Iron-Man can walk off into the sunset and look after his family with the occasional cameo. Cap can elope with Bucky so Chris Evans can work on some other projects for a few years and return when he wants some money. It sounds as though they are thinking about giving Black Widow a movie of her own and they would be freaking insane to get rid of Thor and Banner after Ragnarok. Someone can kill Hawkeye though. .......Please....anyone.....just put him out of his misery!. There's no hyphen in Iron Man.

Because everyone knows they’re coming back. Avengers 4’s selling point will be that there will be irreversible deaths. Probably only a couple, including Captain America. Tony Stark won’t die. They will want RDJ to cameo until he’s 90 years old, and he’ll do it too, for a fee the MCU will happily shell out.

That's why it was stupid to make it a 2-part movie and have a cliffhanger. They should've just made it 1 movie. But MCU Dictator Kevin Feige got greedy and wanted to make people pay twice the money to see what should've been just 1 movie. So you're saying David Heyman and J.K. Rowling are greedy to make the final Harry Potter a 2 parter? Is Stephanie Meyer greedy for making the final Twilight movie a 2 parter? Never seen those movies.

I disagree with that. I think if they kill off all of the main characters, they risk alienating a huge section of the audience. You only have to look at Star Wars to see the potential disaster lurking around the corner should Feige mishandle the next step. To me there's no other way. Feige and company put themselves in this situation. Now they have to finish the job and respect the ending of IW. I think that if the original heroes die honorable deaths, the people will embrace the next movie and love every bit of it. Comic books always killed the heroes off for good at some point, so this should be expected. So what are you talking about? Starlin's original 1991 story brought back people. What's with this love of mass destruction of fictional characters?

That would demean the impact of the stories and be inconsistent with the MCU at large, which has followed comic book stories fairly closely but not even remotely close to straight-up adaptations. Bringing some of them back is fine. It's a massive cop-out if they bring everyone back and allow everyone still alive as of now to stay that way by the end of Avengers 4. Just copy and pasting the ending of the IW comic series is the least creative and interesting thing they could do here. Also, the first half hasn't followed the comic series much at all, so why would they start now with A4?

What does it matter? They aren't real. Why play at it?

Supposedly 4 of the original 6 are going to die. Which makes sense for undoing what Thanos did.

As long as Gamora stays dead. Thats what the trade for the soul stone should mean, permanent death. If they bring her back im going to downgrade Infinity War from 8.5 to 6.5 minimum. It would take away a lot of her character arc as well as Thanos' which is the really the main plot line for IW.

How many heroes have been killed off in the comic books for good? None. Not even Bucky. The real Mar-Vell never came back, that I'm aware of.

It would take away a lot of her character arc as well as Thanos' which is the really the main plot line for IW. I hate to see her go but this is 100% true. She has the most powerful death scene in IW, to wipe that away is to undermine the character of Thanos as well as the entire story of IW. There has to be a cost, there have to be permanent stakes. I've heard theories that Nebula sacrifices herself to switch places with Gamora in A4. I might be willing to accept that, depending on how they handle it. It's still going to feel like a cop out and will ruin that scene in IW on subsequent viewings if they go that route.

The real Mar-Vell never came back, that I'm aware of. He's come back twice to my knowledge --- once in Secret Avengers if I'm not mistaken. Marvel is good about killing him again shortly after they "resurrect" him though.

There has to be permanent stakes. No there doesn't. Are there permanent stakes in James Bond movies? No, you always know he is going to live and save the world and he is still going strong after more than 50 years. I could list many other franchises too.

They've brought him back a couple of times in the last 10 years (I haven't been an avid comic reader since the 90s) and both times they've killed him off within that particular storyline, as if that excuses the corny resurrection in the first place.

If James Bond got killed in the middle of every James Bond movie, I don't know how excited the audience would be for his next adventure. And I'd like to think Marvel was aspiring to make something greater than a James Bond movie when they included a scene like Gamora's death.

Captain Mar-Vell didn't really matter as a character until he died. It's hard for me to think of any famous storylines which included him aside from his death in The Death of Captain Marvel. You would think that Marvel would be smart enough not to undermine one of their most poignant storylines by brining the character back... The one thing that actually made the character special was his death.

They never should have brought him back, for any amount of time.

Then IW went for shock value by killing off a bunch of characters. They can't walk all of that back now. You also have to look at it from a practical standpoint. Comic books can add and drop characters whenever and wherever they want. Movies need actors and actors need money. Marvel isn't going to pay for a bunch of new contracts just so someone that died in an earlier movie can come back. Maybe one or two, but not all of them.

Not only that but the films are getting crowded as well. Marvel is going to introduced a lot more characters these coming years, so it makes sense to trim the fat and since the original 6 were spared from the snap, im confident we're getting permanent deaths. Besides that exchange between Thanos and Tony makes me believe he's going to die.

Iron Man and Captain America will likely go.
They're supposedly making a Black Widow movie so she might stay along with...Thor?

Hard to believe they'd kill him off after the success of Ragnarok. I'd like to see Hawkeye survive, if only because he's barely had anything to do at all through how many movies now?
