As an Indian stereotype? And when I say indian, i'm referring to not an American indian, but he other kind, of indian. Like, i'm not talking about he Indians that were in America before it was a country, I mean the over seas Indians.
It seems like there is a lot of controversy about whether the show should still have the indian character own the kwik e mart, because some person wrote an article, and they said it's racist.
Is it racist in your opinion? To have an indian who speaks with an indian accent? That's the other problem in their opinion. Because they have a problem with it, because most Indians don't speak like that, unless they are first generation immigrants.

I think it could pose racial problem in that The Simpsons created around 1990(!) keeps themselves locked in time as it were.
So things that might seem funny traits in f'n 1990, it'd be weird if after nearly 30 f'n years the stereotypes they first depicted, & thus kept all along, never progressed. I would say that ppl who are offended are in the right here because yeah, Apu is pretty much a walkover. We're talking about a supporting, borderline at the time background character, who was created for a show that its writers thought wouldn't see the light of day past a year let alone decades & millions of viewers.
As if The Simpsons still mattered past 1999 anyways. These headlines are funny to me because who f'n cares.

No. It wasn’t a problem then and it’s not a problem now. The only one who thinks it’s offensive is some unfunny Indian comic who apparently little to nobody knew about until now.
Let me remind everyone:this is just one person that is upset by this. Why do we believe just one guy? If it were a group maybe, but again it’s just one guy.

Its not a stereotype if it's true.
Do they have accents like that? Yes. Do all of them? No.
Do many take jobs in the food or customer service industries? Yes. Do all of them? No.
Do many pack their cars with multiple children (all of their offspring)? Yes. Are these children seated properly and using seat belts? Most likely not.
Do all have multiple children? No. Do all let the children they do have run rampant in the moving vehicle? No.
Have I personally witnessed all of these examples? Yes.
Have I witnessed all Indians behaving in these manners? No.
(There are more 'stereotypes' that I have witnessed that I am not going to mention here as you get the point.)
The point that people have to understand is that some does not equal all. It is also up to the individuals who resent the stereotypes to NOT fall into the trap of DOING the stereotypes either.

Everyone is a stereotype on that show.
Are they going to have Apu be the normal one?
I think Apu has evolved as a character and the primary problem with him now is his accent.

Would you go up to an actual Indian that owns and runs a store and call them racist for doing so? Or for talking like they do in their own accent?
Remember, this show began 30 years ago when people never gave such things much consideration. However, I never got the impression that Apu was being belittled, instead, he's seen, by myself at least, as a good example of inclusion. Even now, how many other Indian characters are semi-regular characters on a TV series, and for this long?

Do the Scots ever object to Groundskeeper Willie? Or Italians and Luigi? Or the Japanese and Akira? Or whatever the f*ck Cookie Kwan was supposed to be? Chinese? Korean?

No, the Simpsons are not wrong. Only an idiot would think it is racist to have a character from India speak in an Indian accent.

There is nothing wrong with Apu. The complaint that he is voiced by a white actor is as ridiculous as complaining that Bart is voiced by an adult woman and not by a ten-year old boy.
The character may be a stereotype but it is not a negative one. Other than being a slightly dishonest merchant, he is portrayed quite positively - certainly much better than most supporting characters like Mr. Burns, Moe, Principal Skinner, Barney, Chief Wiggum, Krusty, Comic Book Guy, Otto the school bus driver.

They have an indian on the big bang theory. And even he's stereotyped as well. For being a nerd that's good at science and math. And what about the oriental in the Goonies, wasn't he stereotyped as well? For being good at inventing things, and his dad also.

My ear nose and throat Dr is Indian and I have known him for almost twenty years. He still has his accent but he makes sure he speaks clearly. Instead of saying once or twice a day he will say one or two times a day in regards to directions to take medicine.

Apu is a very likable figure, more so than most others on the show. The humor around his character chiefly involves Homer's cloddishness toward people unfamiliar to him.

Liberals have to ruin everything. Seriously, if this doesn't prove how incredibly stupid they are than nothing does.
