Sure.
55% on RT
4.8/10 on Metacritic
7.8 on Imdb (in the first week despite protective allgorithms!)
Burning dumpster fire on the forums.
Not a backlash against the movie. Must be a troll conspiracy of 200 heinous individuals hating on Star Wars and women (many of them having their home base here).
Believe.

Just saying there was manipulation. That is fact. If it altered the score I don't know. Probably not, but you can't deny it.

How can you be sure the guy claiming to have made the bot isn't doing so for notoriety? How can you be certain it's also affecting metacritic? CONSPIRACY!!

What a bunch of assholes. TEXT: One source of the "trolling" in question might have been from a Facebook page dedicated to taking down "Disney's Treatment of Franchises and Its Fanboys." The page has around 200 followers. "Thanks to friends of mine who taught me a thing or two about Bot Accounts, I used them to create this audience score through Facebook accounts created that subsequently logged into Rotten Tomatoes who rigged this score and still keep it dropping," a Sunday morning post reads. After Bleeding Cool and Vanity Fair reported on the claim made through this Facebook account, the user posted more assertions about the bot-use. "I actually did use Bots," one post said. "Yes, it is that easy to manipulate Rotten Tomatoes and thus influence the mindless sheep out there," another said. "Give me a holla if a big second week drop happens!" www.thisisinsider.com/star-wars-last-jedi-backlash-rotten-tomatoes-bots-2017-12

It would perhaps restore my faith in Star Wars fans who hate on this very good movie, but I have seen too many posters trash the film to think otherwise.

Yeah, but don't let a few people in a board be your guide. If so I would have to hate the MCU.

So all of a sudden TLJ is the first movie that's having it's audience scores being drastically manipulated by bots and trolls?
Yeah right?

Oh the poor giant corporation Disney that gets tax subsidies from countries.
Remember that ad for the Force Awakens that had Luke saying "the Force is strong in my family...and you have it.."
False advertising. It implied the character was going to speak in the movie and also that he was close to his old self.

Yeah, but don't let a few people in a board be your guide. If so I would have to hate the MCU. Indeed, don't just go to this board. Go to imdb and start reading user reviews. While it currently enjoys a pretty decent rating, a lot of people who actually took the time to write a real review hated it. I only skimmed through about the first 200 and 90% of those 200 were 4 stars or less. Of that 90%, roughly half gave 1 star. There are a lot of fans who hated this movie. The casual movie-goer loved it. Hooray for popcorn films as Taylor said in another thread.

Don't people have anything better to do? Don't you? Yes, that's my point. Some people have Facebook pages where they plan massive zero ratings lol Also the same thing happened but in reverse for some dceu movies.

Just read some of the reviews on RT...they're all unique. In fact, some of the positive ones are so short to wonder if those weren't generated by a bot?
4.5 stars: "Everything a Star Wars movie should be." 5 stars: "Loved it! Bold and entertaining from beginning to end." 5 stars: "It is amazing, it really gives you a couple of surprises that will shock you"
sure, there are short 1/2 star reviews as well, but most are like what I've quoted below.
I have a really hard time believing it's bots writing things like this:

I bet there's going to be another article that informs us the comments supporting the argument that TLJ isn't widely accepted by fans were also generated by bots.

I have a really hard time believing it's bots writing things like this: While many of his complaints are justified, this review sucks. People just nitpick EVERYTHING today. I can make a review like this about ANY movie ever made. Seriously any one, no matter how good. Also, people keep misinterpreting the Luke/Kylo flashback scene. It makes me think they did not pay attention at all during the film. It is not "the reason Kylo is evil." That is dumb and was never even remotely implied. Luke has been noticing conflict and darkness in Kylo for a while during his training. He entered his hut one night when he was sleeping to look into his soul. He was shocked by what he saw. It was way worse than he ever imagined and, for a slight moment, he pulled his saber. Before he could strike, he changed his mind and realized it was not the answer. It was too late. Kylo saw him and reacted. Luke literally narrated the scene and explained this exactly, yet you guys still do not understand for some reason.

From my own personal experience with Star Wars fans (and of course being one myself) as well as the reactions seen on this board, it's clear that the movie is divisive. It isn't just bots downvoting it on the internet, the movie has plenty of genuine detractors, myself included. I've discussed what I don't like about the film enough already, so I'm not getting into it again. But I will say conspiracy theories are the most generic form of denial in a discussion on any subject. It's the reverse of the argument that studio plants are the only reason a particular movie gets favorable reviews. You really don't think it's possible that a lot of people disliked TLJ?
My personal dilemma: the two TLJ shirts I bought before seeing the film are too great not to wear ever again. It's going to be awkward when someone inevitably brings up the film while I'm wearing the t-shirt and I have to say, "Oh yeah, it sucked."
