Starting this thread now to make sure there's emojis in the subject line so I don't have to struggle to find it all season or resort to using Find. Hope my next eye surgery helps.
Padre's split the opening games in S. Korea with a 15-11 win. Betts HR wins him a car. Kim hitless in the series. Fans super loud, cheering during each at bat.
ESPN scorebug probabilities taking too long to update - several pitches - they are probably running a shitload of simulations. They should remove them or gray them out or put a > or < symbol with them if they will go up or down.

With my #2 fantasy pick, Yamamoto 1 IP, 45.00 ERA. When's the NFL week 1 thread?? I have it worse than that. My league changed the scoring so it's 10 points for a save and nothing for a blown save. We drafted really early, and Devin Williams projected with a really high number of points, so I took him right after my keepers. Since then he got 2 stress fractures diagnosed and is out for 3 months.

I've had teams in the past 5yrs with Trea Turner & Mike Trout, missing the playoffs both times.

Only because I didn't see anyone talking about it (because it was stupid), the Jeff McNeil - Rhys Hoskins thing. McNeil was being a whiny bitch, which is fairly consistent with how he generally is. I don't think Hoskins did anything wrong there, other than try to break up the play but he did so within the rules. What made the whole thing worse was that it seemed to annoy Hoskins, who bludgeoned the Mets in the next game.
Good times!! Way to set the tone for the season!

They just flat out suck! They usually at least build our hopes up a bit 1st before crushing our dreams. As for the slide, I agree. It was a bit late and his foot was way behind the bag but his reaction was over the top. Only thing I thought was bs by Hoskins was he didn't say a word back when on the field. Then when he's in the dugout surrounded by teammates he starts jawing and making the crybaby signal, which was weak on his part. And don't get me started on the Estes-like "retaliation". Ok, had to get that out. Very therapeutic! On to game 5!

Rubbing salt in the wound, I'm getting hounded by the ticket brokers (I used to share season tickets with friends but stopped after '22) and I think they should read the room. They're so perky and chipper and they can't wait to tell me about all of the exciting offers they have on tap for this year! Fuck off. This morning, I politely asked them to stop calling, I'll call them when I want to buy tickets in bulk, or a group outing or something. If they call again, I'm going to snap.

The last three teams to do that were the 2007 Phillies, the 2003 Braves and the 2001 Cardinals. In major league history, four teams have started the season 0-3 and won the World Series — the 1998 New York Yankees (who finished the regular season 114-48), the 1973 Oakland Athletics (94-68), the 1914 Boston Braves (94-59) and 1911 Philadelphia Athletics (101-50).

Not to sugarcoat how disgusting the Mets start has been, but that chart is only from 2001-2010. Since then, more playoff slots have opened up so I imagine that these percentages would be impacted by it somewhat.

I can't imagine how many Mets fans they call who have not as polite as you! They probably cringe every time they pick up the phone to call and try to sell sunshine and rainbows when all Mets fans see is doom and gloom.

Change the name to the old PCL name, the Sacramento Solons (Solon is a lawmaker)
That's one odd logo. But I thought the jerseys were cool
Several times in its history, the PCL floated the idea of becoming a 3rd major league. The nearest MLB city was St. Louis. The league had a huge season because of the mild weather, at times 200+ games. They had their own stars, Arnold "Jigger" Statz, Frank Schellenback, Buzz Arlett, players who preferred the Coast. The PCL even had its own farm teams. But the idea was always shut down. The western cities could never support a major league team. The PCL had teams in San Diego, Seattle, Sacramento, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland and two in LA. Now, every one but Portland will have seen major league baseball

Bobby Witt is setting the AL on fire. He's worked on his defense in the offseason. The 11 year, $288,700,000 deal KC got him to sign could be one of the smartest deals in history. There's a team friendly three year team option that could keep him in KC until his age 38 season. Another George Brett, an icon in a small market

The White Sox may be legit contenders to break the 1899 Spiders losses record, or at least their offense may be historically bad. 8 games in and 13 runs scored. Even the winless Marlins have more than that.

Marlins void 2025 club option of Skip Schumacher. The guy gets to the playoffs last year and wins manager of the year only to be ousted a year later. This team added nobody of note in the offseason and has their entire pitching staff hurt. New GM coming into this year apparently wants to hire their own manager. So it seems like Schumacher was screwed right away no matter how successful he was gonna be. The Marlins are a fucked up franchise as is but this was just dumb as hell.
