Do you think MTV should go back to the way it was in the 80's and early 90's. I mean with the Vjays and music videos. I miss the old MTV. I loved coming home from school to watch my favorite music video or see an interview with my favorite artist. the best thing about the old MTV is that you were exposed to music you might not other wise have listened too. Remember the beyonce song last year that was on the news ? Just imagine how much more popular it would have been if MTV were the same today as it was back in the 80's and 90's. It sucks that all they have now are fake reality shows. I feel sorry for all the teenagers who have to grow up with this crap.

Yes, I do. I don't know why they changed forms, maybe the popularity of real world, but music made the channel.

It should go back to as it was before 1995 when they playd music. I mean they did play it for a while after 1995. But it was after 1995 that it started to became less and less of a music channel.

Yes, they really screwed the pooch when they decided to primarily feature reality T.V. shows. I was shocked when Beavis and Butt-Head made a comeback temporarily in 2011. But, with songs readily available on YouTube and such, I don't see this happening for the foreseeable future. It's a business, just like any other. They depend on what the viewing demographic is, and whether their advertisers are willing to pay. Even VH1 does the same, unfortunately. I'll never be like it used to be.

Whats crazy is they invented MTV2 just for that purpose, to let that channel follow the old format. And even then they stopped doing music videos. Now MTV2 is just a channel showing marathons of Ridiculousness and other Rob Dyrdek spin off reruns.

They do feature big blocks of music now, but it's nothing like it used to be and never will be again thanks to current technology making it all but obsolete. The Real World was the downfall of everything. EVERYTHING. Curse that stupid show. I used to LOVE Headbanger's Ball.

Give me the old MTV and VH1 anytime. There are more than enough bad reality shows on the other networks. I miss full time music videos.

Many of us would like it, but I doubt it would get a wide enough audience to catch on.
Unfortunately, the crap they spew now is what appeals more to current audiences....

MTV has gotten back to music somewhat. I miss TRL, 'Daria' and 'Celebrity Death Match'. I know this was mostly early 2000s but that's the era I miss the most.

As a kid, I use to wait up to watch world premiere videos (think Thriller). But with the rise of the Internet and sites like YouTube, MTV will never be able to compete.

The last time I remember enjoying MTV as a music station was around 2002. I work nights from home and late night early mornings was music. I did love The Real World though I have not watched in ages. The last season I watched was DC and that was because it had an old Real World feel. It's not MTV anymore. Hell, even VH1 has given up on music.

There's probably too many other music TV stations now plus Youtube etc for it to work like it did in the 80's. The least they could do though would be to come up with better shows.
