Really?! That's exciting. The premise of this show is one that can keep going as long as there are shitty movies to make fun of! I'm very dubious of MST3k being rebooted without any input from the minds behind the original series, especially Murphy and Nelson. I don't know if the new crew can measure and I'm certainly hoping they don't make it too political. Making it political would ruin it. I guess that should be a concern with Netflix, though.

If they make it political, they will get a strongly worded letter from me.

I think Hodgson is too smart to let that happen.

Forgot to mention my favorite short; The wonderful Mr. B Natural of course! My husband's favorite short is "The Home Economics Story", and my favorite is "Why Study Industrial Arts?". Of course "Here Comes the Circus" is great too.

Soul Taker is probably my favorite Mike episode, with I Accuse My Parents as a close second. Manos: The Hands of Fate is the most classic Joel episode. I admit to preferring Joel to Mike.

For me Joel has the edge. I think it is more about the type of movies that Joel got to riff. Most of them were watchable without riffing, especially season 4.

Favorite Joel Episode: Gunslinger.
Favorite Mike Episodes: The Mole People, The Thing that Wouldn't Die, Riding with Death, The Final Sacrifice, Jack Frost.
I do have a preference towards Mike.

I'm a huge fan and have more riffs memorized than I'd care to admit. What's odd, though, is that I can't pinpoint exactly when I was introduced to the show.
I grew up watching late night B-flicks on cable. I've always been a night owl. TNT's MonsterVision, USA's Up All Night-- those were my staples. Looking back, I can't recall seeing a single episode of MST3k as a teenager yet I was still familiar with it at the time. Perhaps in the same way I was aware of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast without having ever seen an episode? Or perhaps I stumbled upon it after a Twilight Zone marathon (by far my favorite show as a teenager and still in the top three as an adult) on the Sci-Fi channel? Had I seen it more times than I can recall? Maybe I was lukewarm about it to begin with?
It's hard to say. It feels like the show has always had a presence in my life and yet I can't trace it back to its origin. It was something comforting that was just always there.
Favorite episode, by the way, is Werewolf. I once heard a story of an Englishman who died laughing watching a sketch comedy show. I came damn close to matching him.

Rifftrax got around to Galaxy Invader, also by Don Doler and which you might remember from the opening credits of Cave Dwellers, and that was almost as good.

Speaking of Galaxy Invader and Cave Dwellers, does anyone know why another film was used in the opening credits for the latter?

Has anyone else seen the trailer for the new series coming out in April? I enjoyed it. Still wish I had Netflix. I saw the trailer on the Satellite News website.

Sorry, I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to posting links and pictures. Just google satellite news. The one you want is actually a MST3K fan site. You'll find the trailer link on that site. It might be on Youtube as well.

I'm a fan of MST3K. I liked both Joel and Mike, and loved the concept and what went into the show. Recently, when I saw the trailer for the new season, I started feeling nostalgic and began re-watching it on Netflix. Still enjoy it as much now as I did when I was a kid
