I thought for sure you'd seen Nuremberg. Seems like something you'd like. You should also definitely check out A Place in the Sun. You're a fan of Montgomery Clift, right? I didn't see that interview and I actually haven't seen Dredd. I was hoping to like Battle of Algiers more because I know most people seem to love it. Witness for the Prosecution is one of Wilder's best for sure. Yah I’m a fan of Clift. Dredd is amazing 8/10 from me You gonna get to Hangover Square some time? Dredd is only good from a visual style standpoint imo. I think the plot is quite generic. The movie loses me completely when Dredd outruns an entire floor being blown up though. It removes any element that he is in any danger and the main villain is more annoying than menacing.

I looked and Hangover Street is already on my imdb watchlist. I think I added it the first time you watched it. Place in the sun is on my watchlist too

Hey, I liked The Mummy, but as the movie.
My films: Closer (2004) 9/10
Tomboy (2011) 8.5/10
Where is the Friend's Home (1987) 7/10 - Solid Iranian drama film, but the ending is really touching.
Iron Man 3 (2013) 8.5/10 - Amazing one! Maybe even better than the first one.
3-Iron (2004) 9/10 - Such a lovely and strange love story. The ending is really amazing.
The Shape of Water (2017) 10/10 - I just finally saw The Shape of Water and all I have to say that I absolutely loved it. Amazing cinematography, performances, set design and story. Sally Hawkins did really an amazing job for her performance. Michael Shannon impressed me by his villain performance, and Octavia Spencer was also really good in it. I actually cried during watching the final scene, but I'm still wondering why I do found it a wonderful film while it had sex between a fish-man and a girl? I don't know, it was interesting and has a weird romantic, but also wonderful story. It is quite well-done, insane, disturbing and excellent film. It is truly a beautiful film and one of the best films of the year I've seen as it deserved to win an Oscar for best picture.
Red Sparrow (2018) 10/10 - This movie blew me away! Jennifer Lawrence was so amazing in her insane role. I never thought she would accept to do nudity, but actually did. Since she was terrified and scared of doing this. Jennifer just literally started to star in insane movies. First 'mother!' and then 'Red Sparrow'. Is she's going insane? But however, she really impressed me what she's working. It's an excellent violent spy film with a good story and has 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' vibe.
Creep 2 (2017) 7/10 - Was way better than the original which was average.
Sadie Thomson (1928) 6.5/10

I liked The Mummy, but as the movie. I’m not sure what your comment onThe Mummy even means? I meant as a movie, I think it's midly entertaining and enjoyable movie. A few times I laughed because it has some hilarious lines and ridiculous parts. I quite enjoyed it, and the story is stupidly fun. But as a Dark Universe movie, so this movie is supposed to be the beginning of Dark Universe? Hm, not really great start! It has weak casts, the rest is just poorly written. It definitely feels a bit "so bad, it's good" movie. I hope they will make a better Dark Universe movies in the future.

Annihilation (2018) Expected a little more but still great 8/10
Paddington 2 (2017) As critics would say...."utterly charming". 8/10
2019, After the Fall of New York (1983) 1st of 3 Italian 80's Mad Max/Escape From New York "influenced" B-Movies viewed this week. The Euracs (Euro-African-Asian alliance) have won the war and New York is in ruins. Our hero, Parsifal (!) is sent to the Big Apple by the President of the Confederacy, to track down the last remaining fertile woman. Apparently filmed in Italy and on location in Nevada and New York, you think they could have saved themselves some money by actually not going to NY though there is nothing on screen to indicate the latter was ever visited. As with a lot of these films they never get the costumes/sets/technology as quite right as the films they are ripping off. The guns throughout have a very irritating pew pew noise unlike one I've heard before. There is some so bad its good dialogue ("the Euracs are seeking you like a bunch of bananas", "it's not his fault he's not a child"). There is a guy who shouts "Bastard" everytime he takes a shot at the bad guys. Italian b-movie stalwart George Eastman plays a half man half ape! Dumb entertainment. 6/10
The New Barbarians (1983) The post-Apocalypse again. The year is 2019 again. B-movie "legend" and Tarantino favourite Enzo G. Castellari's Mad Max "influenced" movie set in what seems to be quarry and an abandoned air field. Our hero Scorpion tries to survive and save others, helped by bow and arrow toting Fred Williamson, from the threat of the Templars, led by George Eastman, a bad guy so bad he tries to publicly anally rape our hero as a punishment. Moral of the story? Fuck knows. Though I did learn that if a woman thinks you are going to rape her, and you don't, she lets you sleep with her! Bad all round, but stupidly diverting 5/10
1990: The Bronx Warriors (1982) Enzo G. Castellari again...this time Escape from New York and The Warriors are his muse. Looks like he used a lot of his flair and budget on this because by comparison it is missing from New Barbarians which he made straight after. This Time our hero is Trash, played by Mark Gregory...a long haired beefcake who just looks, well, odd. Not sure why...his arms too long maybe. Or his upper body. Or his legs too thin. Not 100% sure, but he looks really odd riding a motorbike, and has a strange walk in a few scenes. An heiress escapes Manhattan and shacks up with Trash in no go zone wasteland Bronx (although in a few scenes it looks like normal life is carrying on in the background). Vic Morrow plays Hammer, a bounty hunter sent to bring her back. Trash leads a gang called the Riders. Fred Williamson (again) leads a gang who act and look like pimps/aristocracy, George Eastman (AGAIN!) leads a gang called the Zombies who are on roller skates (though back at his lair there seems to be a number of members who lounge around in brightly coloured unitards, or spend time bouncing on trampolines!). There is also a gang that are into Broadway shows - bowler hats, canes, make-up - and a gang of just mud caked faced men in rags. Looks like the director came up with a neat visual where if you shoot a flamethrower behind glass, and put an actor in the foreground it looks cool. So cool in fact he has to use it almost EVERY TIME A FLAME THROWER IS USED. Which is a lot. Best bit? An unrehearsed motorcycle accident that is left in the film. 6.5/10

Only one I saw is Close Encounters. Saw it for the first time last year and liked it a lot. I thought you didn't like that one. 7.5-8/10
Mine:
The Gift (2015 Netflix): This movie offers a good but ballsy idea that was executed very well with a talented cast. The whole thing reminded me of those intense Asian thrillers. I found it to be a slow burn with a finish that won’t leave you indifferent. Formulaic but entertaining. 7/10
Batman V Superman (2016 Netflix): Not even 10 minutes in, I saw Ben Affleck save a little girl from a crumbling building, and at the very last second on top of that. I puked a little in my mouth. But I stuck with the film because, you know, it’s Batman VS Superman and it’s my man Zack Snyder. 20 minutes after, I realised it was literal bullshit and no dramatic violin could save this mess. When Bruce Wayne woke up from a nightmare involving computer generated imagery, mine was just starting. Eisenberg also made some noise with his mouth…I lost interest and started doing other stuff. It’s actually still playing in the background as I write this. Right now a creature appeared straight out from Middle-Earth. Pretty rad. 4/10
When we first met (2018 Netflix): Yeeah… killed that one too. Barely 30 minutes in. And that’s coming from a Workaholics fan. 2/10
Ferris Bueller’s day off (Bluray 1986): I had three teen comedies of the 80’s I needed to watch. Fast times at Ridgemont High, which I loved a while ago and rated a 8. This one here, which I tough was good but not outstanding, at least it went by very quick and I rate it a 7/10. Next one I aim is The Breakfast Club.
Coût de chance (2014 TV): This French DTV movie was perfect for a lazy afternoon. It even made for a great debate between me and my wife afterward. Good acting, good story, cheap filming. 6.5/10
Love Season 3 (2018 Netflix): ‘’ A program that follows a couple who must navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment and other things they were hoping to avoid.’’ This was my favorite season yet, very good stuff. Strong start, strong finish and a consistent middle. Binged it like a boss. 8/10

Annihilation - I also saw it this week The Mummy - I agree it's not as bad as most people say. 5/10 Close Encounters of the Third Kind - needs a rewatch, but it didn't quite work for me the first time. 6.5/10 To Have and Have Not - good stuff. 7/10 Sixteen Candles - I really enjoyed this one. 7.5/10 First Time Viewings:
From Here to Eternity (1953, Fred Zinnemann) This classic tells a good story and features several strong performances from it's cast. It's very well made and has some great moments present. 7.5/10
A Place in the Sun (1951, George Stevens) In this one a young man starts working for his uncle and falls in love with two women. The story goes in some interesting directions and I found it engaging throughout. Montgomery Clift, Shelley Winters, and Elizabeth Taylor all give really good performances and overall I liked this one a lot. 8/10
Judgment at Nuremberg (1961, Stanley Kramer) I've been looking forward to watching this one for quite a while and it didn't disappoint. The cast is terrific and the story pulled me in and from the start and the three hour running time was never a problem. 8/10
Annihilation (2018, Alex Garland) I'm a big fan of this director's first film ex Machina, so I was looking forward to this one. It was a bit of a let down, but I still liked it and feel there's potential for it to improve after repeat viewings. It looks great, has a really good score, and there are some great scenes. it gets a bit confusing towards the end, but it's still thought provoking. 7/10
A Man for All Seasons (1966, Fred Zinnemann) This one tells the story of a man who stood up to King Henry VIII when he rejected the Catholic church in order to divorce and remarry. Paul Scofield is very good in his Oscar winning role and the film is well made and I found the story interesting. 7.5/10
The Misfits (1961, John Huston) In this one a recently divorced woman meets and falls in love with an over-the-hill cowboy. This was the final film for both Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable and both of them along with Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach, and Thelma Ritter put in some strong work. The film is well made and though it drags in parts it has some standout scenes and I liked it overall. 7/10
The Hospital (1971, Arthur Hiller) In this one a doctor struggles to find meaning in his life, while a murderer stalks the halls of his hospital. The story is pretty strange, but that's part of it's charm and the film is carried by a very good performance from George C. Scott. Diana Rigg is also really good. 7/10
The Battle of Algiers (1966, Gillo Pontecorvo) This one tells the story of the people of Algeria fighting for their independence from the French government in the 50's. The film didn't suck me in quite as much as I'd hoped, but I've liked it more in retrospect after a few days have passed. It features a very good score from Ennio Morricone, and there are some excellent scenes and powerful moments here and there. 7.5/10
Marty (1955, Delbert Mann) This Best Picture winner is about a 34 year old butcher that's given up on love, when he meets a woman at a dance. Ernest Borgnine leads the way with a strong performance and the rest of the cast is good too. The film is pretty entertaining throughout and I had a good time watching it. 7/10
Repeat Viewings:
A Streetcar Named Desire (1951, Elia Kazan) This classic has a good story with interesting themes and some fantastic acting to elevate the entire thing. 8/10
To Kill a Mockingbird (1962, Robert Mulligan) I hadn't seen this one since school, but it held up well. The first half focuses a bit too much on the kids if you ask me, but the second half is great and the film is well acted, has important themes, and some excellent scenes. 8/10
East of Eden (1955, Elia Kazan) James Dean's first movie is well made and acted and held up pretty well on this second viewing for me. 7.5/10
Rebel Without a Cause (1955, Nicholas Ray) This was James Dean's second film and for my money his best. It has a good story and themes and many fantastic scenes throughout. Dean is really good here and Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood are also very good and the three of them all play great characters. 8.5/10
Witness for the Prosecution (1957, Billy Wilder) this courtroom classic features a brilliant script that's full of surprises and the film still holds up after multiple viewings. Charles Laughton is amazing in the lead role and the rest of the cast is pretty damn good too. The final few minutes remain shocking and highly effective even when you know what's going to happen. 9/10
Movie Awards:
BEST FILM - Witness for the Prosecution BEST ACTOR - Charles Laughton (Witness for the Prosecution) BEST ACTRESS - Vivien Leigh (A Streetcar Named Desire) BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR - Marlon Brando (A Streetcar Named Desire) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS - Kim Hunter (A Streetcar Named Desire) BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY - Rob Hardy (Annihilation) BEST SCORE - Ennio Morricone (The Battle of Algiers) BEST SCRIPT - Bill Wilder, Harry Kurnitz, & Lawrence B. Marcus (Witness for the Prosecution) BEST DIRECTOR - Billy Wilder (Witness for the Prosecution) It's been a long time since this happened but none of yours for me. Fast times at Ridgemont High, which I loved and rated a 8. 6.5/10 Love Season 3 (2018 Netflix): ‘’ A program that follows a couple who must navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment and other things they were hoping to avoid.’’ This was my favorite season yet, very good stuff. Strong start, strong finish and a consistent middle. Binged it like a boss. 8/10 Batman v Superman - I think it's mostly enjoyable, but it definitely has problems. 6.5/10 Ferris Bueller's Day Off - very enjoyable. 8/10

Oh and by the way, if you were wondering why I didn't say any details was because when I first tried typing this, I pressed a key that sent me back while I was in the middle of typing. So I didn't wanna have to start all over, but you can see the ratings I added for them, otherwise.
