I don't think boxing left much of a face for any surgeon to work on properly. Cliff Montgomery had a car accident that took much of his good looks away, but it wasn't on purpose. Mickey put his face out there in boxing and made it rough on cameras. Rourke rode that "boxing ruined my face" excuse for a it was worth. In reality, he fought a handful of nobodies. I've seen a fight or two of his own YouTube. There's about five real punches thrown, his opponent takes an obvious dive, and the fight is over. He got work done because he was vain and wanted to look young. Thanks. This makes more sense. Have you ever seen photos of Gaddafi when he was young? He was flat out handsome. Very good looking. As he got older, he messed with unususl plastic surgery methods to try to keep from aging badly. He turned his face into a hideous disaster that was ridiculed. He did this to himself.

That's also my biggest complaint about Laurel and Hardy.

Both are crap actors these days, but at least Rourke could act once. Not sure Cruise ever could. Decent action movie star though. LOL, I could never imagine Cruise playing Jan the Actress in ANIMAL FACTORY, or The Cook in SPUN.

His movies are garbage.
Even his best movie, The Wrrestler, is fairly boring.
I didn't see The Wrestler. The Wrestler is an absolutely superb film and Rourke is on fire in an unforgettable, emotionally charged performance, he lets it all hang out.

Mickey Rourke is a damaged, flawed, f..... up person, but he has heart and soul. He sure ain't much to look at anymore, but I think he's kinda beautiful on the inside. I can still remember the first time I saw Rourke on the big screen. It was in the 1981 classic BODY HEAT, I had never heard of him, but he played the part of an arsonist and he was electrifying, lighting up the screen and stealing scenes with a dark, dangerous energy. His 2008 comeback as Randy Robinson in THE WRESTLER is one the greatest screen performances I have ever seen. Rourke has paid his dues and then some, he is entitled to express his opinion.
