For best adapted screenplay, a very prestigious category. So Logan becomes the first CBM to get nominated in a serious category since The Dark Knight. I think it should also have been in the Best Picture one as a film like Get Out is incredibly overrated. Best Supporting for Patrick Stewart too.
Too bad Fox sold out, we wont be getting Oscar calibre CBMs like this once they get taken over.

Keep super hero movies out of the Best Picture cat.
They dont belong there.
Glad the Oscars got it right

Logan and GOTG 2 received 1 Oscar nom today. In fact, they're the only 2 superhero movies to receive some Oscar recognition.
And Get Out was fantastic.

WW already won prices such as Critic's choice awards. It's only fair that Logan gets a nod too, if not in a major category, at least outside of the purely technical awards.

Wow, so you folks care deeply about the Oscars. its telling but the nom says a lot. it says Logan was actually considered for best picture until they remembered it was a comic book movie and shut it out because the screenplays are the next big thing to best picture and best director and 99% of the time, whoever wins for screenplay wins for best picture.
oh well, congrats. its huge for comic films , all the work the xmen movies and Nolan batman movies did aka making smart, serious comic films paid off with Logan...until MCU takes over and kills X-Men. Logan will live on. Honourable mentions to Batman Begins, X2, DOFP , V for Vendetta and TDKR. Bring on Matt Reeves Batman.

Yeah, Im sure 5000+ voting members who are all so invested into comic book movies voted for Logan because it was a relativly B list actor getting a send off in a genre they dont consider to be worthy of Oscar calibre representation. The more likely scenario is that all of them selected the film on its merit and majority decided it was up there with 4 other films for its catergory because of its quality.

Yeah, Im sure 5000+ voting members who are all so invested into comic book movies voted for Logan because They're sweet on Swan Song flicks. Same reason Unforgiven was seen as some great never-before Deconstruction flick when truth is the Western had already been brutally deconstructed 20 years earlier in The Wild Bunch. But it was Eastwood's last Western, so the Academy went easy.

Fair enough. I will await the last film with Robert Downey Junior as Ironman and see if it gets the same combined love as Logan by the fans, critics and academy.

That's pretty awesome. It's definitely a step in the right direction for comic book movies!
Hopefully Chris Nolan gets an Oscar, he was definitely robbed of it with The Dark Knight!

Depends on if that movie will respect all the other MCU characters or if it will kill off absolutely everyone so the Universe can be about Iron Man and only Iron Man. And permanently end things so there can never be other MCU movies because they don't do AUs, just one timeline.

So thats the only parameter we will judge when RDJ makes his final appearance. Doesnt matter if he dies or retires and goes off screen. And Logan's ending doesnt mean the end. They still have plans for an X23 movie so it didnt permanently stop the universe.

No, if they just had him going off into the sunset with Laura, like the ending of Last of Us or Last Crusade, the reaction would still be the same.
