Liberals have to ruin everything. A show that everyone has been saying should've ended years ago is now all of a sudden ruined? Silly.

Liberals have to ruin everything. Well, it balances the Trumpers exaggerate everything. All the way around this is pretty much a nothing burger. There's 30 years of Apu to appreciate if that's why one watches The Simpsons.

This is not just about The Simpsons. Liberals are only happy when all people are equally miserable.

Man, I better tell Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, and Jerry Seinfeld they aren't really comedians.

Man, I better tell Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, and Jerry Seinfeld they aren't really comedians. Jokes are almost always offensive to someone. And people are offended by Seinfeld jokes now. They weren't back in the 90s. But, like with most things, liberals are offended. Seinfeld has even pointed this out.

No.
No. Besides, that's based on the false assumption he's telling the same jokes he did back in the 90s. He doesn't.
And yet, his jokes aren't based on racist stereotypes.

The word 'racist' has no real meaning any more, thanks to liberals. Everything is racist to them. Yeah, liberals have to ruin everything.

He's a romanticized version of the Indian convenience store owner. He's successful, smart, moral, athletic.
He's not really a stereotype beyond the voice, since most stereotypical presentations of an Indian store clerk would likely have a few negative qualities.
A stereotype is generalized depictions based on observed phenomenon.
Are most nuclear power plant safety inspectors semi-retarded, eating donuts on the control panels?
Liberals paint themselves into a corner because they create a show like the Simpsons for political reasons, but eventually the minority element will get large enough to turn on them. The reassessment of To Kill A Mockingbird demonstrates that. It's moving into Uncle Tom's Cabin territory---a work that was written as an anti-slavery book but now is seen as offensive.
Yet people are still reading Shakespeare hundreds of years later--because his plays were not designed as political screeds. The more a work reflects immutable truth, the longer its shelf life.

Well that's just not true. Richard III alone is a great example.

Well that's just not true. Richard III alone is a great example. But what makes it enduring is not the forgotten political histories, but the dramatic depictions of human nature. Ditto for Gulliver's Travels or Dante's Inferno which have various political allusions.

An Indian character with an Indian accent is not racist. An Indian character who is a successful business owner is not a racist stereotype. It's a POSITIVE portrayal. Racism is the belief that a race is genetically inferior. There's nothing inferior about Apu, he's no better or worse than any other character on the Simpsons. He's actually better than most of the other characters. We're supposed to celebrate cultural differences but if you portray a person from a different culture as different it's a "racist stereotype"? SMH!
The show doesn't say that all Indians own convenience stores (do they have to say that in every episode to prove it?).
If they have a Black pro-basketball player character, that's not a racist stereotype either anymore than Mr. Burns is a white racist stereotype.

Just as what made the Simpsons a classic was its hilarious stories mixed with genuine emotion, not its outdated 90's caricatures of other races.

Yeah but the human nature stuff is faked or stifled by the politics. Especially as the years went on. The first few seasons might have emphasized a situation comedy family dilemma, and the story problem was the driving force, but as time progressed, it got more and more dysfunctional and political. the series is based on unrealistic stereotypes with religion and ethnicity. Flanders is a successful Christian store owner but he was the result of beatnik parents. Lovejoy is a cynical whatever. Some of the depictions are offensive, others are flattering--the flattering presentations tend to go for the Apu/Hibbard/Carl/ crowd etc..

You mean like the Schoolhouse Rock singer (he just died)? He sounded like a big black guy. Same thing for Rick Astley. Sings like a big black man looks like Wally cleaver.
