I've got plenty of spoilers and spoiler reviews to go by. It's worse than the awful I expected it to be... Ok, but what happens if when you finally see this movie (and we know you will) and you actually like it, regardless of the bad press? What then? Wouldn't you have to go back on your word? Your own informed opinion is always best.
Does Rey die? Does Finn die? Does Kylo die? Is Luke true to his OT self? If all of those things happen in TLJ, I'll enjoy it. Otherwise, I'm not invested in either the direction or new characters of the ST. It's an imitation and I don't enjoy it.

So wait... the only way you can enjoy this movie is if the MAIN characters they created for this new trilogy die?! That's a totally unreasonable and unrealistic expectation. Your opinions now matter even less to me. Ask for something reasonable and then we can talk.

So I'll find the film uninteresting. I'd like to see them killed off, that would be entertaining.

He is as interesting as you can get, honestly.

Agreed, I still think Kylo is one of the best characters in the history of the franchise. He isn't pure evil, he's as complicated a character as they've ever had.

I loved this movie. I do not get the insane amount of hate for it. Hmmm. reverse your comments and now you know how I felt watching The Phantom Menace for the first time. I hated that movie. I did not understand the insane amount of love for it. Star Wars fans heaped praise on it back in '99 and said the Pod Race scene was amazing and Darth Maul was the most bad ass villian ever. Then I watched the actual movie and it was mostly about a whiny brat with mystical powers and an annoying alien sidekick aimed at appealing to five year olds.

I still think The Phantom Menace is better than Attack of the Clones, but neither are very good movies at all.

I hated TPM and spoke with TONS of people who did too. There was a definite divide, as strong as anything TLJ is getting now.
Though Darth Maul is badass. Just poorly used. Here's my vote for: Maul- A Star Wars Story!

It's interesting, the things we perceive and those that we miss tell us so much about what we are. I above all saw a film about a demagogue who used greed, corruption and the suffering of his people to get himself elected Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. He did so by manipulating everybody to get rid of the reigning leader and using the sympathy bonus of having his homeworld occupied. At the end, the demagogues theme was played and sung by boys heralding the downfall of democracy. It's a intricate political plot puzzle starting, as so often in history, with disputed taxation and ending with "democracy dying with thunderous applause, a first act to a larger play of dystopian downfall. Yet you only saw "whiny brats" and "annoying aliens". Well, as they say in the film, your "Focus determines your reality" indeed.

The movies were original and very smart if you look into them. They were just acted horribly and the dialogue was terribly written, for the most part.

Some performances like Palps and Obi Wan were IMO great, some were good like say Qui Gon, Dooku or Jango, and others less so like Padme and the Anakins, probably Jar Jar. Still, I would not say that say Jedi had significantly better performances overall, I cringe at some of the deliberately cheesy OT acting too.
As for the dialogue, Lucas' SW dialogue is corny with some extra cheese. It's not Shakespeare. But at the same time it is iconic and immensely quotable - because it's unique. You will hardly find as many memorable, identifiable (bad) quotes in other franchises as in Lucas-SW dialogue. The PT is no exception here: Starting with There is Always a Bigger Fish and ending with Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND priceless I like that corny quote, and used it several times myself, pisses people off to no end (unless SW fans then they usually love it).
Quote got a lot of fanboy heat bc ppl do not understand the ancient military subtext (uphill battle etc). But what Obi Wan likely means is that he is morally superior to Anakin, and that he is in the right, rather than a tactical attack assessment.
