I loved that show back when it aired! Haven't watch a episode since the end of season 10, so i wonder how it'll hold up now. It still holds up really good now. My Wifey and I re-watched it again recently and it is heaps better than any of the Arrowverse shows and I sometimes think the Arrowverse would be better if they had made the original spinoffs of 'Green Arrow' and 'Supergirl' with Justin Hartley and Laura Vandervoort instead of rebooting everything. There were multiple spinoffs that sadly never went through including Zatanna and Martian Manhunter TV shows. It is just a shame we didn't get to see the Black Canary more 'cause they were going to make her one of the season regulars near the end but the actress was too busy doing 'Stargate Universe' and couldn't do both.

What do you think of Supergirl in Season 7? I liked their version more 'cause it is a lot more closer to the comic book version of the character than the version we have in the current 'Supergirl' and there was originally going to be a 'Supergirl' spinoff with Laura Vandervoort and Laura Vandervoort gave up a number of leading roles in other TV shows including the lead in 'Haven' (which she later appeared in as a guest star) 'cause she was told it was going to go through but they didn't go through with it in the end.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but Season 7 was the best season. It was an entire season devoted to the Superman mythology without many MOTW episodes and it worked great. Kara in Smallville will always be Supergirl to me. She was great in it. I agree that this show is light years better than any of the CW DC shows now. I really am enjoying it. I am on Season 8 right now.

I won't say too much or I will spoil it for you but Season 9 in my opinion was the best season of the entire show and their version of Zod was awesome. Season 8 has some changes with the cast as you would have noticed and the introductions of other DC superheroes and there are episodes with the Legion of Superheroes and the Justice Society of America that were written by Geoff Johns. It is light years ahead of the current Arrowverse shows and Laura Vandervoort was heaps better as Kara and was far more like the comic book version of Kara Zor-El than Melissa Benoist version whose personality is more like Clark's than Kara's. Justin Hartley's Green Arrow was more in line with the comic book version too.

It was a tremendous episode and maybe the best of the series. I also really like the one where Clark tells Lana his secret and she dies and he goes back and reverses it. The one with Lex in a coma was great too, but I feel this might have actually been the best episode. It sucks though that she forgets his secret now. Chloe has honestly become my favorite character after Clark too.

Have you seen 'Smallville's versions of Zatanna, Hawkman, Black Canary, Stargirl, Doctor Fate, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle and what did you think of them? I heard a lot of people didn't like Serinda Swan as Medusa in 'The Inhumans' but I think she was great as Zatanna and I remember reading there was a 'Zatanna' spinoff show talked about back then but it sadly never went through. The latter seasons of 'Smallville' have a lot of good characters and villains and some people stopped watching when Lex and Lana left the show and missed out on them. I won't spoil anything for you in case you aren't up to it yet but Chloe does get her memory back eventually and goes on to have a relationship with a certain green archer which was miles better than Olicity.

It is a great show which was really popular here in the 90s. You should definitely check it out if you have never watched it. Dean Cain is still my favourite Clark Kent/ Superman, Teri Hatcher is my favourite Lois Lane and Justin Whalin is my favourite Jimmy Olsen. I don't know if you have watched 'Supernatural' but you will notice a very young Jensen Ackles in the first season which is where the executive producer of Supernatural, Robert Singer first met him.

I said good riddance. I hated her character. She was hot. That was about the extent of what I liked about her. She has nothing on Chloe and Lois as far as women on the show go. Chloe has not gotten with Oliver yet. I know they eventually get married and have a son. Keep in mind that I have seen this show before when it originally aired. However, I forget almost everything. I remember little snippets, but I cannot remember what happens. I think I remember Lex coming back for the finale or something, but I do not even remember that for sure. I loved Lex's character. He was my favorite, but Tess is a great character too. I liked Canary a lot. I liked Zatanna even more. I really like Zod so far. I like that he is younger here and not quite full evil yet. It adds an interesting dynamic to the show. I also wish that Batman vs. Superman would have focused more on Doomsday and not wasted him as some kind of troll monster. He is great on Smallville. I love the dynamic of a good human clashing with the evil beast trying to get out like a Jekel/Hyde type story arch. I will be sad when I finally finish the show. Onto Altered Carbon next.

I know this sounds nuts, but I kind of prefer Smallville to other super hero shows. Sure, Daredevil is probably better, but this show is entertaining as heck. I prefer it to the entire Arrowverse and most of the Netflix Marvel stuff. It is just fun and even when it is cheesy, the main characters are still great.

I love the dynamic of a good human clashing with the evil beast trying to get out like a Jekel/Hyde type story arch. I will be sad when I finally finish the show. Onto Altered Carbon next. Oh. I agree. I didn’t hate Lana but I was glad when they wrote her off the show at the end of Season 7 ‘cause I just found her on and off relationship with Clark went on for far too long and become boring and repetitive after they broke up and got back together for the 999th time. I actually would have preferred if they had Clark with Alicia for a while but they sadly killed her off just when they brought her back the following season but she showed Chloe Clark’s secret before she died which gave Clark somebody new to share his secret with after Pete Ross left. Clark was better with Lois and I always knew the two of them were going to end up together at the end ‘cause they’re one of the most iconic couples in comic book history but for some unknown there were some extreme Chloe fans that were dead set on having Clark end up with Chloe to the point where they came up with conspiracy theories that Chloe was the real Lois Lane and threatened to kill themselves when they took Chloe out of the show for a few episodes. I liked Chloe. She was a good character (and a LOT better than Felicity in 'Arrow') but I didn't think Clark and her were right for each other.
Tess was a great addition in the later seasons and I am not sure if you are up to the episode where she finds out who she really is but Tess is actually in 'Supergirl' now under her real name. The only really disappointing thing to me with 'Smallville' was some of the big fight scenes at the end of the seasons like the one between Clark and Doomsday after he separated Doomsday from Davis but I heard that had a lot to do with the budget and if they had a bigger budget we most likely would have seen a bigger fight scene between Clark and Doomsday. I like how they added the human part though 'cause it allowed Doomsday to get around in the day without being noticed and I was hoping they would have gone with something like that in 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' but with Doomsday having a human form that was aware he was a monster and could change back and forth anytime he wanted but what they did with Doomsday in 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' was awful and they basically just made him a mindless minion of Lex Luthor. In a lot of the comic books I have I read with Doomsday he had a personality and was his own character. When Gog killed Superman Doomsday become a superhero and helped humans and he sacrificed himself to bring Superman back.

I also agree about the Doomsday fight. It was built up all season and then nothing. I loved the one scene I just watched last night when Clark rescued Chloe from Checkmate. It was a slow motion scene where he took out all of the guards and it was really well done. Sure, the show has its fair share of cheese, but I love it. I am almost finished season 9. It will be sad when I finish this show. I am going to watch Altered Carbon next.

**somewhat spoilery for the show below if you haven’t watched it** It was great to see how Clark used his powers for many different things.
It was incredible to see him use his
heat vision to cut open Chloe's shoulder to remove a tracking chip, which she thought was a bomb. I too enjoyed when he’d use his powers in different ways and they’d sometimes get quite imaginative with how he’d utilize them. I also thought it was funny (but understandable) how he named his powers what *he* wanted and wouldn’t be swayed by any naysayers. And when he tossed the tractor was quite amusing too. James Marsters was good as BranicIndeed he was. He also got one of the best entrances of any character on the show, I thought (at the end of the Season 5 premiere ‘Arrival’). Hawkman (way, WAY better than the boring version we got in DC's Legends of Tomorrow)Oh yes, they definitely should’ve gotten Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1 aka Michael Shanks back as Carter Hall in LoT. Despite his wannabe Batman growly voice as Hawkman, at least he was more entertaining (and had a fun dynamic with the SV version of Oliver Queen). I cannot believe I am saying this, but Season 7 was the best season. It was an entire season devoted to the Superman mythology without many MOTW episodes and it worked great. Kara in Smallville will always be Supergirl to me. She was great in it.This is so weird, as back during the old IMDB days on the SV board, I felt like I was one of the few who enjoyed Season 7. It’s good to hear others liked it as much as I did. Yes, LV/Kara might’ve had something to do with my overall enjoyment of the season, but I can’t say there were too many episodes that I outright hated (whereas in the earlier seasons, and the last few seasons of the show, there certainly were a fair few I really disliked). I do think that, given how many episodes there was per season and how long the show ended up running for, it was inevitable that there’d be quite a few not-good episodes. Still, it’s a show I have rewatched at least a couple of times the whole way through. There’s some really good moments/scenes/episodes, characters, etc sprinkled throughout the series. I also really enjoyed Erica Durance’s Lois Lane (FAR more than the DCEU version of the character). I liked her dynamic with Clark. I also really enjoyed Clark and Chloe’s friendship. Michael Rosenbaum as Lex was indeed the stand-out in the show (and Rosenbaum’s quite hilarious on the commentaries for episodes). Also, the show’s 100th episode (and what happens in it regarding Jonathan) really got to me when I watched it. The ending is so well done. Even more emotional, I thought, was the ending to the following episode. Not many shows have managed to have that sort of impact for me (not even BtVS or AtS). It was nice to meet John Schneider at the Supanova convention here (though that was a long time ago now). Cassidy Freeman was also quite nice to meet.

One minor thing that is bothering me this season (Season 9) is that Chloe and Tess have fought twice. Both times they were very close fights. This is crap to me. I said before that I love Chloe's character, so this is not a knock on her, but seriously? Tess is a trained fighter and has been shown many times to be a bad ass in hand to hand combat and with weapons. Chloe has no such training and she is a tech girl. How is this even close? Tess can hold her own against Oliver. Minor nitpick I know, but still.

There was also that one time in Season 7's 'Siren' when Lex suddenly picked up fighting skills and was able to go toe-to-toe with Green Arrow.

It will be sad when I finish this show. I am going to watch Altered Carbon next. I am not sure why either but some fans were very deadset on having 'Smallville' end with Clark and Chloe getting together and they hated on Lois all the time and said Lois had no chemistry with Clark and was like a sister to him when I think it was the opposite way and I am glad they didn't listen to them like the writers of 'Arrow' have with Olicity fans. Chloe was a great character though and they acknowledged her existence in 'Supergirl' this season and I am hoping they add her to future Superman movies so Clark have his best friend and Lois has her cousin. I am not sure what episodes you are up to now but I have to warn you not to get your hopes up about the Clark and Darkseid fight either 'cause much like the Clark and Doomsday fight it was very disappointing and I won't tell you what happens if you haven't seen it but I would say it was another victim of the low budget in the later seasons. Still, I think they managed to go quite well with a small budget with some characters and villains and none of the Arrowverse shows have had aliens that have looked as good as Doomsday did and it is funny when a show with a small budget beats a big Hollywood movie with their version of a character when Warner Bros had all the money under the sun compared to 'Smallville' and messed up the characters.
I remember the Checkmate episode and I am pretty sure that was right around the time Martian Manhunter got his powers back and I assume you have seen the 'Justice Society of America' double episode now too. My one problem with 'Season 9' is when they showed Lois in the future where Zod and the other Kandorians had taken over is why Clark didn't turn to Supergirl and Martian Manhunter for help along with other superheroes like Zatanna, Aquaman, Black Canary etc. Together they could have taken on Zod and his army. Heck, Martian Manhunter could have covered himself in Kryptonite and taken them all down or Zatanna could have stripped them of their powers and wiped their minds. That to me is my one biggest problem with the season and it didn't make sense.

I have always really liked Chloe, but never wanted her with Clark. Lois gets with Clark. Not sure why this would be a heated debate among fans. She is awesome in every way and my second favorite character on the show after Clark.

I still enjoy it, but it seems to be dragging its feet waiting to end. I am about half way through season ten now. I agree about the monsters looking cool. One reason I think is because they do not show much. They let you use your imagination, which always works better. Clark and Lois have no chemistry? That is hilarious. They ooze chemistry more than maybe any on-screen couple I have ever seen. Those people were off their rocker. I am hoping for a very solid ending here. I just feel this season has not been as fleshed out as previous.

I can’t get over how they trod on canon. Lex lives in Smallville, Lex knew Clark and was acquainted with him before he becomes Superman, Clark meets every DC hero before he became Superman.
It has a nifty opening track and may be guilty fun but I didn’t care for the writing. Plus just let him be Superman if you want to throw in all the DC characters.
I prefer S:TAS for my serialised Superman fun.
