Let's pretend that the MCU never jumped on the Disney ship and remained as they did during their first phase. Would that be better? Worse? How do you think that would have affected their shared universe?

Better in quality but worse in box office receipts. Got to disagree with you on the first part. Mainly because what blockbusted said. Ike Perlmutter would've been calling the shots. Lets look at some of his highlights. He is a misogynist, racist, and cheap ass. He complained about Disney's food expenditure for press. Result Journalist stole food from the 5 Year Engagement press catering during Avengers press because they ran out of food. He fired Terrence Howard to cut costs and replaced with Don Cheadle he told Andy Mooney that all black people look alike. Marvel had to settle suit with 3 former Black Executives because he called them The Help. Also told one of the women he had a bullet with her name on it. Ike routinely carries a gun on his person at work He's big open carry guy. Tried to fire RDJ in 2014 because he was costing too much money. Technically Marvel has had the final say on script, story and costume on Fox films. He refuses to execute those rights because it would cost to much. Speaking of Fox he tried to negotiate with fox to put x-men and FF characters in MCU films. He low balled them and then kept on lowering Fox's financial cut while keeping Fox's responsibilities the same. Fox Backed out in response Ike cut FF comics and reduced X-men comics. Stating why should do free press for Fox. He cut out comics that were doing fine that people liked to spite Fox. He hates female superheroes. He went on a rant on how female heroes are horrible during Sony Negotiations. Sony wanted to do a female spider-heroine movie. |

So any movie made after mid 2011 would've had Disney's fingers in the pie. (so there is influence is Cap First Avenger and The Avengers I'd say) Feige was fighting Perlmutter tooth and nail up until 2015 when they reorganized and Feige answered to Disney not Perlmutter. I think Feige fighting for RDJ in 2014 is what finally made Disney Restructure. Well that and there were rumors in 2014 that Feige was going to quit. Some one called him the most Employable Producer on the planet during those rumors. I think if Ike was left to run things without the bank rolling of Disney he would've nickle and dimed the series to death. Even with Disney paying the bills he still tried to nickle and dime the movies. You know how back in the day a sequel would have lower budgets than the original so quality went down a bit and so did revenue so they kind of equaled out? I think the MCU would be that way instead of the way it's gone. Every direct sequel in MCU has made more money than the one before it except Age of Ultron. It dipped down 100m. Still made 1.4b. I mean it was common knowledge that Marvel was stingy. I know a lot of the charm to some people about Fox is the grounded nature. And for movies like Logan that works perfectly. In the grander movies I think a little more fantastical would've worked. Especially closer to comic book accurate uniforms. Marvel could've forced them too, but Ike wouldn't do it because of the minimal cost to go back in forth to approve it. They did good in First Class to try and get closer to the 60's uniforms which worked for that movie, but except for the final shot of Apocalypse and First Class that's all we got. (And Deadpool but was going with straight X-men movies) Hell Marvel could've quashed the redesign of Deadpool in Origins. I mean hell for Marvel to approve the change in look and powers of Negasonic they got to use Ego in Guardians. They used that ok to leverage Ego. Personally I would've quashed the flight suits in Apocalypse too but that's just me. |

Common knowledge in the industry that Marvel was stingy. Wasn't trying to be bitchy there. I've heard interviews of people associated with marvel or worked with them that said that.

Can't really say. Of the first five MCU movies, the ones that were made before they became a part of Disney, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America and to a lesser extent Thor are considered amongst the worse MCU movies.
Four of the five non Disney MCU movies are bottom/low tier. Could be coincidence or not but they have at least improved since then. That might have nothing to do with Disney though.

Well before Disney Ike Perlmutter called the shots.
We wouldn't have a Black Panther or a Captain Marvel film with a female lead.
For better or worse marvel is better off under Disney than they were under Ike Perlmutter.

And I don't know how much I can state this, but Ike Pulmutter would've strangled the movies under his control. He was already starting to do it. And he would've fired RDJ in 2014. And likely Feige would've left too. |

Ironman 3 was Disney MCUs first proper involvement. Everything about the film was different to phase 1 films which were in contrast more grounded, gritty and deep. Watch Captain America 1 today and compare it to Dr Strange, Antman and Ragnarok. Completely different. You can blame Singer for no costumes. The flight suits in Apocalypse completely sucked I agree, at least have the yellow ones from FC |

I enjoyed Phase One a lot. It's what got me so excited for the original Avengers movie in the first place. So I wouldn't have minded if they remained. Ike's days were evidently numbered.

The answer is simple. The MCU would have gradually petered out due to a lack of resources and the clout needed to attract high-calibre talent (in front of and behind the camera).
