was a wife beater. He beat the shit out of The Wasp. Would the movies have ever have portrayed that side of the character? Not a chance in hell. Wait a minute! MCU made a wife-beater the main hero in 1 (and soon to be 2) of their movies?
Wow! MCU must really hate female superheroes. That would explain why MCU hasn't made a female-led superhero movie for a decade.
Well actually Hank Pym was the wife beater. The Ant-man they went with was Scott Lang though Hank Pym was still in the movie. I don't know why they went with Scott Lang over Hank Pym as he was always the main one, there might be a reason somewhere. Was it because the Hank Pym character was a wife beater and they didn't really want to associate that with the movies? I have no idea.

Yeah, that's the reason why they went with Scott Lang instead of Hank Pym. Also it was Edgar Wright's idea in the first place.

Lol at giving a serious reply to yet another pathetic attempt at putting down the MCU by DC-Fan (which is literally 100% of his posts on this board).

You're comparing a guy who sleeps with plenty of women to a wife-beater? At least Bruce Wayne doesn't refer to the women he sleeps with as "trash" like Tony Stark did when he told Pepper to "take out the trash".

At least Bruce Wayne doesn't refer to the women he sleeps with as "trash" like Tony Stark did when he told Pepper to "take out the trash". Pepper said that, it was in no way implied Tony felt that way. You're merely projecting your own issues with women onto Tony. And Hank never beat Janet in the movies. And if you're going to bring up that one time in the comics, Spider-Man did the exact same thing.

Pepper said that So in MCU, women are considered "trash" if they sleep around, but it's perfectly OK for a man to sleep around (like Tony Stark does). That would explain why MCU hasn't made a female superhero movie for a decade. MCU just hates female superheroes.

One character in a MCU movie called women who sleep around trash so that means the whole MCU considers women who sleep around trash. You got it bro.

What it the world coming to when even a movie about a shrinking man that can control ants isn't crafted with utmost seriousness?!
My only problem is that I found Lilly's character annoying in the first one.

Yawn. Here we go again. Does it get old constantly bashing successful movies? That is all you morons do on here. Ant-Man was wildly popular and entertaining, unlike any DCEU movie sans the extremely overrated Wonder Woman, which is somehow the #1 movie according to DC Fan. I am not sure what number one means since it was not #1 in box office or critical success.

Personally, I'm not saying there shouldn't be lots of humor in it, only that they should step their game up. Keep in mind that these are all made by individual creative teams. You can't just say they know what they're doing. Takia Watiti knows what he's doing with Thor. The Russos knew what they're doing with Cap and the Avengers... But Peyton Reed and Adam McKay with Ant Man? Not nearly as much.

What we got was actually a very different and entertaining comic book movie that was pretty much universally liked at the least. Sure, it is not TWS or The Dark Knight or anything, but it was fun and different.

So another movie that Marvel haters will claim is "just like all the others" while commenting in a thread about it being something different.
Well that's not surprising.

He was actually my favorite part of Civil War. Imagine if he got the same quality screenplay and director as Thor did in his last movie. I think Marvel probably thought the same as you and most others: It's Ant Man, a solid hit is all we can hope for. And I think that's a shame because he could be so much more.
