What comic book hero is perma-dead? Movies are different, but heroes have died before in the comics. I don't understand why people think a superhero dying is some kind of impossible and highly offensive act. Someone mentions the word "death" and a whole group of people shit their pants. But we are talking perma-death. How many super heroes have stayed dead in the comics. Remember the days when the only heroes that would never come back was Jason Todd and Bucky? And, if you haven't noticed, the MCU movies are basically live action comic books. So the MCU isn't different from comics. The MCU is a person saying "Hold my beer" when another person says "You can't do what is in the comics on film."

Comics can bring people back by drawing them in. Movies have to pay actors huge chunks of money for a new contract and then find a way to make it secret for the fans on top of other logistically tough situations. Also look at the link I posted on a previous page to see a list of characters that permanently died in their comic book series run.

He's a fridge character. Hell, a bunch of those characters are fridge characters. I mean that list has legacy characters that passed the mantle on to someone else. They killed the Question just to give Renee Montoya the name. Jean Grey? Really? They even say that that Wildcat returned. What are you playing at sdrew...
You can contract a person for 3 movies, keep them alive and never bring them back after 1 movie. The X-men movies do it all the time. "Find a way to make it a secret for the fans"? You know you have to do the same for comics, right? News gets out.

Working on and signing a multi-million dollar contract for an uber-famous and loved actor is 1000 times harder to keep under wraps than just drawing the character into a comic book. Once again, you're missing the point. So let's just pretend that every character that's ever died in a comic book has come back later on. Now let's think about what power that has over the MCU: none. They can do whatever the hell they want. Maybe everyone will come back and no one will die. Gamora and Loki will be drinking margaritas on a beach with the entire Avengers crew (both old and new) as everything is restored to normalcy and Thanos loses. That makes the entire movie of IW worthless. Now if they go with my suggestion - a sacrifice by some or all of the old heroes to save the new ones - then IW will not have been for nothing. Thanos will lose in the end, but my hope is that the win for the heroes is at a cost. Again, I don't see why everyone is so against a few deaths. The death of a superhero sacrificing himself for those he protects and fights with could be one of the more powerful scenes in recent memory.

It doesn't make Infinity War worthless because it is about the journey as well as what happens at the end. If it made the movie worthless then what is the point of having a 2+ hour movie when you can just watch the last 5 minutes?
And we don't see why you are for deaths? Again, characters come back. And just to piss people off, I hope they bring back characters that died in previous movies.

I think what made infinity war worthless was the lack of story telling and disjointed plot, it was forced shocked value we see in all these terrible teen shows like gossip girl, where a character is fatally shot in the last episode but we know he is not dead but an OMG moment that carries no substance.
please stop trying to argue against common sense and good story telling. there are not in mcu movies, you should have just listened to james Cameron or chris pine who predicted what avengers IW will be before the film was released and got it right. cgi spectacle nonsense.

To think this prediction came to pass, please apply common sense for once.

Complains about war in general and specifically Infinity War. Stars in a movie where the plot is dependent on World War 1. I loved Wonder Woman, but I don't think he saw the irony in his statements.

If the rumors are true that Wonder Woman 1984 will be a Cold War Thriller (which I think will rock) and his character is back then you'll have 2 movies about war. Also it seems he doesn't know what the context of "infinity" is here. It makes him look slightly ignorant. He is taking it as War lasting for infinity or "for all time." A good rule of thumb, if you are going to put something down, make sure you know what you are talking about.

I think you missed the part when he said IW will have no plot and will just blow up cities. that was actually true. the movie is a cgi spectacle.

Except it wasn't true. Infinity War had stakes and was more than just explosions. Also you clearly haven't seen IW if you think IW is awful like you stated in your clear bias. So kindly I request you do the following: LEAVE THIS BOARD!

I have a question about that. 10 years, 19 movies, larger than life characters, how would you have adapted Infinity Gauntlet? I understand that X-men films have quite moments for the characters that push along the plot and usually they balance out well. DOFP balances the future and it's cgi spectacle with the Sentinels attacking with the period piece in the 70's. I just can't see how you can do that with 20+ characters. It's a miracle that Infinity War was even coherent and paced well. That movie could've collapsed under it's own weight but it didn't. As for the ignorant part I wasn't calling Chris Pine stupid. I meant literally ignorant. As in not having information. You can tell by the phrasing he thinks Infinity War = "we need more war for all time. "

Not 1 city was blown up in Infinity War. They fought on 1 street, in a park, on a dead planet, and in a plateau.

I think they were searching for a way to phase out the old crew and this might be the way. I mean, it's really a win-win right now. People LOVE Infinity War and that had plenty of death and a downer of an ending. Marvel now knows that the audience won't riot in the streets if a hero dies. They can now kill off the original Avengers (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Widow, Hawkeye, and possibly someone like Nick Fury or War Machine) to make way for the new crowd (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, etc). That also makes IW continue to stay relevant and costly to our heroes and the overall story, but also leaves room for more movies, which is of course the main goal. My advice to Marvel: don't chicken out. Don't turn back now. They have the world by the throat and making everything end all fine and dandy would be the worst thing they could do. It also offers a nice jumping point for people like me to leave the franchise since I couldn't care less about Captain Marvel and company. Me neither. If they get rid of all those that died in Infinity War (which I haven't even seen yet, but couldn't escape the spoilers everywhere), I won't be interested.

Nobody cared about any of those characters, now you guys see them as a jumping off point? You know them adding in new characters would start a new jumping on point, right?

Everyone knows that Marvel are super secretive to the point they didn't even give Tom Holland the full script for Infinity War. I've seen multiple actors joke about assassins in the audience being ready to shoot them if they spoil anything as well. They haven't given out the title for Avengers 4 so they're being secretive on that. So what I don't get is how Infinity War kills half the main characters off as a huge cliffhanger...but then a week after that movie comes out Chris Pratt says Guardians of the Galaxy 3 starts filming next year. They've just announced the title for the next Spider-man movie. They've confirmed the villain for Doctor Strange 2. They've even confirmed Black Panther 2. These characters are all dead and this is making it crystal clear that they're all coming back to life. I know that happened in the comic and most people figure they will come back somehow but it's making it pretty obvious how it's all going to end isn't it? That's why it was stupid to make it a 2-part movie and have a cliffhanger. They should've just made it 1 movie. But MCU Dictator Kevin Feige got greedy and wanted to make people pay twice the money to see what should've been just 1 movie. That's not the shit you were peddling when Justice League was supposed to be a two part film. Fat fucking chance of that happening now. Hee hee hee...
