As I think about it, I'd really prefer seeing this being set on Earth-38, alongside Supergirl. Maggie has already been established as a character, and regardless of whether they'd have to recast her or if Floriana Lima would be available on this new series where she could have greater focus; there's no sense creating a new, alternate version of this character, just to have it be set on Earth-1, especially when all of the alternate Earth doubles seen to date have all been played by the same actors/look alike. It would also be interesting to actually expand on Supergirl's Earth, instead of her being an outlier; the multiverse is kind of lopsided right now. And if they are going to have Bruce/Batman retired during the course of this Batwoman series - which on the one hand makes sense to take him out of the equation, while on the other hand it bears shades of Birds of Prey - setting all of that on Earth 38, where the existence of Batman has been hinted at, and where he would have been around for years already; that version of Batman would have had a full career behind him, while still leaving Batman on Earth-1 open and potentially active on the very off chance the powers that be come to their senses and let him play in the sandbox with everyone else. Or at the very least, we can pretend he's off in Earth-1 Gotham doing his thing; occasionally reading about Oliver or Barry's escapades in the paper, mumbling, "Amateurs," before solving a murder at the breakfast table in total anonymity. Didn’t Floriana Lima leave Supergirl to join another show though? If they want Maggie back they are going to have to recast the role or bring in another character. How many love interests has Batwoman had? I believe I heard that as well, but that's where I was saying, if they want Maggie Sawyer and Floriana isn't available, they'll have to recast one way or another. And while it might make it logistically simpler to set it on Earth 1 and just say she's a double who looks different, all of the doubles to date have looked alike and been played by the same actor. And I think it might be confusing to create a new character that shares a similar identity as a character that has already been established in this shared continuity, but has none of the history or familiarity to audiences who also watch Supergirl. It's been convulted just having the likes of Black Siren on Arrow. Plus, like I said too, this would be an opportunity to world build beyond Earth 1. Earth 38 is just as similar to our own Earth as Earth 1 is, but all of the focus gets put on Earth 1 with 3 out of 4 shows taking place there. I can't speak to Kate Kane's full relationship history; I read some of the initial comics that developed her character, but it wasn't really pulling me in as a reader. I believe she may have been involved with someone while at basic training or shortly into her service in the military, which I believe lead to her being discharged. She dated Renee Montoya, who had a long history as a Gotham cop, and before the New 52 became a new version of The Question. And then Kate started dating Maggie, who had transferred to Gotham from Metropolis (much like Renee, Maggie was also another established character from the Superman comics). However that relationship followed the trope of the girlfriend disapproving of their SO's secret identity, without knowing that they're the ones behind the mask.

I like the idea of Rachel Nichols in the lead role, she's stunning but also not unbelievable in the role, Holland I don't know if she'd work, she spent 6 years on Teen Wolf but most of that was just her screaming, so no clue if she's believable in a kick ass role, I hope though whoever they get to play the role has to either be physically fit or atleast gets in shape enough for the first few episodes to establish this is a character at the peak of human fitness like they did with Amell, she's not superhuman so you cant get away with them not looking like they can kick someone shitless, or you know take a punch atleast *cough*Thea*cough*. This has nothing to do with who I want in the role just who I want on TV but someone get Shelley Hennig a role on this show or some other one I will watch, that lady is FAF. Yeah. I would have liked Rachel Nichols in the leading role far more than the actress they chose and I personally think Rachel was better qualified for the role too ‘cause she trained in martial arts and did her own stunts in movies and TV shows. I also think Ruby is too young to play Batwoman too and the actress they got should have been around the same age as Stephen Amell ‘cause Kate is supposed to be around the same age as Batman but then Green Arrow is younger in the TV show than he is in the comic books and they made him younger in ‘Smallville’ too. I am not sure how Ruby Rose will fare as a fighter ‘cause Batwoman is a very physical role and for those of us who have read the comic books know Kate is a very aggressive and physical fighter.
I don’t agree with the hate Ruby received on Twitter for getting the role and found it to be appalling and I didn’t see it but one of my friends did and told me about a lot of the comments and there were a number of homophobic comments people who are trying to blame this all on the LGBT community are conveniently overlooking now and some of the worst ones that she saw were questions asking if Ruby was transgender too ‘cause she looked like a boy and I hate how these online attacks and rants about actresses always turn into an attack on their looks and we rarely see this type of thing when it comes to male actors who are hated but when it is a woman the conversation immediately becomes about her looks much like we saw with Hawkgirl. While I was not a fan of the ‘Arrowverse’s versions of Hawkman or Hawkgirl the comments saying the actress had bug eyes, a face like a horse and was butt ugly were unfounded and mean.

Hell yeah. Add the sidekick. Has there been any female superhero movies or tv shows where female superheroes have had their own sidekicks? Why do males only get to have sidekicks on tv? According to some of the recent rumours I have heard Bette Kane is definitely going to be in the show but they are saying they might hold off on her becoming a superhero until the end of the season and she will find out her cousin is Batwoman and want to become her partner (not sidekick) and Batwoman won't want her at first and will say it is too dangerous for her and Bette will have to prove to Kate she is capable of fighting alongside her.

I heard she got crap for not being jewish and for not being a lesbian, which the 2nd part is hilarious because yeah she is, then when that got put out there the response became she's not lesbian enough or some shit, like fuck off people, don't like her for he role then don't like her for the role, but don't make up bullshit, I am far from thrilled about it but my issue is she doesn't fit the requirements to me, I have seen her in several things but forgot I have because to me she's not memorable or captivating, which is bad for a lead, also apart from OITNB I haven't heard anyone say anything even neutral about her acting, it's always negative, so there's that also.
I cant speak on the general crap celebs get as I tend to not pay to much attention, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true or false, I mean a lot of people made a huge thing about the crap Kelly Marie Tran got after TLJ and stuff, but I remember seeing a lot of crap for Adam Driver and his looks also, but one was taken more seriously than the other, but sometimes it's one of those things where it's both just depends on where you are looking, I know I made the comment about how with Ruby Rose I mistake her for Bieber but that's A: because I have, and B: more a dig at Beiber...who I have also found funny he has been able to pass for Miley Cyrus & Amanda Bynes in the past, which when I told my sister that she near fell off the couch laughing because she could see it also.
As for Ruby's age I dunno she's 32 Amell's 37, 5 years isn't to big a gap, also you don't hire older if you expect these shows to last, older people get the more worn down they get, unless the show hits 7 seasons I doubt they want a 40 year old playing their lead superhero, CW already has that with Cress Williams on Black Lightning, and it's CW they don't want to skew too old now.
I will say I kind of dislike her casting because it feels superficial, like they cast her because she's a stereotypical "tough" looking chick who is also a lesbian, and like you I would have preferred others who could have suited the role better from a physical perspective, or imo a presence perspective, but she's who they cast so lets look to the Brightside, hopefully she knocks it out of the park and we can enjoy her getting a show and stuff.

Yeah. I heard about the crap Ruby Rose got for not being Jewish and a lesbian and the second part is actually something a number of us face online from men and butch lesbians when we are not ‘butch’ ‘cause there has long been an offensive stereotype that if we are lesbians we are all butch much like the stereotype for gay guys all being flamboyant and a lot of us are not butch and while I don’t have anything personal against butches and believe everybody has a right to be themselves and not have to be the way others think they should be I despise that stereotype and there are some lesbians who look down on femininity and think if we are feminine we are weak and I hate that too. I have always been more of a girly girl even though I am a bit of a tomboy and I am not ashamed of that.
It isn’t a compliment when you are told by guys you are too ‘beautiful’ or ‘hot’ to be a lesbian ‘cause it is enforcing that stereotype and there shouldn’t be a standard for how a lesbian should act or look just like there shouldn’t be for hetero women and people who try to push the idea that there is such as the ones we are talking about with Ruby Rose on Twitter do as much damage to us as sexists and homophobes do in many ways and butch isn’t primarily a lesbian term like some of them make it out to be and I have known a number of hetero women who are very butch. Ruby might not be the best choice for the role but I think we should at least give her a chance especially since a lot of fans hated the casting of Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton at first and with Michael Keaton there was a fear that ‘cause he was known for Comedy roles they were going to be make him just like Adam West’s Batman.
Some people forget there are actors who got a lot of hate when they first got roles ‘cause people did not think they were suited to them or were bad actors and they were a lot better than was expected and in time all the hate they got from people was mostly forgotten about and I am not saying that is going to be the case with Ruby ‘cause she might end up being horrible but she could turn out to be a lot better than people are saying she is going to be so like you I am hoping she knocks it out of the park. We won't know until the crossover episode in December and we don't have much longer to wait until all the 'Arrowverse' shows return. Here is an article you might be interested in reading Dazz.
