I just saw a compilation preview and it looks even more visually stunning than ever. July 16th is a date I have reserved for me time and Game of Thrones.
This is the first season that I will watch each episode week by week, I have always binge watched before. Hope that turns out well.

It's gonna be huge. Only 7 episodes this season, but the finale is 81 minutes long.
Watching week by week sucks because the wait between episodes always feels huge.

I usually rewatch the episode at least once during the week.

Pauca sed matura - few but ripe; the motto of Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss, called by some Princeps mathematicorum* (Latin, "the foremost of mathematicians"). If they went this way: less episodes, but these - starting with the writing (no fillers) and ending with the budget for each episode - with a far higher quality, then I'm absolutely fine with it. * aka the Tom Brady of math

This is the first season that I will watch each episode week by week, I have always binge watched before. Hope that turns out well. This show has always had some of the best production value of any television show. Granted, HBO has a massive pot of gold to work with, but even with that, the show is completely cinematic in scope. I avoid trailers for anything I'm remotely interested in as I like to go in completely blind. Too many movies have had key plot points idiotically revealed in trailers. HBO tends to be better with that, but still, I'm going to watch it, no need to have any shots ruined for me. And while it's always nice to sit down and power through a handful of episodes/seasons at a clip, this is one show where it really behooves you to watch as it airs, especially as we near the homestretch of its run and huge things are in store. If you open a web browser on Monday morning, or work with multiple people, you are inevitably going to have it ruined for you if you haven't seen it. As an aside, S5E7 Hardhome is probably my favorite episode of this show, and the opening sequence from the finale of last season was one of the best things I've ever seen put to film (the score, the editing, the performances, the building tension, the stakes for all characters involved - just brilliant in every way). But Hardhome, man that episode was killer. Terrifying, gruesome, completely surprising and really sets up for what could be a ridiculous climax to the show.

I am looking forward to the Ice King and Whitewalkers invasion of the north this season.

Yes S5E8 (Hardhome) was amazing, probably the best tv episode of 2015 even though season 5 wasn't so good in itself. Also loved the final two episodes of season 6. My all-time favorite is still probably S2E9, the battle on the Blackwater. This season should be crazy.

Gonna be weird having GoT's and the football season at the same time. Will try to avoid all spoilers till ep 6(will be very hard with the way Sky shove GoT's down our throats) and then binge watch the lot.

Like the show, can't wait for it to come back..and yet at the same time, I feel it's kind of hugely overrated.

Excellent premiere. The second best premiere in the show's history. This season seems to have a more epic feel too. The production in episode one was amazing.
