12 O'Clock High (1949) - interesting movie about American bomber pilots in England, well made for the time, not quite the film I expected, is more psychological than actual bombing missions, but it does have some of that, too...Gregory Peck is outstanding in the lead, very good supporting cast, I'd give it a very solid 8/10

I'm currently watching on the channel COMET the TV Movie - Paper Man from 1971 . This progress yet on the edge of your seat storyline for this movie is really most effective . Also with an all star cast and eerie music scores throughout really does hold the viewers interest ( and even though I have watched it before it was definitely worth watching again ) . I absolutely give this classic discovered treasure a rating of 10 here as well .

The Departed.
Excellent, gripping, and enthralling from start to finish. So many details, twists, turns and it all wraps up so perfectly. Definitely on Scorcese’s top 5. If I had to rank them it would go:
1. Wolf of Wall Street 2. Taxi Driver 3. Goodfellas 4. Silence 5. The Departed
Anyway, 9/10.

Rango 5/10 (maybe a 6, idk). Not as good as I remember it being, unfortunately.
Howl’s Moving Castle 6/10. A very good film, especially from a technical standpoint. I’ve been watching some Studio Ghibli films this past year and my fragile American mind has been blown away by how creative and imaginative these movies can be. This one is no different; it’s creative, the visuals and animation are stunning and I got sucked into the world the Miyazaki presented (as I always do). But while it’s a good movie I don’t think it’s that good of a Miyazaki movie. For my preference, studio Ghibli is at its best telling simplistic stories through the eyes of an innocent child. With films like ‘Howl’s moving castle,’ as the story and scope increase it loses some of the charm and delight I found in movies like ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ and ‘Grace of the Fireflies.’ Still, it’s a good film just not Studio Ghibli’s best.

Finally saw Unbreakable
"Do you know what the scariest thing is? To not know your place in this world, to not know why you're here." Damn such a fantastic ending. 7/10 I think, though the ending makes me want to go up to an 8. Silly but in a good way, really enjoyed this one.

I watched the Rifftrax presentation of 'Krull' last night. The movie was a mixed bag -- generally likable cast, some pretty cool design and costume, but poor special f/x (although the ice spider was cool) and generic sub-LotR fantasy storytelling. I give it a C plus. B minus for the Rifftrax presentation. One of their funnier shows in some time, although still seems a bit removed from the MST3K glory days.
