The social media embargo for Infinity War just dropped and reactions are coming in with the review embargo lifting Tuesday afternoon US time. So far the consensus seems to be that it's very entertaining and epic, but not without flaws. Some of the negatives I saw was that people were exhausted or that the action felt more like noise after a while and that it felt like the first part of the two part movie, which frustrated some people. Luckily, many people also think it was an epic entry with high emotional stakes. The thing that's getting the most praise is the ending. Even some of the more mixed tweets credit the ending as the best part of the movie. Thanos is also getting a lot of praise.

Some early reactions:
"#InfinityWar is everything you want, nothing you expect. It’s funny, surprising, dark, filled with delightful interplay between characters never seen on screen before. I know many filmmakers say they are trying to make a sequel in the vein of Empire Strikes Back, this succeeds." - Peter Sciretta, slashfilm
"#AvengersInfinityWar: #Marvel puts it all on the table and wipes it off. Stress-inducing, full of dread, darker than usual, yet, funny as hell and super entertaining. Terrifying Thanos razes the ground without mercy. Blockbuster noise? Yes, but with emotional stakes attached." - Rodrigo Perez
"AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: A movie version of a massive comic-book crossover, for better (fun character interactions) and worse (it's pretty much all Infinity Stone shenanigans). " - Matt Singer
"Jaw on ground. You are not ready for 'Avengers: Infinity War'. All you have to know is AVOID ALL SPOILERS! Seriously. Go in knowing as little as possible. The @russo_Brothers did the impossible. Wow." - Steven Weintraub, Collider
"Holy Hell. Avengers: Infinity War is the real deal. Was left breathless sitting in the theater. Real consequences, stunning moments, awesome character interaction, and some BIG and often devastating surprises. Oh, and Thanos is terrifying and amazing. Damn." - Eric Eisenberg, CinemaBlend
"AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is very weighty and juggles most of its characters with consideration. It’s the closest thing to a Paul Thomas Anderson movie you’ll find in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I Am Shook!" - Rudie Obias, ScreenRant
"AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has like ten legit "chill down the spine" great moments. But it's for sure the first half of a two part movie and I left a little unsatisfied/frustrated, maybe by design ... at least that's how I feel right now three hours later." - Mike Ryan, Uproxx
"#AvengersInfinityWar: Despite some truly thrilling moments, feels like less than the sum of its parts. A definite step down after that epic run of GotGV2 / Spidey / Thor 3 / Black Panther, but what else did I expect?" - Angie J. Han, Mashable
"#InfinityWar may be the most expensive Hollywood movie ever designed to mess with its audience. People sure are going to sit through a lot of credits!" - Erikohn, Indiewire
"INFINITY WAR is exhausting. *Exhausting.* It all just turned into noise for me after a while. But the amazing ending almost made up for the rest of it. And Thanos is a good, sad villain." - Bilge Ebiri, Village Voice
"I mostly felt the same way I did about CIVIL WAR. til the last act which is admirably nuts. it’s weightless in that giant crossover way, but then it really goes for it. some stuff made me GRUMPY. I dunno. what a world!" - David Sims, The Atlantic
"#AVENGERS #INFINITYWAR lives up to the hype and then some! It's unlike anything that has come before. A game changer not just for Marvel, but for summer blockbusters themselves." - Silas Lesnick, Moviebill

So basically, IW is getting the same hype as TLJ, which turned out to be a huge disappointment.

One question: are there true loses, does some characters (in the range of Ironman, Hulk etc. pp.) die? But one of my biggest problem with this entire genre, and with the age of Abrams, is, that nothing has consequnces. Tock, you die, tick, you live (again). Death has no final consequence, and everything else for that matter.
Abrams and the like are unable to choose and go on with it and accept the concequences of their choice. They don't develop characters or story arcs, but play possibilities through over and over again.

86% and falling. Hardly universal acclaim Non-MCU movie: 86% RT score: “OMG AWESOME I’M SO EXCITED THIS MOVIE IS GONNA BE FANTASTIC!” MCU movie: 86% RT score: “Damn this movie is probably going to suck”

i enjoyed it. not as much as black panther or thor, but it was certainly a "success" as in: entertaining well put together movie that had its moments. and was surprisingly easy to navigate through, even though there really is an abundance of characters and locations.
i just wish there had been more GoG humor in it.

I had a blast. Visually from the effects, to the colors, to some specific shots (Thanos looking at the young Gamora under the arch) it was stunning. Since Thanos had a lot of screentime and with the different angles it was more easy to see Brolin's face. I mean, the way they made him, his stature to the way he moved, you could nearly feel the power. The acting was on par with what was expected but as Nora pointed out, they managed to make a well put together movie despite having all those characters. Of course, if super hero movies aren't your cup of tea you'll find it boring but otherwise it was one of the best in recent years. Solid 8/10.

I also liked his conflict but even if it's probably not the case, part of me still thought that Hulk was scared of being beaten again . And I was wondering about the budget: www.forbes.com/sites/csylt/2018/04/27/disney-reveals-avengers-infinity-wars-financial-muscle/#544918d84e48
