I'm a laugher in general but I'm usually not honest when I type lol. Actually, I don't even like the LOL but when I'm at a complete loss I'll type it, lol. 😁

I have to admit that I don't always sit there at my keyboard and LOL when I type LOL. But I PROMISE if I were actually there and someone verbally said the words that I was reading that I would at least give it one of these in real world response:

Well, I am getting used to using Firefox again to write on here but it just feels so much slower than Google Chrome especially when I am loading articles that have ads on them and they cause my browser to freeze sometimes and have you ever had freezing problems with Firefox and know what the best solution is 'cause it is the same problem I was having the last two times I was using it when I was going back and forth with Google Chrome and it is so annoying when you are trying to write on here and it gets jammed. I have heard of Microsoft Edge and I think that is the browser the X Box One has and I might install that and see how that goes. Sadly my Uncle wasn't able to fix the Google Chrome problem with logging into here and he got it to log into my Instagram account with some link he got that made my profile logged in and all I had to do was type my password in again but I have given up with Google Chrome with this. It is good to have somebody who can fix things for free for you and my Uncle has a friend who is a computer technical and he fixed my laptop for free when I was having problems with it but I had to give it to him for a few days and he said he could fix this but I would have to give it to him for a few days again. As long as it is working this way is all that matters and I am mostly happy with Firefox except for the jamming problems.
It would have been a mess if I had left it that emoticons came up every time members wrote words and some people don't see the fun in using emoticons like I do but it was fun having that forum before I had to close it down and it was mostly something we wrote on to people we knew in person and I was mostly a moderator on a a music channel's forum for a few years and I met a lot of good members on there and was friends with the Program Director and he would send me free advanced albums in the mail along with merchandise and I got to pick some of the songs for the countdowns they had on the channel and got all the schedules for the shows in advance but some psychotic moron and his friends came along and ruined the forum for everybody and it went on for years until the Program Director had to close the forum down.
When I bought my current laptop, Google Chrome was my favourite browser. But then I had some scary display issues while maximizing windows. I automatically blamed it on Google Chrome and immediately switched to Firefox. As it turned out, the culprit was my HDMI cable and I replaced it and everything was fine. I never went back to using Chrome, cos I was very satisfied with Firefox. Even though I don't have a fast computer, I can't remember a time it actually froze. I guess I'm lucky so far.
Maybe you should remove all unnecessary Firefox extensions. Try uninstalling Firefox completely and then install the latest version. Also the problem maker might be some other program you've got running while using Firefox, such as an Antivirus. Close everything except Firefox, disable Firefox extensions, use just one tab and see if it still freezes. I'm not an expert, so my suggestions are limited.
If Firefox slows down while loading pages with ads then you can try the extension called uBlock Origin that blocks all ads and is light and doesn't use much computer resources. It was suggested to me by the user mslo79. I wouldn't recommend Microsoft Edge. It falls way short of Chrome, Firefox or Opera. Thanks for the advice redhorizon . The first computer I had which had the internet on it had Internet Explorer and I remember there was another browser called Netscape Navigator but I don't seem to see that one being used anymore and when I discovered Firefox and upgraded to that it was so much quicker than Internet Explorer and I never used Internet Explorer again after that. Is Microsoft Edge the latest version of Internet Explorer under a new name 'cause I remember Microsoft owned Internet Explorer and can see why it would be slow if it is that. I will never forget how slow Dial Up was compared to what we have now and I tried watching videos on that and had to wait ages for them to load and when I got Broadband they would load in no time and I had a lot of fun watching music videos on the internet and there were all these music videos I had wanted to see of some of my favourite artists and bands they hadn't got on any of the music channels on Foxtel or shows like Rage and I could finally watch them and now I am still discovering other music videos of artists and bands I didn't even know existed on sites like You Tube but they are blocking us from watching some of them outside of North America and deleting videos too and then the videos are being put back on with bad audio or video quality.
I have never had any Display issues on the screen on my laptop but I had to get another monitor for one of my old desktops when it wouldn't work anymore and I got a virus one time and lost all my files and had to have everything rebooted and install Windows again. I didn't have anything backed up at the time 'cause I didn't think I needed to and wasn't running virus scans and doing updates like I should have been and since then I have backed everything up on portable hard drives so I don't lose anything especially my music I have got from I Tunes and ripped onto my laptop from CDs. I think my Laptop is fairly fast and it is a lot quicker than some of the previous computers we have had over the years and has more than one hard drive but I hear as far as internet speed goes we are very behind in Australia with some of the other countries in the world and should be moving a lot quicker. It takes a while to download movies and video games which is one of the reasons we still buy most of them physically and I have had browsers that froze before and if you try to do anything else you make it slower or it jams the whole thing and you can't do anything.
I will look into uninstalling unnecessary Firefox extensions 'cause I think it could be one of them and the freezing problem I believe is coming from Adobe Flash 'cause I have got error messages from Flash when it was playing up in the past but I don't get them anymore and I didn't really have any problems online until I got the latest version of Trend Micro and installed it a few months and ever since then I have had a few and it has conflicted with a few things and I have had to uninstall them and reinstall them again and I think Trend Micro could be conflicting with Adobe Flash and that is what is causing the jamming but I am not sure how to fix that 'cause I thought upgrading Flash might work but it hasn't made any difference and I think we will be changing to a new antivirus program soon. Thanks for suggesting uBlock Origin and I will download that when I am on next time and let you know if it makes any difference. Thank you for all your help.

I remember Netscape Navigator. I had it for a few years on my first computer which was a desktop. But I don't recall actively using Netscape. With Dial Up being mind numbingly slow and with limited hours of usage, it didn't matter much if the browser was fast or not. Internet Explorer had a firm hold back then. Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer are different browsers. Edge was made specially for Windows 10. My current laptop has Windows 10. Before that, I couldn't use the latest versions of browsers because I was using Windows XP. It seemed like an eternity before I finally switched to Windows 10. YouTube or anybody cannot stop me from watching the videos I want to see. I turn on my VPN when occasionally some video is blocked. In Firefox, I use the extension Touch VPN. It works without a fuss and till now I've never encountered a "Your limit has reached" message. I'm not familiar with Trend Micro. I have just the pre-installed Windows Defender. I don't want to slow down my PC even further by installing another Antivirus. But if push comes to shove and my PC is infected then I'll choose one of the free ones. Most probably Avast.

The last week has been very stressful and my Aunt has been in and out of hospital and she just got released for the second time today and I am hoping she won't have to go in again. I am not sure what I have done or if this was an update that has solved the problem but for some unknown reason my Google Chrome is working again like it used to and I can log into the IMDB2 Boards and am writing this to you now on my Google Chrome browser and I am happy everything is working again and after looking at some things before I realised Trend Micro was still clashing with some of the programs I have so I removed the programs and installed them again and that might have been what solved it. We have been using Trend Micro for a number of years and we moved from McAfee to it and I haven't had as many problems with it as I have with this latest version and I think they made some changes this time that are there to block you from using other Antivirus programs 'cause they only want you using theirs and they stopped giving us the CD and we now have to download it online.
They don't like Malware Bytes or Glary Utilities and those are two programs I have Trend majorly clashes with and I have Windows Defender and I have heard it is best to have more than one Antivirus program and I never heard of Avast until you mentioned it and if I have any other problems with my Trend Micro I will look into getting it. I have heard of VPNs but don't know anybody who has used one so I am not sure how they work and do you have to buy those on CDs and install them on your computer? That is nice to know you found a way around You Tube blocking you from watching videos 'cause I hate the blocks they put on music videos and they just seem so silly and they do it with trailers for some movies too and I don't understand why they can't just work everywhere. We haven't got Windows 10 yet but we are going to upgrade to it in the coming months and can you buy a full version of that or do you have to pay per month or year 'cause I remember reading something about people having to pay per month or year for that.

Thank you for the reply, Deb. Don't worry about not replying sooner. Hope your aunt is getting better. It is a sad week for me too cos one my dogs died. She was nine years old. That's good that your Google Chrome is working again. Once upon a time I had McAfee too, but changed it when I realized it wasn't catching everything. I don't know how the current McAfee fares. I think they stopped giving CDs for Trend Micro cos CDs have become obsolete. I have Malware Bytes on my old laptop. But that laptop is not connected to the internet. I've never used Avast Antivirus but have used its subsidiary AVG AntiVirus for many years. Avast acquired AVG in 2016. I've never come across a trailer block on YouTube. You can try out Touch VPN if you want, it's the one I use even though there are other alternatives for Google Chrome. I updated my Chrome and installed Touch VPN just to see if it works smoothly. You can go to the Chrome Web Store and search for it or alternatively you can Google it. Type "Touch VPN for Chrome". It's free. Click add to Chrome and it will be installed as an extension. After installing click on the Touch VPN button in your browser and then click Connect. Once it's connected the icon turns green and you are good to go. You can browse normally after that. Windows 10 Home can be bought with a one time payment of AU$225.00. It is available as a download. I found this out by googling "windows 10 australia". I don't know too much about upgrading operating systems cos I've always had Windows pre-loaded in computers. Always happy to help

I'm actually laughing out loud when I type "LOL" in RL. If it's something that I find mildly amusing, I'll just type "ha!" or "hehe" instead.

Always happy to help That's okay redhorizon and yes, my Aunt is getting better and it is still going to be a while before she fully recovers from this and will be able to drive and go out like normal on her own but she has been walking around the house without her walking frame lately and feels better and she doesn't have to see a nurse every day either which is a big step in the right direction. I am very happy for her and I was so worried about her while she was in hospital and I didn't have the best relationship with my parents and they both abandoned me when I came out to them when I was 14 but I have always been really close with my Aunt and Uncle and aside from my older Sister my Aunt is like a Mother to me and she taught me nearly everything I know and my love for cooking and craft comes from my Aunt and she is in many ways my idol and I love her a lot. I am so sorry to hear one of your dogs passed away recently and I know I would be a mess if one of our Malshis died 'cause they are out babies and we lost our first dog years ago and I cried for days and it is something I still have trouble talking about now 'cause she died of cancer and we knew there was something wrong with her and we kept taking her to the vet and having her checked and the vet told us she was okay and then we took her to another vet and we found out the truth and by then it was too late and the cancer had spread and she only had a few days to live.
I blamed myself for it for a long time and now I know it was the vet that was to blame 'cause they didn't pick up on it and they shouldn't have a job 'cause there is no telling how many other pets with problems they have ignored. It is good my Google Chrome is working again and it is going faster some days than it used to too but there are some videos that are still not working on it and I don't know why but they work if I download the videos and load them on Media Player and it has to be some type of problem with one of the video extensions but I am not going to worry about it at the moment and am just glad everything else is back to normal. I think you are right about CDs and we still see some computer programs on CDs in shops around here but not as many as we used to and a lot of shops that had sections for computer programs and games are gone now and we have also had some computer shops close down 'cause there are more people buying and downloading things online than getting them physically. I kinda miss getting things like that physically though 'cause it was fun going to the shops like Harvey Norman and seeing all the new programs and games and I got a lot of good computer games in the 90s and 00s and I would get collections that had 500 and 1000 games in them. Did you play many old computer games?
Thanks for explaining VPNs to me. I am not up to date with the latest things like that and after I left the music forum I was a moderator on I mostly stopped using the internet for years and fell behind with a lot of things and so many things had changed when I joined the IMDB Boards and I am still only finding out about some of them now and it makes me feel old. Thankfully some things haven't changed that much and are still the same like Emoticons but sadly a lot of the sites I got my emoticons for before are now gone. We will definitely getting Windows 10 and I am happy we only have to buy it once and not pay for it every few months or years.

Good to know your favourite aunt's health is getting better. I've read before about how your parents abandoned you, but still can't help but remark that the age of 14 is too young for such a traumatic event. I googled Malshi, I've never heard of that dog breed before. They are so cute from the photos, I've never seen them in real life. During our dog's final days it was sad to see her worsening health. By the time she died, I was expecting it and even though I felt the loss, I didn't cry. It was quite a shock to my mother because she was expecting the dog to live a little longer and wasn't prepared for it. We took her to the vet just a few days before her death. The doctor said it was old age related problems and gave a tablet and tonic. I know that he had no idea what the exact cause was and to this day I don't know what caused her health to deteriorate so rapidly. Don't blame yourself for your dog's death, it wasn't as if you did nothing for the dog. You cannot judge their actual condition because they don't have the means to fully express their feelings to us their owners and when the end comes, it comes fast. It's strange that your Google Chrome works fast on some days only. I haven't visited a computer shop in a long time. The programs I've installed on my current PC are all free. You're telling me that you've actually got a CD that has 1000 games in it? That's mind-blowing. During the 90s I had a Nintendo Video Game console, notable games were Contra, Mario, Donkey Kong Junior, Tetris, Batman, Golf, Tennis, Soccer, Bomberman, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Joust, Mortal Kombat, Lode Runner, Pac-Man, 1942, Road Fighter, Urban Champion, Battle City and many others. As for desktop computer games, I remember playing Recoil for a while and some other action packed games, but my computer hardware was always lagging behind to properly play the games of the early 2000s, so it was a waste to actually buy the games. If you ever want to install and use a VPN, feel free to ask me again and I can tell you how to go about it. You have a good collection of emoticons, hold on to it. Don't lose the links!

Oh, and I love getting phone calls from them. I am not a pro at keeping them on the line for a long time, but I can usually get them going pretty good. I had one lady get so angry with me. We were doing something like reducing my student loan or getting me a better credit card rate. She asked if I was employed. I told her in a proud voice "No employment on my record. Perfectly clean. Not one employment". So she simply thought I didn't know what that word meant. So she asked if I had a source of income. I started making that into a question of semantics "How can an income have a source? An income has no direct link to a source..." She finally asks "Do you have a job?" That's when I snapped back "Well of course I have a job! What kind of person do you think I am?" She hung up.

One of my coworkers on Facebook sprinkles the LOL's throughout her posts, often starting off a sentence with one, a couple mixed in, and ending with a capitalized one. I doubt very much if you're laughing that much, Sharon !
"One of my coworkers on Facebook" is the start to a bad story somewhere down the line.

It could be the start of a horror movie, if only you knew Sharon!

Thanks for the kind words redhorizon and it was hard for me having my parents abandon me in some ways but easier at the same time 'cause I was free of them and when I was young I spent so many years trying to hide who I was 'cause I was afraid they would find out and punish me or send me away and I felt like there was something wrong with me 'cause of the way my Father used to talk about homosexual people and there were never any religious reasons for why my Father was against homosexuality like Beccy's parents he was just a bigot who hated everybody that was different than him and if there was a picture definition of the word my Father fitted it perfectly and when he wasn't putting down homosexuals he was complaining about people he called 'black bastards', 'wogs', 'curry munchers' and 'frogs' and saying how they were ruining Australia. While my Mother wasn't as openly a bigot as him I never had a close relationship with her growing up and she spent more time going out with her friends than she ever did with my Sister and I and left us with our Grandfather and Aunt and Uncle and when she did spend time with me she was always telling me what to do and talking down to me and she was very stuck up and nothing was good enough for her.
Still having the two of them abandon me and not once try and contact me or my Sister when they knew how to find us hurt 'cause they were our parents and parents are supposed to love their children and support through everything but my Sister was more like a Mum to me growing up and I learned a lot of things from her along with my Grandfather along and my Aunt and Uncle and when my Grandfather passed away it was one of the hardest days of my life 'cause I was closer to him than I was with my parents and I loved him so much and didn't know how I could handle living with my parents without him. He left us a lot of money and he wasn't a billionaire but he had a lot and would always buy us things and our parents kept the money and never gave it to us and after all these years I wouldn't want it now if my Mother gave it to me but I would want a lot of the photos of my Sister and I with him and things he bought us 'cause those are worth far more than money to me. Both Beccy and I don't have our parents in our lives anymore but we are happy without them and we have a family that love us and support and my Aunts, Uncles and cousins sided with my Sister and I over our parents.
Malshis are adorable and the Maltese Terrier recently came in at number two on the 'Countdown to Australia's Next Top' dog show on Channel 7 behind the Labrador and Occy and Sally look more like Maltese Terriers than Shih Tzus but they get very fury and their fur grows over their eyes if you don't give them a haircut every now and then so we get them groomed regularly and they come back looking even cuter than they did and Sally gets little pink ribbons in her hair. We were originally only going to get one but when we saw the two of them and how close they were we had to get both 'cause I would have felt mean if I had separated them and it is surprisingly easier having two than one 'cause even though they can get into double the mischief they keep each other amused and play with one another. It is sad watching a dog in its final days and I am glad it didn't come as such a surprise to you but it still wouldn't have been easy and the saddest thing about dogs is most of them don't live for a long time even when they are healthy and a lot of people are lucky just to have them for 15 years and I think it is unfair and dogs should at least live for 50 years but they live on in our hearts and I cherish the time we got to spend with our first dog and know we were lucky to have her in our lives. I am sure your dog loved you as ours loved us and thanks again and you make some good points and I don't think there is anything we could have done differently since we didn't know until it was too late.
Yeah. It is strange my Google Chrome plays up some days and others it doesn't and it does it in the night sometimes too and works fine in the afternoon and the 'Not Responding' message drives me up the wall. lol Yes. I did have a CD that had 1000 games on it and it was actually 2 CDs and one was green and the other was blue and the green one had Dos games on it and the blue one had Windows games on it and they sold a lot of games like that in Harvey Norman in the 90s and you would get so many great games in them and some were only demos and others were the complete games. I loved the Commander Keen series, the Hugo series, the Skunny series, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Jill of the Jungle, Paganitzu, Hocus Pocus, Word Rescue, Math Rescue, Lemmings, Jetpack, Kye, Supaplex, Fatty Bear etc etc and those old Adventure PC games were a lot of fun and I was disappointed when the companies stopped making them in favour of shooter games like Doom and Quake and I wish ID Software had never bought Apogee 'cause they held a lot of their properties hostage and wouldn't sell them back to the creators so they could take them to other places to get made and many of them have only got the rights back for the games now. I would love to see some of them come back or new collections of them but I have a Dos Box which can play many of them and my youngest Niece likes a lot of them.

we didn’t have those when I first got online Deb 😀 When did you first get online Jayman? I used the internet a few times in the late 90s and we had a computer but it wasn't until 2001 my Sister and I got the internet 'cause she couldn't afford it and I didn't start writing on any chat or forum sites until around 2004 'cause I didn't trust them at first and was worried about some of the stories I heard about people dealing with weirdos and hackers on the internet. I got most of my Emoticons when I was a moderator on the music channel's forum and when I had my own forum for a while I learned how to install emoticon packs into the Admin panel and I saved a lot of them in folders so I wouldn't lose them. Some of the Pokemon emoticons I still use now are from back then and others I have only got in the last three years. A number of the sites I used to get Emoticons from have sadly closed down now so I have to keep looking for new sites now and I am planning on going on a new search for some new ones this week 'cause I especially want some Christmas ones.

I got online probably like the end of ‘95. I was on AOL mostly but I am not sure if people used them other places at that time. But i think a couple of years later with upgrades people were using them a little bit. Sadly the ones I use from my phone while posting here look great when using the mobile version but look like crap when people see them on the computer 😀 Like this 🍻

I really had myself convinced that religion was the primary cause as to why your parents acted in such a cruel way. Curry munchers must probably be directed towards people like me. I don't understand who are Wogs and Frogs though. Australia is a great place, I don't think it's getting ruined. Although something's maybe happening to the Great Barrier Reef. You certainly have some harsh things to say about your Mom as well. Hope that in time you can move on from all the past hurt.
Hope you get back all your photos and gifts. The gifts were your own. Your parents have no right to withhold them. I think you should accept the money if your Mom ever change her mind and offer it to you. It won't mean that your attitude towards her have to change. Many people fight tooth and nail to attain what is rightfully theirs. Some succeed, others end up getting very little of their share.
Occy and Sally are cute names for little dogs. I bet Sally is oblivious to the ribbons in her hair. It's also easier to distinguish Sally from Occy if they are of the same colour. It's a good thing you didn't separate those two. A dog that lives for fifty years! Imagine the number of puppies getting born. I'd prefer if their puppy stage could last a little longer. One moment they are puppies and the next thing you know they become young adult dogs. Even during our dog Mindy's final days she would wag her tail whenever I saw her and called her name.
I used to buy a tech magazine that came bundled with CDs and it had demo games and software. The CDs had demos or trial versions of the even the best top games of the time. It was a marketing strategy of course. Among the games you mentioned, not one of them seem familiar to me. I was ignorant of most of the games during that period. I did play Doom once, just sampled it really. I liked the movie better. I don't know what a DOS Box is, but it sure sounds like a lot of fun. Truth be told, I'm past the stage of enjoying computer games.
