Would love to hear your opinion.
You probably know it is said that
boomers are: hard working/like to project as tough/ are too conservative/rigid in opinions / more geared toward corruption / less sympathetic toward others and
millennials are: entitled, lazy, unreliable bleeding hearts without real principles behind it, and while creative they are also mentally quite fragile.
All of the above are stereotypes and generalization of course, but as far as stereotypes and generalization goes, do you agree?
So I am wondering if you find it they mostly stick or not, within
A) your group, the one you belong to and B) the other group, one you observe as a member of the other.
Happy to hear various thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

I am a Boomer, with two Millennial sons (yes, I know they "ought" to be Gen-X or -Y, but my husband and I got a late start ), and I think my "Status" description sums me up pretty well: "Bleeding-heart moderate." The same description would probably fit both my husband and my sister, whom I live with, and as for my boys...well, they're probably more progressive than I am, politically, but I would not agree that they are lazy or entitled. Mentally fragile? Hmm...to quote Pope Francis, "Who am I to judge?"

Without getting political on here (cause I love posting on this forum and don't want to get banned) I'll go with the generation that grew up in the Great Depression, lived thru the terrible Spanish Flu pandemic, invented the "Golden Age of Hollywood", helped create iconic comic book characters like Batman & Superman, created a ton of inventions that we take for granted for today, oh and helped win World War II and curbstomped the Nazis. I also cringe when some snot nosed douchebag Millenial tries to insult an elderly senior citizen by calling them "boomer" ("Okay boomer! lulz haha") Its infuriating the lack of respect so many of these fucksticks have for their elders (and I say that as someone that is in his 30s) Do these stupid idiots realize that EVERYONE ages and no one is immortal? Unless they are one of the pussy ass sparkly vampires from Twilight (pretty sure they don't exist irl though) they are all gonna die some day and age like everybody else. These cocky 20/30 somethings should be so lucky to live as long as a lot of these senior citizens and show some respect to them. Its basic banners and having some common decency (its not hard at all to do either) Sorry for the long winded rant folks but that has always irked me and it still does.

Things like that have no meaning to me. I work 45 hours a week at a physically and mentally demanding job but I never think about it. I just do.

You know the people you described in your first paragraph aren't Boomers, right? Boomers were their kids, called that because of the "baby boom" that occurred when everyone returned from the war and got their fuck on.

All I know is that Generation X stole their title from a British Boomer punk band…

I have a deep seated suspicion of Boomers, as I was of the punk generation and had to endure them as the older generation before me. So I consider the Boomers the people who wreaked havoc on our strength and resolution as a society with their hippy dippy 60's rebellion. Snotty punk fucks and flowery tripping hippies were the same thing 10 years apart: dumb youth falling for simplistic rebellion against growing up. I suppose each generation has its share of garbage calling the previous one names.

As a tail-end Boomer, I have a resentment of the older Boomers, who believed themselves to be special, entitled, and so much more enlightened than the previous generation, who despite their prejudices and other faults in many ways were really the "Greatest Generation." Many of those Boomers became the same kind of people they rebelled against in their youth.

Well shit you would be correct (I even googled it too and fucked up royally) The fact remains, I'd still take baby boomers or any generation over millenials any day of the wekk. Totally my fault and thanks for the correction lol. I'm going to go sit in the corner and wear my dunce hat the rest of the day (no excuses from me other than it was very late when I posted that and finished a very long shift at work. Sorry about that and appreciate the correction. Have a happy new year!

I think boomers were born into opportunities, they take that for granted and think millenials were afforded those same privileges....but they weren't bc they were born into the world the boomer generation created, which is shitty bc boomers are individualists who don't care for the planet let alone their own family or others. Boomers are entitled and out of touch.

Boomers typically are perverts that's something I've noticed.
Gen x are pretty much boomers who wish they were millennial. Also very entitled.
Millennials have the most attitude. Grew up in the 90's so that would explain it
And gen z is very quiet and reserved.

I guess then, my boys would still be Millennials, but now I realize they're also Gen Y--good to know. Wow, I am seeing a lot of blanket condemnations on here. While I wouldn't deny that a lot of Boomers do tend to be entitled and selfish (and, alas, too many of them/us jumped on the pendulum when it swung back from extreme left in the late '60s to extreme right in the '80's and beyond), is it really necessary for some of you in succeeding generations to wish all of us Boomers to the trash heap? Remember, many of the things you claim to value were invented or at least improved by members of the Baby Boom generation. Besides, not all of us were Hippies or Punks (I certainly couldn't claim to have been either one), so forgive us if we don't appreciate being lumped in with the lamentable ones you excoriate. To quote Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?" By the way: it's spelled MILLEN NIALS. A lot of people--not just in this thread, but all over--miss that second "n".

Most young people were neither hippies or punks but many were affected by changes in fashions and music. I lingered on the outskirts of both but there was also soul, funk, reggae and disco going on during the 1970s so I dipped into all the subcultures.

I won't argue with any of my friends who are wrong in this thread.
