Quicksilver I remember nothing about this film except that I saw it, and that Kevin Bacon zooms around San Francisco on a bike. For these purposes, I trust that's enough.

Even though I'm not a big fan of westerns, I've always said that the only things any decent director needs to create stirring cinema is a camera and some horses. The film's already been mentioned on the thread, but I wanted to add that Spielberg proved in E.T. that the same can be true of kids on bicycles. That sequence with Elliot's friends pursued over hill and dale on their BMX bikes - the cinematography, editing and rousing music scoring - comprise what I feel are the best moments in the entire film. Beginning about a minute into the clip below, what follows are two-and-a-half minutes of what cinema is all about. My word, that's good movie-making.

The new priest of Ambricourt finds himself the unwelcome stranger an intruder in the close knit rural community. Bicycle bound he carries out the duties of his ministry, attempting to act as a link between his parish and the locals. Gaining no ground he remains a mere spectator who soon becomes transparent in the eyes of his flock. Journal d'un curé de campagne , Diary of a Country Priest (1951) Dir. Robert Bresson The Priest of Ambricourt visits his parishioners on his bicycle...

Downwind of a sus looking upholstery van the motorbike cop seems a bit disorientated and ravishingly hungry when he pulls over the smoking van and its occupants, asking... Cop: What do you guys want? Pedro: Nothing. Cop: Hey, do you mind if I have a, bite of your hot dog? Pedro: Huh? No man, here, take the whole thing. [the cop takes a huge bite] Pedro: Want some fritos? Cop: [through a mouthful of hot dog] no, this is fine! Thank you! Hey, you fellas have a nice day, okay? Well you have to be there... a funny film from its era, stills holds up well. Cheech & Chong"s Up In Smoke (1978)
