This was shown on the BBC on Christmas Day 1972 so counts as a Christmas Ghost Story with an added slice of science fiction. The acting is overdone at times and the effects are what you’d expect from a British TV production back then but it’s worth a watch.

Sally Ann Howes, “Truly Scrumptious” in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, passed away today at age 91. In honor, I’d like to repeat just how amazing the Christmas party sequence, starring a very young Miss Howes, is in Dead of Night (1945). Above I posted a link to the scene, or at least most of it, but I’m not sure if it only works for TCM subscribers. Nevertheless, the Christmas party sequence is one of the best cinematic Christmas ghost stories ever, and if you haven’t seen Dead of Night I highly recommend that you seek it out. (It’s one of the best horror movies ever made.)

Thanks, Al! I’ve listened to a few Christmas-set radio ghost stories (mostly Suspense)—I should listen to some more! Also, hope you have a merry Christmas!
