god loves man kills wasnt very good either, i dunno why x fans say it is. No, it was very good. Its one of the best stories that shows Magnetos tentative yet sympathetic relationship to the Xmen and was also one of the very few stories that challenges religious doctrine of prosthelytizing by extremist preachers in mainland America. i read it cause i wanted to see what the hubbub was about. it was nothing special. stryker was too crazy and 1d to take seriously so the religious stuff just came off as silly.
and the comics again waste time on magneto, just like the movies.

Watched it again fairly recently and I have to say it hasn't help up very well. It's still one of the better X films, but considering how terrible almost all of them are, that isn't saying much. Top Tier: Logan Deadpool First Class Second Tier: X2 Garbage Can: Everything else. It blows my mind how many people hold DoFP up as a quality X-Men film. It was every bit as awful as X3 or Apocalypse, so much of the story makes absolutely no sense at all. simple. I think you need to ask yourself how people came to the conclusion that it was much superior to the best MCU movie in 2014. as always poor winter solider. I think the reason mcu fans find it awful was because in 2014, mcu FINALLY made a grown up film only for it to be dismissed by the superior DOFP, that was awful and heart breaking for MCU fans. notice only MCU fans call it awful? that was why. top tier= first class, what we call an alternate best film along with deadpool, a movie black panther is a poorer quality off. its been 4 years, get over it, but also prepare when mcu xmen fails to get to the quality level of DOFP and is destroyed by fans, film makers and critics who wont be able to lie that xmen is haha jokey childish comedy like most mcu movies are all thanks to films like DOFP. the best comic film since tdk as of 2014 poor winter solider. dofp wasn't better than guardians of the galaxy 1, that's why guardians got better reviews and has a higher rating. guardians was the best cbm of 2014.
dofp lost to nobodies like the guardians, thats awesome.

Stryker was a crazy fanatical religious extremist. So like real life then, check. Theres plenty of stories where Magneto isnt a prominent figure. But since hes the most popular villain, of course the early films would capitalise on that.

You mean like x3? Much better than the contrived internal conflict we got in Civil War. Not just once, but twice with the laughable He killed my mom melodrama.

in x3 they wussed out and didnt go far enough. civil war did it right, especially since they built up tonys character right to want to kill bukcy over that. x3 has the cure come from nowhere and its not used ever again like the dofp future scenes. the accords stuck around all the way into infinity war.

You mean like Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy? You realize being the pro-MCU version of summers8 does not give you any credibility in any conversation about CBMs, right?

He was absolutely a one dimensional zealot who hated people because reasons. They spent zero time exploring his character and he spent the entire film shouting and glaring. He was a crap villain. I love Guardians, it's one of the best MCU films. I'd even argue that the generic villain worked best for such an offbeat action comedy. But you have to admit he was a cardboard cutout.

They went far and beyond. The decision to have Rogue end up taking the cure is already controversial enough, without mentioning the characters they killed off knowing at the time they wouldn't come back in a direct sequel like Infinity War Part 2 will. Not everything has to be set up in previous movies, and neither does the cure. The phoenix storyline was set up though. X3 gave more substance around government control than Civil war did.
The accords where forgotten about after the first 30 minutes of Civil War. The last 2 acts of the film are about Zemo coming up with a contrived plan to get Iron man and Cap to fight each other because he somehow captured on camera the killing of Tonys mother by Winter solider on a random back alleyway in the 70s.

they didn't go far. we should see some xmen rebelling to attack the cure place themselves instead of the brotherhood and magneto. the cure was never brought up again likein dofp when they should have used it again along with sentinels but dopf was full of plot holes.
no, the accords were in homecoming and mentioned in infinity war. and zemos plan was fine. he even said that something outside like tha accords would never destroy the avengers but making them figfht over something internal would. its like joker and dent in tdk.

The students at Xaviers mansion all abide by Prof X's ethos of non-violence and that their powers should be used responsibly. So no, they shouldnt be acting like terrorists and blowing up medical facilities. The cure didn't need to be brought up again. In DOFP they probably killed Leech as a part of the cullings. Passably mentioned. And no he didn't mention the accords in his ''villain explains motivation scene''. Civil War isn't about the accords, its about Zemos contrived plan. AKA Fake internal conflict that is forgotten about in IW (like I predicted it would be)

[/p][/quote] The only film that failed at internal conflict was civil war. Go watch the movie again, the debate and "conflict" about the Sokovia Accords and government involvement ENDS after 30 minutes. The story in X3 about the cure is present from start to finish. And the way internal conflict is handled in CW is silly, by having a playfight in a public airport. Look at how X3 deals with it No playfight around the X mansion because some disagree with introducing the cure lmao. But hey, as long as that airport scene is cool and funny thats all that matters right, regardless of how it is tonally out of sync with the rest of the movie.

god loves man kills wasnt very good either, i dunno why x fans say it is. Putting aside some of our more over zealous friends here who enjoy pilfering video clips from YouTube to assert their tenuous hold on reality, I'd like to respectfully ask you why you feel that God Loves, Man Kills isn't a good story? It's one of my top ten favorite X-Men stories. I still enjoy reading it to this day and, it seems particularly relevant to me in today's political climate. That said, I have noticed an alarming trend of revised critical analysis of God Loves, Man Kills that asserts that the story is dated, gratuitous and heavy-handed? Any notes you can share are greatly appreciated.

If I put X2 on my list of MCU movies it would be #21. That's not bad.

That's fair, I can admit that it is not a perfect accomplishment. GL,MK's dialogue was written during a very different era of comic books, tastes and styles have obviously changed since then. It's a great book though and, I still recommend it to younger readers who are looking to get a handle on what the X-Men stand for and what makes them unique amongst super heroes. Thanks for your input.
