I watched Smallville when it originally aired through its entire run. I am actually rewatching the series now and just started season 4. I still really enjoy this show. Sure, it is cheesy as heck, but there is a lot of good in there too. It is really fun to watch if you are a Superman fan and dare I say it is some of the best Superman we can get. Since the original movie, they can never seem to get him right. I feel they did here. Stand out has to be Michael Rosembaum as Lex. He pretty much makes the show.
I will say that it can be EXTREMELY cheesy at times. I can see that the modern CW DC shows follow this same formula, only they are WAY worse with it. Some notes, I serious hate Lana. Sure, she is gorgeous, but that only takes someone so far. She is cringe worthy so many times I am surprised she was on the show for so long. I loved how she learned to be a badass fighter in five minutes. Seriously, she hit a bag for five minutes and could all of the sudden fight people using Kung Fu. Also, she never listens to Clark. Sure, he lies to her all of the time about his powers and that could be annoying, but she NEVER believes him when he tries to help her. She always thinks he is just making it up and jealous, even though that is totally out of character for him. Then, once she makes yet another dumb mistake, she confronts Clark and admits she was wrong. She promises to trust him from now on because he is the one who always looks out for her........until the next episode or so when she does it again.

Not sure why, But I wasn't a big fan of Lana either. Stand out has to be Michael Rosembaum as Lex. He pretty much makes the show. Yes. Lex was great... dare I say it is some of the best Superman we can get. Since the original movie, they can never seem to get him right. I completely agree. I love Smallville, and I too think they got the essence of Superman correctly. Sometimes, Superman has been portrayed a being "perfect", and that gets old, so. I enjoyed how Clark made mistakes from time to time while he was growing up... The scene where he talks to Martha about how he wanted to kill Titan, really emphasized that. It was great to see how Clark used his powers for many different things. It was incredible to see him use his heat vision to cut open Chloe's shoulder to remove a tracking chip, which she thought was a bomb.

I have seen them though, I just forget them. It is crazy how I barely remember any of the episodes even though I saw them when they aired originally. It is almost like watching it for the first time again, even though I know how it ends.

Only saw a few episodes and that was enough. But I remember thinking if future theatrical movies thought of using Lana Lang as the love interest for once. I mean, we got a cameo of young Lana in MoS. Perhaps when Adams' contract is done, they'll bring her back.

Michael Rosenbaum was defiantly the best thing about this show. Most eps feel irrelevant to the series. I ll admit I did like seeing live action versions of Aquaman,Cyborg,Flash(Bart Allen). James Marsters was good as Branic and I liked how Bizzaro is played by Tom Welling.p

Since she's been brought up before, I'll keep it going and suggest Alexandra Daddario.

I liked how Bizarro is played by Tom Welling.p Yes, I loved how they did Bizarro on the show... The idea of Bizarro being able to pretend to be Clark, made his character all the more interesting. I wish Bizarro had been a recurring enemy though. Just the those two story lines they did, wasn't enough.

I’ve only seen a few episodes, and it’s about as corny as a live-action superhero show from the early 2000s possibly could be. I’m not calling that good or bad, but damn is the show goofy.

I agree that it is. The show is like 60% cheese, but the other 40% is some of the best Superman stuff put on screen so I put up with it.

I love 'Smallville.' Season 4 with Braniac and Season 9 with Zod were by far my favourite seasons and I loved their versions of Supergirl, Zatanna, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Hawkman (way, WAY better than the boring version we got in DC's Legends of Tomorrow), Stargirl, Aquaman, Cyborg, Doctor Fate, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Mera, Booster Gold etc. The episodes written by Geoff Johns were the best in my opinion.

Season 3 was noticeably better than the rest so far IMO. Most reviews say Season 4 is the worst season actually, but it is fine to me so far. I really like Lois.

I remember the main problem with this show as I rewatch. The overall mythology of the show is great and when they follow that it can be very entertaining television. However, every now and then they have these terribly cheesy episodes that go off on a tangent during the season. This is to be expected when the show is 22 episodes long a season. Early on, these episodes were few. As I go on, they are doing them more and more. Therefore, only like 10 episodes out of the 22 will be decent. Still good enough to keep me watching, but Jesus the Lana stuff is so annoying. The entire witch storyline is dreadful. She also becomes a vampire at one point. They just were trying to find stuff for her to do at this point. Lois and Chloe are SO much better.

I just watched the episode in season 7 where Pete Ross returns. Jesus he is terrible. Thank God he left the show. Also, can someone teach Clark how to fight? If he did not have his powers he would get beat up by a 10 year old girl. Imagine if he went to an MMA gym for a few years or something. Anytime he fights someone else with powers they just push each other around.

Funny thing is it makes sense as to why he cant learn properly because all it takes is a moment and he could punch a hole through someone's head, also as they showed in the series early on powered up Clark is like punching reinforced steel, hard to hide you have powers when a single blow by another guy could break his hand.
This would have been an interesting thing they could have done though, especially in the later seasons as we know Clark can lose his powers and that Jor-El specifically can remove them from him so Clark could have had been getting trained without his powers, could have made for a fun if silly episode prior to Lois finding out about Clark's powers if she noticed blood stained clothes or a towel and Clark blew it off, so she spends the ep trying to find out what he's doing, Chloe thinks it's hero related and tries running interference but in the end turns out Clark's just joined a mma gym or something.

I loved that show back when it aired! Haven't watch a episode since the end of season 10, so i wonder how it'll hold up now.

Yeah but he has shown many times that he can control his powers. He can pretend to get hit. He did it all the time when he played football. I just wish maybe like Oliver could teach him how to fight or something.
