From the New World Translation
38:7 = But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was displeasing to Jehovah; so Jehovah put him to death.
What a nice guy. So much for "Thou shalt not kill". So the God (or Lord, or Jehovah, or Allah or Buddha) goes around killing infants because they were displeasing. I seriously doubt an infant has performed any sin. And this is the God to whom you pray?
How many people did the Devil kill in the Bible? Far fewer than God, BTW.

Just for the record, does the Bible tell us that Judah's firstborn was an infant when God killed him? (I'm not aware that it does.)

So the outrage is supposed to be on the masturbation is evil trope, not the God killing babies trope. For that you should go to Exodus and the 10 plagues. I'll expect a thread shortly about it and you should be able to copy word for word!

Well it was God who flooded the world and every one in it save Noah's clan, and that was just to rid it of the giants born to fallen angels. Note: I don't subscribe to the Great Flood story at all but this makes more sense as to why he'd do it at all.

How do you know he was an infant? OK, Er was not an infant. Mea Culpa. Everybody is deflecting the fact that God killed him. God murdered a human. KJV: 38:7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord slew him. With billions of people in this world, surely at least one million are wicked. Why doesn't God kill them? I don't recall reading anything about God killing anyone in the National Enquirer. So the outrage is supposed to be on the masturbation is evil trope, not the God killing babies trope. For that you should go to Exodus and the 10 plagues. I'll expect a thread shortly about it and you should be able to copy word for word! It was not Er that masterbated; it was Onan. How do you know Onan masterbated? Onan could have withdrawn his penis and ejaculated on the floor. And God killed Oran, too. So that's two murders by the God that you worship. What a nice guy. For future reference..... It's nice to know that you are a moron. I must be stupid because I don't understand why you are calling me a moron. Kindly explain it to me using easy-to-understand words. Without an explanation all I can assume is that (A) you don't like what I have to say, (B) you have no logical answer to the issue that supports your belief, and (C) you've decided to use insults rather than logic in an effort to claim superiority.
The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. - Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

The fact that you need this explained... doesn't bode well for your intelligence. You ranted about God killing an infant... who was obviously not an infant. Not the smartest of OPs. A) What you have to say is usually pointless and rather stupid... B) I'm not arguing a belief... Just that you need to actually read the sht that you cry about before you start crying... You might have figured out the story before hand and saved us all some time having to explain it to you now. C) Calling you a moron is about as much of an insult as calling a Blue Bird a blue bird. As far as God having a "Thou shalt not murder" policy while punishing some with death... I'd just point out that the USA has a "Thou shalt not murder" policy.... Would you like the complete list of names of people deemed by the government too vile to live? Punishment for a crime is not the same thing as the crime.

Adding falsehoods to a case doesn't make it stronger. Let what was really said about God stand on it's own without adding something to make it sound worse.

If there is an afterlife, as people who enjoy the Bible commonly believe, then death isn't a big deal. Death is only a big deal to Godless unconscious people.

Death isn't that big of a deal to the human race regardless of belief in the afterlife.
They just talk about it a lot because they don't want it happening to them specifically. Millions of others dying every year (& that's not even counting prekids) is A-OK.

Millions of others dying every year (& that's not even counting prekids) is A-OK. So, everyone thinks, "As long as it's not me or my kids, millions dying every year is A-OK". What an obviously and demonstrably false assertion. It's shown to be false by the many communal (national and international) efforts made and resources spent to try to reduce the numbers of people who die from many different causes. (I won't, at this point, bother to cite all the examples. It's really not necessary.)

I didn't necessarily change my mind as much as I admit that my statement was one of opinion and semantics and it wasn't worth arguing over and especially when you are so good with your mind reading skills. Congratulations on finally winning an argument with me though!

And I'm asking you if you still stand by that opinion when there is plenty of evidence to show you're wrong.
