Here's the thing. They are NOT going to nominate more than one CBM a year for anything. There's still a bias against them because they're "silly kid stuff". Wonder Woman is the more significant of the two because of the feminist angle. But yeah, Logan is great movie too.

It's also missing Blade Runner 2049, John Wick: Chapter 2, Split, and some other actually good movies. Ugh, Blade Runner 2049 is missing from a lot of lists that have been coming out lately. Just before the movie came out the critics were cumming all over how good it was, then it flopped box-office wise and now everyone has forgotten about it. People have bad memories. BR2049 is an awesome movie that deserves to be remembered, and I honestly believe that it should be nominated as one of the best movies of this year.

Usually I reserve it whenever anyone is pompous enough to say "It's the best CBM ever! No excuses!" or "The entire MCU is worthless next to this film! All of it!".
Like DC Fans say about WW and Dark Knight.
That, and there are external reasons divorced from the actual quality of the film that served to augment the reason it got.
There are no “artificial boosters” for the movie. People just liked the film. You already know how I feel about Dark Knight, but for WW I think there are other factors beyond the movie (which is fairly standard stuff) giving it the reputation it has. Like it being the first decent DCEU film and critics not wanting to be seen as misogynists after the Ghostbusters backlash and now the Weinstein thing.

I'm gonna get Hell for this, but BR 2049 had it's share of problems.

Which, like I said, was partly because of the massive female demographic it drew despite having a fairly basic store, being decent next to the messes that were every other DCEU film (so critics burnt on those other movies were more willing to be nice to a decent DCEU film. Kid's Gloves treatment) and because of the misogyny fears after the whole Female Ghostbusters debacle.

Why are best of year lists coming out already when the year isn't even over...?

Why are best of year lists coming out already when the year isn't even over...? My exact same thoughts. There are still many movies coming out in the last weeks. Of course The Last Jedi, but also movies like The Greatest Showman. And many critics haven't yet seen movies like The Post & Phantom Thread. It doesn't seem logical to already make best of the year lists when multiple important movies still have to be released.

We also have 'All the Money in the World' coming out on Christmas that could certainly be a contender, especially with how much hard work went into it in the last month or so. So that makes for a total of 5 potentially great movies.

Which is a shame because it was so good. I also forgot to add it to my little list, but Baby Driver is an excellent movie that no one really talks about anymore.

Wonder Woman is the only movie on that list that I have even seen. I guess I'm not on the cutting edge of culture. (sarcasm)
