Music, exercise, cuddling my animals, prayer, looking at something peaceful. Animals are really great for that right? My cat was a life saving force for me in my down times. These days I use a hot shower, watching Two and Half Men, or self-rocking while I lay down, thats my most recent discovery as a helpful technique to de-stress.

I surround myself with things that comfort me. I just bought a Pound Puppy exactly like the one I had as a kid. I also have my comfort shows. There's several, but Boy Meets World is one of them. Hallmark movies, too. I watch a ton of Hallmark movies. I love them.

I haven't tried self-rocking, but I do use self-talk as a coping skill. Whenever I start feeling overwhelmed I repeat a short phrase I've created. It almost always helps me calm down.

Well you're a younger person , but it's different for someone older . When you're old , your mind is a lot more vacuous , that's to say less concentrated . So when there are problems , you generally don't worry as much when younger .
When I was younger in my late twenties-early thirties , I would walk anywhere , sometimes for hours , and problems would dissolve with the activity . And sometimes I would walk until I had forgotten , read days . At least once a year ,I was a happy carefree hiker gone for a few days .
But my great hero that I discovered was Puddy from Seinfield . A guy who happily forgot everything , and his girlfriend eventually gave up on him , because of his ability to sit for whole days without a thought in his mind .
My present trick is to listen to techno-chill -

Walking my dogs has always been an important part of my self-care

My immediate go-to is taking slow, deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth.

I also spent 3 Sundays in March putting together Harry Potter Lego sets, which was very calming and relaxing. I've had to abandon my Lego weekends though because I don't have any place to put these things lol.

I've done self-rocking since I was a child. I also rely a lot on my dog. I saw a bumper sticker on a car that read "Who rescued who?" in a big paw print, and I thought, YEP! My dog's a rescue and I'm convinced he's the one who rescued me. Also watching the old, classic movies on TCM. Nothing with a laugh track. Preferably B&W.

My immediate go-to is taking slow, deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. yeah thats a good one too i do that sometimes too. with thinking of love when i inhale and fear as i exhale (love coming to me, fear leaving my body). I used to do this before each performance, it helped.

Nothing... honestly this might be a reason I have been almost fainting when I get too stressed out . Because I don't cope at all.

My brother had 3 of them when he was a kid, if I remember right, a big gray one, a little black one, and little brown one. I was always jealous, I wanted them too, but when I was 8 I got the Pound Puppy van playset.

I have had 2 incidences where I am so stressed out, more than usual, like about to see red stressed out, and first I have a killer headache that absolutely NOTHING will touch, and it then turns into a grand mal nosebleed that nothing will stop, that by the time it's over, the whole sink looks like a crime scene. The second time it happened, my mom had me take my blood pressure right after it happened and I don't remember what the number was but she was freaking out.

Everybody has great answers.
The first thing that comes to mind for me, when I have the time and opportunity, I read. Whatever I'm reading, I sit down with it for half an hour, an hour, and it helps.
Another one for me, I held onto a few stuffed animals from when I was a kid, and as a teenager I found out the nights I couldn't get comfortable to fall asleep, it would work to hold onto one of them. A couple years ago I made a regular habit of it with one, and I could fall asleep very easily, and quickly, etc., and then I put it in the washer, and it wasn't destroyed, but the fur came out all matted and rough and nothing I tried could correct it. So I went to the thrift shop and found one similar to it. The effect isn't the same but it still helps. Oddly enough I also found out it can have similar effects just to have it beside you under the covers where you can touch it, don't have to hold it the whole time you're trying to sleep.
