Why is Homecoming the worst? Oh, let me guess "becuz humor"? Too much forced unfunny humor. At least the raimi films and ASM got to the point. Such as?

Why is Homecoming the worst? Oh, let me guess "becuz humor"? Because: 1. SMH Spider-Man doesn't give a shit about responsibility and his only reason for being a hero is to try to impress Tony Stark 2. SMH Spider-Man doesn't use his Spider-Sense and instead uses AI suits given to him by Tony Stark, making SMH Spider-Man nothing more than War Machine 2.0 1. He absolutely does, that's why he turns down Tony Stark's offer to join The Avengers to continue to operate in his small part of NYC. 2. His spider-sense is not the be all or end all of his abilities, and we clearly see in Infinity War that he has it.

Not to legitimate fans of the character it isn't, and to general movie goers. It's certainly a better portrayal of the character than, say, Justice League's The Flash. This is the MCU board and this is a thread about Spider-Man. Why do MCU fans try to turn EVERY thread into a MCU vs DC argument? Because you constantly reignite this feud any opportunity you get. And if you can't create a counter argument as to why Justice League portrays the Flash better than the MCU does with Spidey then you pretty much forfeit the argument, so you better explain in your next response and don't pull anything from out of your rear end like always.

No, I don't I didn't being DC into this thread. Like I said, this is an MCU board and this thread is about an MCU movie. So DC has nothing to do with this thread. Yet you MCU fans try to start another MCU vs DC argument and then you accuse DC fans of starting it when it's MCU fans that start the argument.

Agreed! Spiderman 2 is still the gold standard. I like Holland, but Homecoming suffered from being the second reboot in under a decade. It isn't like SM2 didn't have major flaws to it. For some reason people just seem to ignore them. A lot of great movies have flaws. I'm not saying it's perfect. Homecoming has flaws too. Spiderman 1-2 ooze quality. A few "flaws" don't negate that.

I liked Maguire better than Garfield. Still haven't seen Homecoming or Civil War.

Spiderman 2 is the best Spiderman movie ever and one of the best superhero movies ever. I rank it higher than TDK. It has the some of the best action scenes in any superhero movie and is just great overall. That said, I was never really that sold with Tobey's Peter Parker. Peter Parker is kind of a half-nerd/half-jock kind of guy. He's a nerd and geek but he's not puny. And though he gets bullied here and there he's still generally considered cool and can be popular if he wanted to.
Tobey's Peter was too nerdy and not enough cool. Garfield's Peter was too cool and not nerdy/geeky enough. Holland's was a good mix.
And though I liked Spiderman I and II over SHC, I do think SHC is way better than any of the Garfield movies. Plus, SHC did something extremely hard: Made Spiderman interesting again after 3 bland movies.

The problem with Homecoming is that it suffers from reboot-syndrome.
So much of the familiar mythology is missing: Mary Jane, Harry, Gwen, an elderly May, Uncle Ben, JJ Jamison, The Daily Bugle...
Then there's the addition of things that just don't mesh well with the classic incarnations of the character: The V.I. Voice in his suit. The forced mentor relationship with Stark...
Holland may very well be the best fit but the movie itself just feels forced.

It wouldn't have made sense to have him exist in a vacuum where no other heroes exist or no other heroes would want to investigate him in the Post-Accords world.

Marisa Tomei is 53 yrs. old, which would make her something like 37 yrs older than Peter. So that part I didn't mind. Tony Stark being there also wasn't that bad, there have been some storylines where Spiderman was a newbie in the Avengers team and had to look up to older members to direct them. Plus they needed a way to integrate him into the universe without him looking like an underage vigilante. I did get a bit put off by his suit AI. It was cool, just didn't quite fit what we know of Spidey. The absence of Mary Jane, Harry or Gwen did bother me, though I'm hoping these are things they'll reserve for when Parker gets into university.

Yeah, people familiar only with the Raimi movies don't know that Peter didn't meet Harry and Gwen until University and that while May had tried to get him with MJ early on they also didn't meet until later. Betty Brant and Liz were his first love interests.

An elderly Aunt May would make perfect sense. Let's say Peter's mother was 35 and Peter's father (Richard) was early 40s when Peter was born. So Ben (Richard's brother) could've been 50 and May (Ben's wife) could've been late 40s when Peter was born. That would make Aunt May early 60s when Peter starts high school. I did get a bit put off by his suit AI. It was cool, just didn't quite fit what we know of Spidey. That's 1 of the reasons why SMH is the worst Spider-Man movie ever. Spider-Man in SMH was basically War Machine 2.0, relying extensively on AI suits given to him by Tony Stark rather than on his own powers, like Spider-Sense. The absence of Mary Jane, Harry or Gwen did bother me Mary Jane was in it. They just changed her name to "MJ" and didn't reveal that until the end of the movie. But yeah, the absence of Harry and Gwen was definitely a negative.

And it's actually pretty risky for the mother. The scenario you suggested is possible but it is very unlikely and you make far too many assumptions to make it happen. It makes less sense to have an aunt 50 yrs older than you than it is to have an aunt just shy of 40 yrs older than you. A person with the initials MJ were in SHC but there was nobody there called Mary Jane.

Spider-man spending a bunch of scenes sitting next to her in a hospital because she had a heart attack every movie is not a fun time. The point of the suit was that he didn't need it. They've actually said that one of the reasons for the suit was to replace the inner monologue he usually has in the comics. He didn't meet Gwen and Harry until college. Hell, he didn't meet any of them until college. Maybe only Liz Allen, Flash Thompson, and (retconned) Silk was with him in high school.

We will be lucky if Homecoming Spidey gets to college. I think this one is just a fail. mcu fans have been trying to convince us Holland is the best spidey and the world and spiderman fans keep telling them no. LMAO. In all seriousness was there ever a competition? Spidey was already doomed when Disney decided to treat him like hannah motana and not spiderman.

One other reason that made Tobey the best? it was his own character study movie. every time Iron Man showed up in Homecoming, Holland's Spidey got worse.

Do you know why most think that Tobey is the best Spider-man? He was their first. It's the same as people still thinking Chris Reeve is the best Superman or Keaton being the best Batman. Or even people wanting Burton's Batman to be like West's. It's not the quality of the movie people, but "not my Spider-man". People get attached to the feelings they had when they watched that movie (they only really liked Spider-man 2). That's why they call it nostalgia. Another thing. If Spider-man Homecoming was so bad, why did DC hire the writers to direct Flash?

I thought his Spider-Man was the best. He shouldn't have been a heartthrob and he wasn't. He played the science geek well but not too well.
I hated Christian Bale as Batman because no one should be afraid of Batman. Even the innocent people he was protecting we're afraid of him. That can't be right. (Ben Affleck was laughable)
