Whose rights are being violated if both participants are willing and can opt out of the process if they do not wish tp pursue the throne? The people of Wakanda who live under a thugocracy which denies them democracy. LOL! If I lived in a place where they could cure me if I ever became a C4 Spinal, I think I could bear up. Thug life!

In medieval times, royal succession was often decided by war or combat. But now in the 21st century, I'm not aware of any monarchy currently in existence anywhere in the world today where royal succession is decided by mortal combat. I'm also not aware of any Norse Gods visiting us, threats from outer space or crime fighting teens with spider like abilities...its a fucking Comic Book Movie! Then that says more about you than what happens in the film. Firstly...the opportunity to contest the throne is the tradition...not the fight itself. How many times has it ever been contested in times leading up to the events of the film? You don't know. If you actually saw the film in the theatre rather than the cruddy online version you did, you may have noticed that there was an acceptance that contesting the thrown doesn't happen and that combat was not expected..and shock when it happened. It is you that have concluded they are "bloodthirsty and have a large appetite for bloodlust". There is no reason for this conclusion to be made about a whole nation unless you have some sort of preconceived notion that Africans are bloodthirsty and have a large appetite for bloodlust (or is it only black Africans..or just black people...I mean you seem from other posts and comments, to have a bee in your bonnet about any reference to race in this movie) And you gathered this from what? Are you just seeing what you want see? Or rather what you can just about make out on your stolen copy of the movie. The most logical explanation is that you, as you have constantly proven in the past, seem to have trouble understanding what's going on in the stolen copies of the films you watch, and in the fog of your hilariously over the top anti MCU stance come up with dumb fucking threads like this.

On my planet the succession to the royal throne is determined by mortal combat. President Ackbar™ and I defeated two other Mon Cals to become President and Vice President respectfully. The losers were then served as a delicious sushi buffet! Good times. Mortal Kombat(1995) loved that movie, more than I did Black Panther

Or, it could suggest that African’s with advanced technology and freedom from colonialism would not have held their society to euro-centric ideas of civility. The Wakandan system of succession is based on well established, centuries-old rules and traditions. Who are you to say they are primitive? Contesting a hand to hand combat duel where the loser may be legally murdered to decide the throne which requires attributes greater than just simply skilled combat is pretty primitive. The fact they also heavily believe in panther gods, ancestral rituals and are separated into "tribes" (basically real life Africans) also show even though they may possess advanced technology, they are not yet scientifically cultured as in a secular democratic society. It's kind of hard to be secular when you know your God exists and mysticism works.

I suppose you need the Panther God itself to come down and say "Listen, I told you to do a Royal Succession this way and you WILL do it this way!" Stop asking to be spoonfed. Next you'll be saying the Asgardians shouldn't have been a Monarchy either.

Next you'll be saying the Asgardians shouldn't have been a Monarchy either. The beauty of the myth and folklore surrounding the sacred herb is that the Wakandans could be connected to a Panther deity that allows them to traverse their ancestral lineage via the herb or their entire experience could simply be the result of the scientifically quantifiable results of the mutagenic properties of the plant. It's really up to the viewer to decide at this point (although we know better from the comic books). Black Panther connects with the idea of "myth" more firmly than Wonder Woman ever did, and it's amazing. Oh and, Asgard has a "transition of power" that nearly destroys their entire civilization but, the Wakandans are the "savages" of the MCU. Go figure.

I still can't believe all the bad reviews for Black Panther that are on IMDB, countless ones cutting down the film--best header: Its Lion King Vs Gang Wars

Well that was dull and repetitive, if you wish to repeat yourself to inflate the size of your post in try finding different ways to say the same thing not just repeat the exact same phrasing every other line. As for the point of your post or should I say the question posed in the post as we all know the point isn't to actually ask any question more so a ruse to allow you to bitch about something MCU related as it's all you do, but to the question no it's not due to vibranium. You seem to mistake technological advancement with them evolving beyond their traditions, Wakanda is famously an isolationist culture they only rarely interact with outsiders and only ever to really benefit their own agenda or needs, Wakandan culture is technologically advanced but still deeply rooted in it's past, you add this to the fact that the leader of Wakanda is also typically either the Black Panther or were the Black Panther the nations greatest warrior and proving oneself in combat for the right to lead also makes sense. If anything the ritual combat of leaders to determine who should lead is far more peaceful, I don't know as I haven't seen the film yet if T'Challa has to fight to be allowed to call himself king or if he is challenged and his ascension to the throne is just a time when any who wish to may challenge more easily, this negates large scale war between tribes limiting the number of deaths to a single person instead of hundreds or thousands which is far more civilised than open warfare, even with Killmongers challenge it makes sense rather than a violent coup where the royal families allies are divided leading to civil war, a member of the family can simply challenge for the right to lead, again limiting the deaths of the Wakandan people. Considering that Wakanda recognises a monarchy not an elected government violence is the only way to force change in leadership, hell even with elected government's violence is also a tool to force regime changes, the fact Wakanda has a sacred and honoured method in which to allow for the change and yet protect it's people at the same time is far from barbaric, bloodthirsty, primitive or any other crap you want to call it, but we all know you don't care you just want to shit on the film. Also the whole fight to the death thing also keeps the right to challenge from being meaninglessly used, only those willing to die will challenge, so people wont do it as a lark, it keeps the crown as being something only few who have strong convictions will go for, if theres no risk anyone would challenge, even those who have no business leading. Either opponent can submit without forfeiting their life and honor will still be satisfied. In barbaric and brutal fights like these, it's possible that a fighter is incapacitated and thus unable to submit even if he wanted to.

Its part of their culture, so who cares? In America our presidency is rigged by the rich and powerful so What's to say we are any better? In America, we don't have that same barbaric craving to see blood spilled and human life taken like Wakandans do.

I'm not talking about you in particular, but in a general way. Seems like trolls invest so much in their fandom, that when their object of obsession is knocked it really hurts them. I got to ask when you found out Black Panther took over RT top 50 how did you react?

Its a great point. The film basically is reinforcing the stereotype that Africans will still be primitive and savages even if they had kept their natural resources. Or, it could suggest that African’s with advanced technology and freedom from colonialism would not have held their society to euro-centric ideas of civility. The Wakandan system of succession is based on well established, centuries-old rules and traditions. That's my point. It's a centuries-old tradition. Heck, royal succession in medieval England was often decided by bloodshed and loss of human life.
But that was centuries ago. This is the 21st century and civilization has advanced beyond such barbaric traditions. Except for Wakanda, where the Wakandans still hold on to the medieval and barbaric tradition of royal succession by bloodshed and mortal combat.
Moreover, saying that it's OK for Wakanda to hold on to such a barbaric tradition is OK because it's a centuries old tradition is the stupidest thing ever. Henry VIII beheaded 2 of his wives for infidelity (and only 1 of the 2 was actually guilty of infidelity). So if Prince Charles had said "Diana was unfaithful to me so she should be beheaded", would you say that's OK because it's a centuries-old tradition for a King or Prince to behead his wife if she was unfaithful? Do you see how stupid your argument is?

Why are you zeroing in on this Barbaric angle. When you have a genuine gripe about when Klaue was killed. This tact makes you look unhinged and desperate.

He IS unhinged and with a four-day haul of over $400 million worldwide for Marvel's Blank Panther - he is now also quite desperate. He's just spitting into the wind and he knows it.

As a matter of interest please name one King in England who gained the throne through man to man combat with the current king? Shall I save you some time...NONE You truly are a fucking idiot. Beheading your wife for infidelity was NOT a tradition.

It's also quite telling that what he took away from the film was that the Wakandan's were "bloodthirsty and barbaric" which they obviously not when you see their reaction to the challenges. Yet doesn't seem to pick up on the representation of them being highly intelligent, courageous and having a pretty progressive attitude towards women in their society.
