Maybe The Rock should be the new Hulk.

Beh, given how Thor Ragnarok wasn't expected to be the massive success it turned out to be this isn't bad. Doing less than Jumanji isn't a bad thing.

Maybe The Rock should be the new Hulk. Jumanji will have outgrossed ALL movies in the DCU sometime during the next week or so. Make sure not to forget that post too.

I'm pretty sure no one expected Jumanji 2 to beat Thor: Ragnarok. Ragnarok made $122 million in its opening weekend while Jumanji made $36 million. That's some pretty impressive legs.

Yeah, but no one expected Ragnarok to be that good to begin with. Especially not against Justice League.
So both Ragnarok and Jumanji are unexpected successes.

The only competition it has had is from TLJ which wasn't as well received as expected. It was a good time to release a movie. Also, I think it had a bit of the same love that Jurassic World received i.e. families wanting to see a blockbuster that isn't from a superhero franchise. They will make the big mistake of assuming that the sequel will gross $$$$$s and release it in the summer where it will probably make about half the money.
