Could my Royals actually be good this season?? Definitely on the upswing. Bobby Witt, Jr. is a stud and I'm glad to see KC locking him up long term. I've always liked Salvador Perez and he's a solid cog in the order. Rest of the lineup is kinda meh, but their rotation is fantastic. They can definitely make some noise and compete for a WC but they're still a year or two away from taking that next step.

Harper is definitely a Dapper Dan man.

What is Harper thinking as he rounds third right through the stop sign? "My hair." "My hair."

John Sterling announces that he's retiring, effective immediately. At 85 years old, Sterling has been calling Yankee radio games for 35 years. I have to assume he received some bad health news, thus necessitating an immediate exits. If that's the case, then all the best to John and his family.
He's actually a terrible play-by-play guy, as he routinely loses track of the ball, the score, the count....who is playing. But god dammit if he isn't entertaining to listen to. He'll be missed.

We get this every year. Oakland was n pace to lose 130 last year, "only" lost 112. Two years ago, it was Cincinnati, when they started 3-22 (lost 100 total). The Pale Hose will be bad. Right now, they only have two regulars hitting above the Mendoza Line. Worst team in White Sox history would be the 1932, 102 loss bunch. with Bob "Suitcase" Seeds and Bob "Fatty" Fothergill. And three HOFers, Luke Appling, Ted Lyons and Red Faber.
And I'll lay money that the Sox aren't the worst team in baseball. That'll be the Colorado Rockies. They have little talent, play in a brutal division and hamstrung with a ghastly albatross of a contract. Kris Bryant is useless and making $27,000,000.

Sterling went to the Phil Rizzuto School of Broadcasting. His score sheets were filled with "WW", "wasn't watching"
Is Suzie Waldman still there? The dulcet toned, angelic voiced Suzie Q?
I remember Opie and Anthony and Bill Burr ripping on her for a long time. Saying she sounded like Barney from the Simpson and Mr. Orange from Reservoir Dogs

The Mets are, dare I say it, fun to watch? When they started 0-5, they just looked unprepared for the season, like they were stuck in spring training mode. Every hitter was seemingly in an immediately 0-2 count, their defense was shoddy. Things started to turn in their 3rd series of the season in Cincinnati although they still didn't look sharp. But ever since they arrived in Atlanta, they just seemed to completely loosen up. Their offense has been really gelling of late, and they seem to have a knack for late inning heroics, which is always fun.
The mood is a complete 180 from where we were two weeks ago.

Jack Leiter, Al's son and #2 overall pick in 2020, makes his debut tomorrow for the Rangers. Texas is starting to look like 2023 was no fluke

Did anyone see Florida Gators 1b Jac Caglionone's HR Tuesday? Measured at 515 feet. Yeah, hometown measurement with a ball off an aluminum bat. But this went over the scoreboard by a healthy distance. Here's the video (camera couldn't track it) But here's the outfield and the scoreboard

The Mets already have Cowboy Ohtani in Nolan McLean. He has a few homers in high A ball and pitched a few scoreless innings the other day. Maybe one day, we'll see a team comprised entirely of Ohtanis.

Caglianone will be a top three pick in the MLB Draft. I think whoever drafts him will keep him at first

He's God awful as a play by play guy. I don't particularly care for his schtick but I get why Yankee fans love him. Sounds like his health is ok. Just old and tired and doesn't want to do it anymore. Glad he's not sick and I wish him well.

Every team loses 4 or 5 games in a row at some point in the season. Mets just chose to do so to start the year, which was brutal! 10-3 since has been nice. Still very cautious as that's what Met fans are conditioned to be. Starters have looked pretty good and their bullpen has been great. Agree it's a complete 180 from the start. Hope they can keep it up!
