Marxists are nice people, and hey, if a man wants to be a sodomite, who is he to judge? Now the wormy little crud wants to rewrite the Lord's Prayer. Just when you thought it couldn't get any sillier. I'm not even Catholic, and I find this totally ridiculous. When I first saw the headline a few days ago I thought maybe he wanted something less gender-specific than "our Father." Maybe that's coming later. www.foxnews.com/world/2017/12/07/pope-francis-wants-to-change-line-our-father.html

On those grounds alone I think it is a good idea, and I am an atheist......every little helps!

Nothing to fret over. And I believe the Bible is the literal word of God. This is a huge nothing burger. Enjoying your pure hair shirt?

A cilice or a hair shirt is usually worn by people who are very pious as a penance. Goz was mocking your piety as you quoted the Bible. What she does NOT realize is it is not ONLY worn by Catholics but by Anglicans and other Protestant denominations.

Enjoying your pure hair shirt? Lol I wish I understood your reference. Help me out. Pure hair shirt? OK. Listen up! The Bible states that you can't mix fabrics hence every garment should be 'pure'. 'Hair shirts' are donned for suffering amongst Christian sinners, akin to self-flagellation.

I saw this on MSN news with the same headline. When I read the article it explained that the pope is trying to correct the translation rather than the original prayer. I would not call that selling out. One must not expect a full explanation of that in a news headline. But I am surprised that Fox is taking the same approach to reporting it as MSN has.

Going by how much bling popes always wear, I'd say they "sold out" long before Francis.

What the OP does not say is that Francis is not rewriting the Lord's Prayer; he wants to correct a mistranslation. What the OP also doesn't say is that this mistranslation was already corrected in France, without "news" outlets like Fox News making a fuss about it.
So the Pope did not rewrite the Bible; former translators did.

Anyone know if it is the 'Lead us not into temptation' part? Yes it is. Thanks. I can kind of see that because He doesn't lead us into temptation.

Thanks. I can kind of see that because He doesn't lead us into temptation. Which is exactly the argument of the Pope. He says that it's not God who leads people into temptation, it's Satan. And apparently, the original Bible verses said something like that too. Personally I don't really have a dog in the fight, since I don't believe in God or the Devil.

Thanks. I can kind of see that because He doesn't lead us into temptation. Isn't that the same thing? If I tell you, "Don't open that door," that's the same as "Open not that door," isn't it?

Maybe it should be written like the type of joke that Borat was trying to understand: "Lead us into temptation........NOT!"
