But then after it became obvious to everyone who knew him and this same Sheriff's Department, as well as the FBI, received dozens of complaints about him, including complaints that specifically said he was going to shoot up a school, nothing was done. |

But then after it became obvious to everyone who knew him and this same Sheriff's Department, as well as the FBI, received dozens of complaints about him, including complaints that specifically said he was going to shoot up a school, nothing was done. There's actually a 'Red Flag' policy which would have restrained him from obtaining a firearm. Unfortunately Florida doesn't have one. |

We have background checks. That are obviously insufficient and not “universal”. Which is kind of the point of people wanting better background checks and to close the background check loophole that allows people to get around them. You'll wait forever on consistency. It's called the United STATES of America and any restrictions on the 2nd Amendment belong to STATE control. |

He is not (as far as I am aware) a trained soldier with combat experience, so likely this is the first time he experienced a life and death situation, none of us know how we will react to such a situation, as an example in war situations many soldiers are unable to take a human life. This guy found he was unable to, and is probably very traumatised by that, shaming him in a public forum will only make things worse. Never mind the argument that a uniformed deputy with a pistol against an opponent with an automatic rifle and who does not stick out will only result in the deputies death. |

The killer's rifle fired one shot with each pull of the trigger just like the deputy's weapon, the weapon he should have had much more training with than the killer had with his. I'm often left wondering where people get their ideas about guns. |

But that is my point about soldiers, we know that a fair number cannot kill when the time comes, but we forgive them, why is this guy not given the same courtesy. Don't get me wrong I wish there had been a way to find out he could not do it before hand, but to shame him afterwards is really wrong as far as I think. |
