Poor Keanu haha. Dude is getting picked on in this thread but rightfully so (he was terrible in Dracula )
Some other choices would be Sam Worthington in ANY role where he is playing an American . Keep in mind, my freaking user name is one of his characters (AVATAR) but even in that role, his accent was easily noticeable . I still dig him as an actor but dude just can't hide his Aussie accent at all.

sostie RE: Van Dyke -- Mary Poppins Oddly enough, back in the Olden Days, when these movies were made, they were just enjoyed and not analyzed and nitpicked and searched for goofs until the joy was sucked out of them. The ability to do that is one of the downsides of the internet and other modern technologies. (imo)
As for the cast mentioning his accent, or anyone's accent, that's not the role of the cast. The robin was an American Robin because it was an American movie and a London Robin would have looked wrong AND it was a fantasy movie not an Audubon Documentary about ornithology. (this is one of those nitpicky/goof things I alluded to earlier.) As a life long AngloPHILE, I too found his "crumby accent" endearing.

I actually didn't know that robins on both side of the Atlantic were totally different until I visited New York. I just thought the FX guys on the film made a crap bird

sostieDid she whistle in an American or British accent <----
Back to the robins ... I didn't know either that there were cross oceanic differences between robins and wondered why the books kept saying "American Robin" so we are even on that score ! When I was in London last we were still allowed to buy seed to "feed the birds" and watched the huge flocks of blackbirds (starlings ?) come in to roost in trees in the parks. I suppose most of them are gone now.

I suppose most of them are gone now. The only place I knew they did that was Trafalgar Square where you could buy seed to feed the pigeons, but that was stopped years ago. A guy patrols the square now in the mornings with a hawk which keeps most of them away now

Although Kevin Costner's accent in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is pretty bad (when he attempts one). He didn't.

John Malkovich in Rounders. Funny, but not good. I'm Russian, I've heard a lot of Russian accents and it's not one.

Although Kevin Costner's accent in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is pretty bad (when he attempts one). He didn't. He attempted one in some scenes, but perhaps not for the majority of them. I remember reading that he and the director were at odds over whether he should attempt one or not. It ended up with alternating scenes with and without an attempt at an English accent.

Jodie Foster's English accent in "Anna and the King" is not very good.

Donald Sutherland in "Virus". I think there is some debate about what kind of accent it is. Could be a Maritime Canadian accent. At times it sounds like he is channeling Long John Silver though. What makes Costner's accent even worse is at one point he says something like: "here's an example of English courage" and he gets the vowel pronunciation all wrong.

Morgan Freeman I know he did, but what about Christian Slater and ME Mastrantonio?
