Featuring in a number of Japanese classic films is velodrome bike racing; Keirin is a form of paced cycle racing in which track cyclists sprint for victory following a speed-controlled start behind a motorized or non-motorized pacer. Popular in Japan, professional track cycling began as a betting sport in Japan in 1948. An excellent social/crime drama Kanzen na asobî aka The Tragedy of Today; Perfect Game; (1958) Dir.Toshio Masuda centres around a betting scam on a bike race...I have a review on the imdb Kohayagawa-ke no aki , The End of Summer (1961) Dir.Yasujirô Ozu Onna Keirin-ō , (1956) Dir Kiyoshi Komori

Cycling is not always good for the health. Juan Antonio Bardem's 1955 classic Muerte de un Ciclista Death of a Cyclist
Another movie where the death of a cyclist triggers the action is Separate Lies (2005) dir: Julian Fellowes and starring Tom Wilkinson and Emily Watson. This is a very good movie which seems to have slipped under the radar. The death was off-screen so I can only show the consequence:

Watched a couple of nights ago, Sukeban burûsu: Mesubachi no gyakushû , Girl Boss Blues: Queen Bee's Counterattack (1971) Japan Dir. Norifumi Suzuki. A gang world of knife and gun fighting, bike and car chasing, and violent death, not for all tastes the exploitive Pinku films of the late 60s and 70s. Never have seen anything quite like this Bikers race gang-bang, Pinku style !!

Romantic classic, Random Harvest (1942) Dir. Mervyn LeRoy. The film stars Ronald Colman who plays a shell-shocked, amnesiac World War I soldier with Greer Garson in support. The dramatic melodrama became an instant commercial success, earning seven Oscar nominations, among them, for Colman, and supporting actress Susan Peters. Peters portrayed a young woman who falls in love with...A performance that garnered critical acclaim, earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. A bike rests at this cosy picnic setting, famous for the kiss... Publicity still for Random Harvest... Susan Peters
