I love watching movies from different countries. As a resident of a city with a few different film festivals, I've had the opportunity to see movies from all over the world. I will attempt to list the countries: Latin America:Mexico, Brazil, Argentina: too many to count Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Chile: probably fewer than 10 from each Uruguay, Venezuela, Dominican Republic: < 5 Paraguay: only one that I can remember, but a very good thriller with black humour www.imdb.com/title/tt2333598/referenceI think I watched one movie from Costa Rica once, but I could be mixing it up with a different Central American country. Africa:South Africa: fewer than 10 Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia: < 5 from each Senegal, Burkina Faso: one that I can remember I don't think I've ever watched a movie from any other African country Europe:Spain, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Russia: too many to count France, Italy, UK: WAY too many to count 10 to 20: Belgium Ireland Denmark Czech Republic Serbia, Croatia and former Yugoslavia Romania 5 to 12: Norway Netherlands Iceland Finland, Hungary Portugal Fewer than 5: Austria Switzerland Greece Baltic countries Asia:Japan, South Korea: Way too many to count India, Hong Kong, China: too many to count Taiwan: probably between 10 and 20 Turkey, Israel, Iran: fewer than 10 Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Lebanon: fewer than 5 Indonesia: as far as I can remember, just "The Raid" and "The Raid 2" Cambodia: just one, in the same vein as "The Raid" Saudi Arabia: just one Oceania:Australia: too many to count New Zealand: probably around 10 Then there is Canada, of course, but I live here, so I have watched countless Canadian films.

France (Amour, Brotherhood of the Wolf, half of Kristin Scott Thomas' filmography) Australia (Mad Max, Wolf Creek, Adore, Chopper, Gallipoli) New Zealand (Eagle vs. Shark, What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt For the Wilderpeople) UK (Snatch, Trainspotting, Attack the Block, '71, Submarine) Ireland (The Field, My Left Foot, Waking Ned Devine, The Young Offenders) Germany (Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Das Boot) Spain (Talk To Her, Pan's Labyrinth, Biutiful) Italy (Suspiria, Life Is Beautiful, Malèna) Sweden (Let The Right One In, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, My Life As a Dog, The 100-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared) Norway (Dead Snow, Trollhunter, Cold Prey, Kon-Tiki) Finland (Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, Big Game, Iron Sky) Denmark (The Hunt, Nymphomaniac, Melancholia) Japan (Godzilla, Ringu, Ju-On) South Korea (The Host, Oldboy, Okja) China (The Great Wall, Hero, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle) Mexico (Y Tu Mamá También, We Are What We Are)
At first I thought you meant what countries have you been to the movies in. I was in Mexico and went to see The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I was in Puerto Rico for the first movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and in Port Canaveral, Florida for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Being from Canada, this means I saw every LOTR movie on the big screen in a foreign country. I would have done the Harry Potter series as well, but it was taking too long, only saw the first three abroad.

Great topic!!
I love watching movies from every decade from all sorts of countries.. It's a great way to compare and contrast not only movies, but how they live, language, even the little things.. I'd like to list my favorite foreign movies with hopes of recommendations, considering we have many enthusiastic experts from ALL over the world.
"La Strada" "The Battle of Algiers" "La Grande Illusion" "Umberto D" "The Seventh Seal" "Shoeshine" "Ikiru" "Bicycle Thieves" "Shadows in Paradise" "Rashomon" "Seven Samurai" "Sunflower" "A Taste of Cherry" "Knife in the Water" "Wild Strawberries" "Bad Boy Bubby" "Never On Sunday" "Loneliness of a Long-Distance Runner" "Le Jour Se Le Vie" "The Perfect Day" "The Collector" "La Terra Trema" "Pather Panchali" "M" "Naked" "I, Daniel Blake" "The Cranes Are Flying" "La Promesse" "Whity" "Kapo" "A Woman In the Dunes" "Lies My Father Told Me" "The Working-Class Goes To Heaven"
and many, many other movies...
Countries that I know of... I've rated over 4,000 movies, and didn't start paying attention until a few years ago.
United States Italy Germany France USSR Sweden Finland Poland England Scotland Ireland Wales Brazil India Turkey Iran Jordan Lebanon Hungary Canada Australia New Zealand China Japan Greece Mexico
Of course, there are the co-productions I haven't named, countries that no longer exist, etc etc....

Very few.
The countries I've seen films from are: United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Denmark, former Czechoslovakia, Russia, Italy. If anime counts then also Japan. Maybe one or two other countries.

You should try some South Korean movies! They make some great thrillers (but not only thrillers). Argentina is another reliable source of good movies.

I thought there would be more, but these are the ones that came up: 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days Sierra Nevada Tuesday After Christmas Dupa Dealuri 12:08 East of Bucharest Cea Mai Fericita fata din lume And also three Radu Mihaileanu movies, but I guess those would be more French than Romanian. I liked all of them to different extents, except "Sierra Nevada", which I would have liked if it were 100 min long instead of 173. At almost three hours it was unbearable.

I don't think I have watched any Korean movie made before 2000 or so. They make very good thrillers and action movies - I don't know if that's your thing. There are also many historical movies. Best known Korean directors are I think: Bong Joon-HoPark Chan-WookKim Ki-DukThat would be a good place to start. If you are not averse to zombie movies, the recent "Train to Busan" is fantastic. It is not gory, it's just an insane thrill ride.

Oh, don't get me started on Sierra Nevada Or Cristi Puiu for that matter. Some new age Romanian movies are better liked outside of Romania. We kinda got sick of so called "minimalism"
