Yeah, Shazam was far better than Captain Marvel. Wrong. Objectively wrong. Shazam >>>>>>>>>> Captain Marvel bro.

Did you seriously just hijack my account just to post at me? No I clicked edit instead of quote. I'm gonna fix it. Nothing about RottenTomatoes is objective. The only sure thing is the box office.

Nothing about RottenTomatoes is objective. The only sure thing is the box office. In terms of financial success which isn't the same as quality.

Box office tells you how much people liked it. Suicide Squad made a ton of money, it made more than Winter Soldier. Nobody liked it.

Nobody really cares about Shazam so i don’t know what this discussion about which is better is about. Captain Marvel was a very good film, that is both relevant and highly popular, so what are we talking about?

Honestly, Shazam is the better movie though. So who cares about numbers? I disagree. I saw "Captain Marvel" three times in theaters and loved it every time. One viewing of "Shazam" was enough to make me hate it. I care about the numbers. Why not the critical numbers, then? Reviews are far more important than box office numbers. And both Captain Marvel and Shazam were critical successes. I do believe Shazam even got a higher RT score.

Critical numbers mean jack shit. Some of my favorite films were critically panned, at least at the time of their release. And RT scores are about as reliable my 90 year old Grandfather's bladder.

And guys (raptor, Archie, Weibs), it really is great to have you all back, but do we really have to ressurect these old DC vs Marvel feuds? It's so tiresome. There's a longer inside joke behind it, but I'll just share the blame with Raptor and admit it was my idea We actually don’t really ever discuss this tbh. The thing is, what we found refreshing, was getting away from the childish trolling that was never dealt with here. That’s why we’ve been gone. I guess I will just stay out of these types of threads then. I don't care much for these fan wars.

There's also great movies that flopped and terrible movies that succeed too.
Shawshank Redemption bombed. Minions made over a billion.

Which was pretty refreshing. None of those predictable DC Fan threads about PLOT HOLEZ. None of this pointless obsession with box office numbers. And honestly, I don't understand gloating about DC's failures. As a comic fan I want DC to succeed and believe their recent critical successes are good for the genre. The poor quality of some their past films was a tragedy, not something to celebrate. This is a hard topic for me, because I don't want to run down DC Fans. If you want DC to succeed then it would be very difficult to understand, but I'm someone who when I first became interest in comics in my teens more or less immediately saw Marvel as the far more organized brand with a vision and larger potential. So for me they were never equal, and seeing my assessment come true is quite satisfying. I get far more enjoyment out of Marvel's success and even though I know it pains fans of DC, I'd be lying if I didn't say it's a bit of a 20 year payoff I told you so moment. I have enjoyed watching every single failure, I won't lie. I also like Marvel better- both the comics, the characters, and the movies (for the most part anyway). But to want all DC films to fail and enjoy it when they do just makes zero sense to me. I hated Snyder's vision as much as anyone... But to root against the brand as a whole? Even when the movies are good? I dont get it.

There's tons of examples. But I guess the new live action Lion King is better because it made more money.

No. I like Captain Marvel. Quite a bit actually. I'm not trying to change your mind on it. I just disagree with your argument that it crushed Shazam. well it did. Outside of just the box office, Shazam isn’t culturally relevant or even relevant within DC. Nobody talks about it. It’s nothing. Maybe it could be argued that it’s a better film, Indont know because I haven’t seen it, but it got crushed by carol. But Joker is about to crush all of them! Send in the clowns!!!!!!&

But Joker is about to crush all of them! Send in the clowns!!!!!!& How? In terms of cultural relevance, I suppose. People seem to be talking quite a bit about the movie, and it’s not even out yet. The people who have seen it have been discussing how so much of the film mirrors today’s society, and there have been back and forth arguments on whether or not that’s a good thing. The words “scary”, “haunting”, and “disturbing” have all been used to describe the film so far.

I wouldn’t define that as crushing Captain Marvel but it is looking well done.

Whenever Hollywood claims a movie is "mirroring today's society" it usually only mirrors their own biases.
