I'm one of those Trek fans that enjoyed all the movies for what they're worth but these two are imo the best, easily.
That said, which is better? My vote goes to First Contact, damn fine directing from Frakes with a solid script and good action.

Wrath of Khan
I actually think First Contact is really boring.

khan, easily... while stewart and co are great and first contact is a very smart action film (actually my introduction to trek), nothing in it can match montalban's performance, or spock's death and funeral...

Interesting that you should pick those two to face off against each other. Is it because Wrath of Khan is widely (if not universally) considered the first "real" ST:TOS movie (as opposed to ST:The Motionless Picture ), and First Contact is widely considered the first "real" ST:TNG movie?
Well, I have to admit the above was kind of stalling while I pondered the choices. If the competition is for best ST movie of the entire lot, then I would probably say:
The Voyage Home. However, if the face-off is to determine the better of the two offered, I would have to say that while I think TWoK is probably the better-made movie (and arguably features the most iconic villain in the entire franchise), the one I personally LIKE better is probably FC.

Personally, my favourite is Star Trek : The Motion Picture. I can understand why it's not popular, but I adore it.

It's not available on bluray, I don't think, but man, it fixes a bunch of special effects and it's my favorite version.

I don't care for FIRST CONTACT that much anymore and I NEVER liked the way they did Cochrane and STAR FLEET being some weird group. As much as I despised ENTERPRISE the episode FIRST FLIGHT should have been how FIRST CONTACT was. Like a bunch of Mercury astronauts and Chuck Yeagers testing out warp ships.
So KHAN wins because almost everyone can understand revenge...
