They are having a laugh, surely. There is nothing I’ve seen this WC that even closely resembles an Ireland win over New Zealand. Yeah, he picked the three teams that have lost a match in the tournament to go through!

Yeah, he picked the three teams that have lost a match in the tournament to go through! I think the article is pretty spot on in regards to the Wales v France and RSA v Japan quarters, but he’s predicting an Ireland win because this NZ side isn’t as good as the last two WC winners, and Ireland have beaten the AB’s ONCE. That’s pretty thin reasoning. Likewise, he’s predicting Australia because they can win big games, and they will go into this with a siege mentality. That’s the exact same logic you can use to say England will win FFS. Australia can win, they have enough game breakers especially in midfield. But it’s a double edged sword. I don’t think Australia wins if it’s a battle of territory and penalties, nor if it’s a wide open “you score, I score” try fest. Keep it close, keep the scoreboard ticking over nicely and make England do the running should be the tactics, and end up in front after 80.

First Quarter Final almost done and dusted - England doing the business against Australia 40-16 with a minute to go. Next up - Ireland v New Zealand. Big win for the AB’s I’m predicting, 42-18.

To be fair - it’s a good England side but a pretty ordinary Wallabies side.

I'm planning to watch all the 1/4 finals live. Had to get up a lot earlier than usual!
England too good for Australia. 40-16.
NZ v Ireland up in 40 minutes.

Ireland have actually beaten NZ twice (in their last three meetings.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_rugby_union_matches_between_Ireland_and_New_Zealand#Results

Cant believe the bullshit from the pundits over here saying Ireland have a chance. Sure they only beat NZ in a friendly last year not a proper game like this. Hope they pull off the miracle anyway for the countrywide party afterwards

Have been hearing them on the radio over the last few days Amazingly the only Rugby WC games shown on Irish tv are the Ireland ones. You have to switch over to ITV to watch the rest

When's this shit ending?
It's Saturday, football is supposed to be on the wireless right now, not this incomprehensible gibberish.

I was just watching the highlights of the Ireland vs New Zealand match. At the 4-minute mark, when the score was still 0-0, there is a play where an Irish player intercepts a pass with one hand, the ball drops to the ground, he picks it up, starts running with it, but a penalty is called. Would somebody please explain why? You can only intercept a pass if you manage to keep the ball in your control? Is that it?
