I watched Gone With The Wind for the 31 time. That's 123 hours of your life you won't get back. You could have written a poem or learned Latvian grammar in that time. I also watched it many times, probably somewhere between 10 to 15 times. Only a few times I watched it when doing nothing else at the same time. One of the time was watching at the theater.

Sounder 1972 directed by Martin Ritt A slow paced but rewarding movie set in Louisiana 1933. Poor but proud family of share-croppers, father is sent to labour-camp for stealing food. Family have to rise to the situation. Great performances by Cicely Tyson, Paul Winfield, Kevin Hooks and Taj Mahal who also provided the music. The movie title, is the name of the family dog.

The Tall Men 1955 directed by Raoul Walsh Big-scale old-fashioned western with big names of the day (Clark Gable, Jane Russell and Robert Ryan). Good use of widescreen with lots of cattle, about a cattle drive from Texas to Montana (though filmed in Mexico) with lots of obstacles on the way. At nearly 2 hours long the story is a bit too thin and takes nearly half the time before the drive begins. But it looks good.

Ice Cold In Alex (1958). Stirring tale set in the desert in Ww2. John Mills does looks a bit strange as blonde though.

SABRINA (1954) Audrey Hepburn as a plain, shy girl whom nobody notices? No, I don’t buy it either. She goes off to catering college in Paris as a devastating beauty in affordable clothes, and comes back as a devastating beauty wearing expensive clothes. Some movies you just have to sink into like a big warm bath. William Holden is as charming as his terrible 1950s blond dye-job allows him to be; Bogart is as credible a romantic lead opposite Hepburn as the enormous age difference allows him to be; and, as always with Billy Wilder, the repartee is the stuff of legend.

I really enjoyed the film. Reese Witherspoon nailed the role of Tracy Flick, a perky yet isolated high school student. Matthew Broderick was rather good as the everyday high school civics teacher, Mr. McAllister. There's a lot of deeply-woven context into the film concerning ethics and morals, and being a satire of American politics and our electoral system.

The Drum 1938 directed by Zoltan Korda This was actually like watching an old artifact being dusted off, and not sure if saving. Sabu was indeed charismatic but the story seems too created.
