Five way tie. Shazam was actually decent and while I enjoyed Captain Marvel more, I wouldn't say Shazam got 'owned.' Unless you're talking about box office.

It's a close call between
Captain America: Civil War vs. Batman v Superman Thor Ragnarok vs. Justice League
The quality gap between the respective films is massive. Have to go with Thor Ragnarok over Justice League. It still amazes me how shit JL was.

I see a lot of amnesia here. Everyone seems to believe that Civil War going over crappy BvS is the hardest MCU owned DC. However, BvS was the movie that came after awful Man of Steel, the rotten foundation for a crappy universe. Even if BvS was one of the most anticipated movies of all time, that terrible movie depicting a dark, emo, weepy Superman had done half of the job on making people doubt about BvS and Snyder. However, looking back a few years, you will see the Avengers, a movie had to compete against the follow up of one of the best (the best for many) comic book movies ever: The Dark Knight. The Avengers success came of nowhere. Its previous movies, as good as they where, did not make that much money and it seemed they did not have the popularity of DC's big guns: Batman/Superman. DC fanboys and Nolanites where over elated and confident that TDKR will destroy everything, everything. After the incredible success of TDK, the Oscar for Ledger and the billion dollar run, they had this victory already taken and were celebrating, abusing, insulting and destroying every existing fanbase on the planet, way before these movies were released. The overconfidence and mocking behavior they had was even shadowed by their bulling and craziness. They never, in their worst nightmare, believed that Avengers will ever come close not only in quality to TDKR but in box office. Oh, how wrong they were and how crazy they went. After Avengers crapped all over TDKR, they went nuts. Insulting and threatening people, who now had something to fight back them. Death threats to critics. Mass shooting. Need I say more? This blow and the crappy MoS were the end of Nolanites from CBM's (thankfully) and only the more resented fanbase on the history of mankind was left behind. Everything else is and will always be the consequence of that day when Avengers arrived and broke every record existent at the time (while braking some behinds too).
Also, I see it as not fair to compare MCU films to mostly crappy DECU. At least, Avengers was competing against Nolan and Batman's seventh movie (8th if you want to count Adam West one).

2016, when Captain America: Civil War beat out a film that put cultural icons like Batman and Superman together on the silver screen for the first time.
As with most of us, Shazam was easily better than Captain Marvel so it wasn't "owned".

Wait... Captain Marvel owned Shazam? I don't know, mang. That's a bit of a hard sell. Shazam was pretty good. One made over a billion and the other couldn't even get up to $400 million. Yeah, Captain Marvel owned the shit out of Shazam. Honestly, Shazam is the better movie though. So who cares about numbers?

And guys (raptor, Archie, Weibs), it really is great to have you all back, but do we really have to ressurect these old DC vs Marvel feuds?
It's so tiresome.

Yeah thinking about it, that hasn't been much of a thing here for a while actually. Which was pretty refreshing. None of those predictable DC Fan threads about PLOT HOLEZ. None of this pointless obsession with box office numbers. And honestly, I don't understand gloating about DC's failures. As a comic fan I want DC to succeed and believe their recent critical successes are good for the genre. The poor quality of some their past films was a tragedy, not something to celebrate.

There's a longer inside joke behind it, but I'll just share the blame with Raptor and admit it was my idea We actually don’t really ever discuss this tbh. The thing is, what we found refreshing, was getting away from the childish trolling that was never dealt with here. That’s why we’ve been gone.

This is a hard topic for me, because I don't want to run down DC Fans. If you want DC to succeed then it would be very difficult to understand, but I'm someone who when I first became interest in comics in my teens more or less immediately saw Marvel as the far more organized brand with a vision and larger potential. So for me they were never equal, and seeing my assessment come true is quite satisfying. I get far more enjoyment out of Marvel's success and even though I know it pains fans of DC, I'd be lying if I didn't say it's a bit of a 20 year payoff I told you so moment. I have enjoyed watching every single failure, I won't lie.

Man of Steel was also better than Iron Man 3 too. Iron Man 3 is better than any of the DC films in my opinion except maybe Batman Begins. Man of Steel is still a perfect example of everything that's wrong with superhero movies turned up to 11. I still can't believe that third act was allowed to be played in cinemas.

I disagree. I saw "Captain Marvel" three times in theaters and loved it every time. One viewing of "Shazam" was enough to make me hate it. I care about the numbers.

Pretty much, I just want more good movies to enjoy, I don't want crappy movies so I can gloat to the other half of the comic fanbase. Marvel or DC, they're all nerds regardless.

As with most of us, Shazam was easily better than Captain Marvel so it wasn't "owned". Not sure I'd go with that. I really enjoyed Shazam, as I did Captain Marvel. I've watched CM twice since and enjoyed it. Shazam I tried to watch again, got halfway through and turned it off thinking I'll come back to it...still haven't (same situation with Aquaman which I also enjoyed). It seems the better DCEU don't hold up to repeated viewing for me - I struggled with Wonder Woman second time round also. Yet when shite like BvS, JL and Suicide Squad appear on TV/cable I end up watching them...and still hating them

Basically, yes, and I should probably change my answer to "Avengers vs. Dark Knight Rises" now.

The box office different speaks volumes about what a silent majority thinks.
