I will watch this movie later today, And than i will give you all the factual answer to how this movie really is, I saw it today with my sister who really liked it. Its very good, my second time. I really don't get the blind fools who think she has no emotions or doesn't smile. Yon-Rogg points out at the end of the movie when he challenges her if she just kept her emotions in check...meaning she keeps displaying them

I saw CM for the third time on Friday (my wife wanted to see it again. We must work for Disney, eh haters?). During the credits there was a guy complaining about CM 'not having any weaknesses.' I'm tired of this commentary. What weakness does Thor have? He overpowered the goddamn infinity gauntlet. Unfortunately he didn't take the kill shot. But forget that recent turn of events, what weakness did Thor have, even before Stormbreaker? Anyone?
Thor has fought cosmic and mystical enemies who are extinction level event type threats and people just go with it. Carol blew up a spaceship. If you want to complain about her character arc or not having to sacrifice enough on screen to get where she is, those are fair criticisms. But this nonsense about her being overpowered or not having any weaknesses has to stop. She hasn't even done anything other than intimidate a Kree special forces unit (whose leader says he's going to come back for her, so he clearly isn't afraid, simply underprepared).

I know I have told the story over on the politics board. I believe I have said it here. I woke to find my husband of almost 21 yrs staring at the ceiling. I thought he was joking, told him to stop & went to the bathroom as many of us do upon waking. When I got out of the bathroom 10 minutes later dressed for the gym, he was still lying there so I told him to stop teasing again & turned the light on... And realized he wasnt teasing. I said "Oh, my god" but not at a yell, more dread & repeated it again as I grabbed the cordless phone, dialing 911. I said I thought my husband was dead, she walked me through CPR, told me the paramedics were at the door. They sent a social worker to sit with me until the body was removed, I don't know why. Maybe I wasnt freaking out enough, but I felt like a fricken robot. I made all the calls-my work, his work, family... I didnt cry until after his body went for cremation after the viewing. I had emotions, yes, but I was running through all the motions of what I had to do for 3 days. My kid was 10 & needed attention. It was a song that made me cry, I forget. Iris or Its Been Awhile. So it's really strange to expect all women to behave the same. We don't It was a month later "The Body" episode of Buffy aired. I watched it with a strange detachment like comparing notes of what I did vs what Buffy did.

Have any of the Marvel heroes failed? They lose battles, but win ultimately. Carol is just starting. She has been living by Kree rules & just come to the realization she doesn't have to play by anyone else's rules but her own.

Thor and CM are the only upper tier MCU superheroes without weaknesses. Vision is vulnerable to electricity. Wanda is limited by her insecurity and inexperience. Hulk has limited intelligence and is hard to control. IM is dependent on his tech and energy. Dr. Strange is limited by his human physique. Thor and CM don't have any known weaknesses. I do believe Thor is overall more powerful, but the main difference between the two is that writers are very careful to make sure Thor doesn't spam his powers. He'll normally fire off a few lightning blasts, maybe a ground slam or two but then he reverts back to h2h combat. Or at the very least they'll cut to a different scene so we don't see how he's decimating his opponents. The most he's ever continuously spammed his powers on screen was in the Ragnarok bridge fight, and even then he reverted back to h2h when he fought Hela. They also make sure they give him opponents powerful enough that he struggles against them. Hela, Hulk, Kurse, etc. In comparison, Captain Marvel seems a lot more trigger-happy with her powers. At the end of her movie she was spamming her photon blasts left, right and center. That and the ease with which she defeated all of her opponents once she went full binary mode. I think that's where the complaints about CM are coming from. If Thor just stayed in the air and rained down holy lightning hell on all his opponents, I bet you'd get complaints about him as well. Or if they allowed him to stomp his opponents as easily as CM did hers. Personally, I don't think CM is overpowered, but I do think the writers need to be careful with her and make sure they put some kind of power cap to her. Same way they limit Thor and make sure he still struggles in his fights.

She cut loose in one fight against some spacecraft and everyone is saying she's overpowered. Look at Thor's history throughout the films. The fight against the frost giants. Bringing the lightning against the portal in Avengers. Easily defeating Surtur. Hulk one-shotted a space dragon in Avengers and nobody batted an eye. What Carol did was no different, I don't understand what the fuss is about.

Even Hulk who one shot a Leviathan still got pinned down by the chitauri and was getting pummeled. As far as I can recall, every main MCU hero has struggled with their final opponent. Carol... did not. Again, I'm not saying she's overpowered. I'm saying the writers didn't give her enough of a challenge in her final fight which gives audiences the false impression that she's overpowered. So I don't agree with the complaints that she's overpowered but I do understand where it's coming from.

They gave her a weak opponent to overpower which only works to the detriment of the film and the character. I hope they find a better way to try to make audiences love this character going forward.

It's the same idiotic argument people use to hate Superman. Pay it no mind.
