Sorry forgot- Soundtrack-absolutely, perfect, matches the story and setting like no other film before or after it. Super-Superb! "It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.
Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy...." Has the music in your head stopped yet? mine neither

When I was a kid I felt the first film was dull compared to the other two movies. Now I know better.

I haven't heard anyone ever trashing A New Hope. I also don't see any reason to hate this movie. It's as perfect as movies get and it's just an amazing experience.

I think some people are sour nowadays that the rebels won.

As others have stated, a new generation has come along and grown up with the PT. For them, of course they will prefer what is new over the old. We must remember that A New Hope is 40 years old come May (in terms of release date). It won't seem as "cool" for new generations as it was for us. I get it. Then there's another group who just hate everything (i.e. Lindwell on IMDB). For them...

I've never come across any prequel fans trashing or criticizing ANH. However it has become very fashionable and popular amongst Rey fans, and to a lesser extent TFA fans, to trash ANH. The most common thing that avid TFA fans attack is Luke Skywalker. Luke is trashed in comparison with Rey. The claims are that he is a bigger MarySue (especially), less relatable, less endearing, more poorly written.
But I've also come across attacks on ANH as being poorly written, poorer character development, poor special effects, and even sexist. All in comparison to TFA, not the prequels.
It became very fashionable amongst avid TFA and Rey fans right after TFA started drawing notable criticism for rehashing ANH and Rey being a MarySue force user... about a year ago.

I've never seen a TFA fan trash ANH. (I like both the OT and TFA.) But I've seen many people on the ANH IMDb board trash it. And those folks were almost always either PT fans or action movie fans who didn't like any Star Wars. Imo at least, BB ;-)

I have never seen that in all my time online. It's always the Prequel fanbrats who do that. Don't try to make this about fans of the new films.

To bb15 and weirdraptor:
I'm not lying about what I said. I've been on IMDb boards and my personal experience was that it was ALWAYS TFA fans who were trashing ANH. There was no mistaking it because they clearly declared that they were TFA fans. I can even name names if necessary. Now that may not be what you want to believe, but it's the truth! Call it a lie and live in denial all you want.

The place was littered with trolls, who claimed to be...a. great. many. things.

According to your theory before TFA came out, there were no negative comments about ANH on its IMDb board and there were no low IMDb ratings for ANH at that time. Your theory is wrong. - I was also on the IMDb ANH board for many years before TFA came out and several times there were posts which trashed ANH (but often the person praised the PT). - Before TFA, ANH had thousands of 1/10 votes on IMDb (all major films on IMDb have 1/10 votes). Your idea that before TFA was released that ANH had 100% positive comments and 100% positive ratings is a fantasy. Imo at least, BB ;-)

Many major science fiction movies had them and I had long debates with these trolls since I'm almost always a defender whether it is for ANH, Lord of the Rings, 2001, Blade Runner, Star Trek 2009, Prometheus, or Arrival. - Putting aside attention seekers who quickly left a board, some harsh critics would stay for many months and those IMDb members every time sincerely disliked the movie that was being discussed. Added to that, every year on a Star Wars IMDb board there would be a thread asking for a ranking of all the Star Wars movies. In those threads, sometimes ANH would be ranked very low. My conclusion; ANH is not universally loved. Imo at least, BB ;-)

That is correct, the trashing is of course of old as Star Wars itself, but the tu quoque finger pointing recently came mostly from the TFA fans due to the similarities of the movies, e.g. when it was pointed out that TFA rehashed 90% of ANH plot points, it was pointed out that ANH rehashed The Hidden Fortress etc (which is blatantly absurd); or when the Mary Sue writing was discussed, it was stated that Luke was even more a Mary Sue (which is ignorantly absurd)...A clear indicator of this is that fans will immediately switch into denial and insult mode.

Uh, we're ALL from the IMDb boards here, and I never saw anything like that. I frequented the Star Wars boards a lot and I will tell you, it's mostly just the prequel fans who hate on the original trilogy. I'd know. I was in a million and one arguments with idiot prequel fans claiming that the OT committed all the same ins the PT did. They claimed our nostalgia is the only reason we don't like the Prequel Trilogy. They even had the nerve to say Mark Hamill was just as annoying as Hayden Christiansen and that Carrie Fisher was just a vapid and fake as Natalie Portman. I guarantee very few will mourn the loss of Portman when she goes, let alone mourn her the way Fisher's being mourned right now.
I don't care how many names you list, it's still a lie.

In general the trashing of things that large numbers of people rate highly became fashionable when the hipster population swelled like a diseased penis full of puss. The trashing of A New Hope (or as I refer to it Star Wars) specifically seems to be limited to morons that do so in an odd defense of The Force Awakens.
The one thing we can all take away from this is millennials are insufferable and everyone hates them.

Sorry Cap I didn't hang out on the Star Wars boards so I missed all the original trilogy bashing. I only know of a handful of prequel fans and they are all RABID everything Star Wars fans. Most would rather be punched in the face repeatedly or do some physical labor before they would insult anything Star Wars related.
