This is from that shitty Sylvester Stallone movie "Over The Top." It's been stuck in my head all day. I don't know why. They kind of made Kenny Loggins like a bargain bin George Michael. This might be a drunk post. I shouldn't be drunk off 3 Budweisers but I drove to MI after working 3-11 and only got a couple hours sleep before going to Kindergarten graduation and I'm still up. I thought I' d be asleep by now but maybe too much caffeine. Anyway happy Monday.

Well I don't think this is a "crappy" song at all, but a lot of people do for some reason.

That's not an easy question. If I like a song, it has some element which I enjoy which elevates it. If I think a song is total crap, I won't listen to it, let alone like it.
When people talk guilty pleasures, they don't mean things they think are garbage; they mean things that they like but assume other people will think are garbage. They recognize what they like has flaws but assume other people won't see past those flaws like they do and appreciate it. It's not about their own appreciation; it's about how they believe others would react to them liking it.
And ironic appreciation is the same as genuine appreciation in my book. Anybody who posts a bad song because it's so awful it must be heard has genuinely come to enjoy that song and wants more people to hear it. Once they've committed to spreading it, they've come to love it. Don't let them claim otherwise.
...
That all said, my pick is Go by The Chemical Brothers.
I'm a longtime fan of The Chemical Brothers and I can safely say this album ("Born In The Echoes") is their worst. This is the only song I found to be salvageable and that sounded like them in their prime. More than that, I like it.
Yet there's so much I dislike about it.
The flow of the vocals is primitive and reminds me of the early era of electronica, where bands wanted to get a rapper to put verses over a song but didn't pay much mind to how stutter-stepped the crap lyrics would be over a robotic dance-ready boom-click-bap. It's like something from the dark ages.
I hate the rising action at the end of the "choruses". It's like that uncomfortable feeling where you have to pee but are too busy with something else so you just tap your leg around like a moron.
But that chorus... it saves the entire song. It's a bombastic explosion of synth and vocals, ushered in by a chiptune flourish, and it never fails get my head bobbing. It's downright cathartic. And I never mind having someone tell me "No time to rest. Just do your best." I feel the urgency but there's no pressure.
It also gets props for the Q-Tip cameo.
