Hearing modern popular music and thinking "what is this crap?" and Reading about the new crop of re-make and sequel films and wondering "when did they run out of new ideas ? "

Hearing modern popular music and thinking "what is this crap?" and Reading about the new crop of re-make and sequel films and wondering "when did they run out of new ideas ? " Oh, that's easy. Everything out of Hollywood has essentially been a remake of Rescued from an Eagle's Nest (1908).

Definitely the Cousin's Christmas party we have every year at my Aunt and Uncle's. Even though I am looking forward to it tomorrow night and have been waiting all year to see some of my cousins again who live far away from us now seeing them and how much their children have grown always makes me feel old. I mean one of my nephews turned 16 this year and he is nearly an adult. Time really does fly.

Visiting with my fellow veterans from WWII (very few) Korea and Vietnam war era. I am a Vietnam war era vet and look forward to meeting the new crop of vets who seem to remain unrecognized by the vet groups out there.

Feeling a bit sad when I watch Airplane! because I realize that a lot of younger (under 50?) viewers don't get a lot of the references in the movie.

I am a Vietnam war era vet and look forward to meeting the new crop of vets who seem to remain unrecognized by the vet groups out there. I was a Legion member, went to one meeting and was the youngest guy there. The next youngest guy was a Vietnam vet and it was his first time. Everyone else were WWII vets except the local commander who was Korea. I never went back mostly because the old timers were cranky and yelling about politics and how this or that were the problems with America. It was obnoxious and I didn't like it but out of respect for their service I kept quiet but never attended another meeting.

Sarge, too bad you left the Legion. On the other hand, I have had nothing but a great experience with a wonderful group of veterans. I was also elected Commander of my Post and it was a prodigious experience. We have our meetings at an Elks Club location and we have dinner and conduct our business which is primarily related to Legion functions. And the food at the Elks Club is spectacular. We have 85 active members, 6 of which are WWII.

I went out to buy music CD's (as a gift for someone else ) and couldn't find any. The stores are getting rid of music CD's! Remember stores that sold nothing BUT music?! Tower Records? Virgin Records? What happened? What happened?

Hearing a song from when I had graduated University - only to make me go:
Uh....dude....that song is now over 20 years old.
As well:
Hearing a song from when I was in my last year of high school - only to make me go:
Uh....dude....that song is 25 years old.
Joker's Wilde See how it hits ya when its 30 - 35 years old!

I was a member for 10 years after my only meeting and left the Legion for other reasons but that's not a topic for this thread.

The calendar. I mean, the next page on my calendar indicates "2020"... Wait, what?! Seems like just a while ago we were getting all panicky about Y2K and stuff like that. In some ways it feels like the decades are just flying by.
Also: Looking at my latest driver's license photo and not recognizing who that is looking back at me.
Also: Being really comfortable with short hair and simple, non-stylish attire. When I was younger I didn't always have that "if the shoe fits, wear it" mentality towards clothing and style, etc. Nowadays, with a more mature and realistic mind, I do.

That song, "All my rowdy friends have settled down," really hits home, although at this point I'm kinda settled too.

Still haven't migrated to ipods because I just can't be bothered and I still burn CD's. Some douche cashier at the Super Market got snarky with me because I pulled out a flip phone to check the time. I told him to have a wonderful minimum wage day I have no intention on getting a smartphone and can't stand the culture behind it. Meanwhile the world is just marching ahead with them.
Still have VHS players in the house because I spend thousands of dollars over the years on tapes and I am not about to just throw all that time and work away and force myself to buy it all over again on a new format that will be abandoned soon enough.
Yeah, I still have and use my VCRs every week, as do my 2 younger brothers. Something that makes me feel old. I can't stand on one foot anymore. I have to lean up against something.

Going from noticing some grey strands falling into the barber's cape to trying to find some dark hair in there somewhere.

Seeing my parents age.
Thinking of times in my life when I was growing up and realizing that I'm currently older than my parents were during that time period.
Running into classmates that I hadn't seen since high school, and seeing how much older they looked compared to how I remember them.
