Often people parrot the opinion of the group to fit in. Have you EVER known me do that?

I dunno... I just thought it was a stupid speech... Listen to Gervais, "Just come up and get your little award, thank your agent and God... and then, fuck off." I agree, Gervais is a highly over-rated comedian and since his last globe speech he really has just become more of a shock jock than an actual comedian. You mighta read my response wrong... or it was shittily written I love Gervais... I thought he did a great job.

Hmm bugger I will have to adjust my opinion then if I want to fit in.
EDIT:
OH I see, you were saying that Michelle Wiliams' speech was stupid, sorry my bad, I simply read your response at the top of a page without reading the rest of the thread. I must confess I have not seen it or heard it. Yeah I am not a fan of Gervais.

In one of the groups I belong to, on FB, one person shared a post which said "She literally held a golden idol while proclaiming she had to sacrifice her kid for it." I find that an emotionally blackmailing type of over-reaction, illogical and unhelpful. And what would be helpful, in your own mind, Goz?

For people to accept that everyone is different, we all have different circumstances moral values and agendas, and it is unhelpful to project our own onto other people, especially women who are the ones who bear children. They have a right to decide what they wish to do with their bodies, when and where and with whom they procreate as it is a lifelong commitment. What is really helpful is if people are NOT judgmental and mind their own business. I have always liked the truism 'Walk a mile in my shoes' before you comment let alone criticise.

The fact that we are all different is not a reason to kill one's own children, be they born or unborn. Being a movie star, Michelle Williams should be quite well off, & no need to snuff out the tiny life in her womb. She proudly thanked "her choice" for that lump of gold she was holding on Awards Night. Her unborn child will never have the opportunity to do anything to merit an award of his/her own.

That you count an early foetus as an unborn child is exactly what I am talking about. That is YOUR opinion and YOUR moral value, obviously NOT hers. Mind your own business. You realise your are placing YOUR morals and opinions above those of the mother, right? What gives YOU that right ( or anyone else)?

It is a human being & had a right to live. When she told the world she had an abortion, & that she chose to abort specifically because of her movie career, she made it the business of the millions of people who heard her say it. Otherwise, she should have left her abortion out of her award speech.

YOU or anyone else has no right to say otherwise. She was an advocate for 'choice' for all women and I applaud that.

She chose a huge lump of gold, over the precious life that was inside of her. Obviously you applaud her for destroying that tiny life, but, I do not. There were millions of things she could have thanked for that award; she could have thanked her parents; best friends, the late Heath Ledger (though, I believe that she & him were separated at the time of his death), but, she thanked the snuffing out the life of her unborn child. That child would have been her daughter's brother or sister, & she took that away from her.

She CHOSE an opportunity over a potential life. That is a VERY different thing. AS for the speech she made, it was saying just that. She is pro-CHOICE. Let me just give you this scenario which is personal to me. Say I was a talented and famous film star. I was offered a major role and I was pregnant. To accept the offer would not be possible due to the pregnancy. I say no. Two weeks later I miscarry. In my case it would have been FIVE major roles I knocked back BECAUSE of YOUR GOD and YOUR moral values. I will admit, that like me, she was fortunate in being able to get pregnant at will, however THAT is the risk that she took. In that scenario she can still give her child another brother or sister.

Williams need not mention her own business either, but regardless, it is most certainly NONE of yours. Right to body autonomy is first and foremost and you as a female should understand this more than anyone. It was a child, who had a right to life.

It was a child, who had a right to life. The fetus was non sentient and the blob of mucus was of absolutely no consequence to your life in anyway, shape or form. Who do you think you are trying to control what other women should do with bodies and own lives. God and Jesus have nothing to do with it either. My arm, it is. It is a human life. A whole new life. Opposing abortion is not about telling women what to do with their own bodies. The baby is an entirely separate human being.

No, it WAS a child, & had as much a right to life as you, me, & Michelle Williams. Yes, she chose opportunity over life, & that is very sad. That is just phony sentiment and doesn't have any ring of genuine honesty or truth to it. No, it is genuinely honest. Life begins at the moment of conception.

My arm, it is. It is a human life. A whole new life. Opposing abortion is not about telling women what to do with their own bodies. The baby is an entirely separate human being. My arse! Not until it is born and detached from its mother, is it a fully fledged human life that has to play by the rules of sentient human life. Williams hasn't asked you to feel sad for her either with your distorted, phony and nosy sentiment and outrage. I guess you don't care about women feeling empowered and making their own choices in life. You have serious control issues lady. It is human life, distinct from its mother. 2 different human beings. Michelle Williams didn't ask me to feel sad for her decision, but, she did publicly state her choice. And I am sad for that choice. Women being empowered, should not mean that they have the right to kill. Same with men. My control issues are only with respecting human life. So sorry that you do not seem to believe in respect for human life.

Have respect for someone else’s life that came first and how they CHOOSE to live it if it isn’t affecting you. I imply nothing. Michelle Williams publicly thanked the fact that she had the life insider womb terminated, for that huge piece of gold she held in her hands. I respect ALL human life, both born & unborn.
