usually delivers the knockout blow.
Examples:
1. DC was the first one to venture into the superhero shared universe concept when they created the Supergirl movie, but they never really were able to do anything about it. Years later the MCU came out and smashed all kinds of records with their interconnected cinematic universe model.
2. DC was the first one to make a hero vs. hero showdown movie in BvS... then the MCU came out with CW and knocked it out of the water.
3. DC was the first one to make a movie about a metal-armored superhero with Steel.... which is now completely forgotten and has nothing against Ironman.
4. DC was the first one to make a major superhero movie casting a black lead (Steel)... yet audiences recognize Black Panther (and before that Blade) for having that title.
5. DC was the first one to make a movie with an intergalactic police force dressed in green and black (Green Lantern)... how much are you willing to bet that Captain Marvel will eclipse it?

(and DC really didn't even if it counted...their characters may have been their but DC had no involvement. And meteor Man beat Steel 6. DC were the first to do a second re-boot of their top character with Man Of Steel..then MCU beat it critically and at BO with Spider-Man Homecoming 7. DC were the first to do a female led Superhero movie Catwoman....and Marvel topped it with Elektra by being less worse Looking at it the other way round... Marvel were the first to bring a team of comic book superheros on screen in The Avengers...DC couldn't deliver with Justice League Marvel were the first to bring a team of comic book criminals/misfits on screen with a popular music heavy soundtrack in Guardians Of The Galaxy...DC couldn't deliver with Suicide Squad

Congrats, DC has one win,... for now, but Captain Marvel will more than likely exceed Wonder Woman, hence, as the OP put it, DC delivers the first punch, but the MCU well deliver the knockout blow. And the X-Men don't necessarily count. While it is an assemble, its one of characters introduced in a single film already as a team. The OP was getting at bringing together a group of characters from their own films into one as a team. Nice try, but you don't get that point.

1. This is just a slightly odd personal opinion, but I've never felt like the Superman/Supergirl movies counted. Just because Superman and Supergirl are so closely tied together. It's like if Marvel had made a Thor film back in the day and had followed it up with a Lady Sif movie. It's why I never felt like Batman and Robin would really count even though both Robin AND Batgirl are in the movie as well. Those characters are too closely tied together. George Clooney saying that line about "This is why Superman works alone" seemed like much more of an example of a shared universe concept.
2. Yeah BvS was a bummer but CW is way overrated, in my opinion.
3. I think we'd all like to forget that movie exists.
4. DC and Marvel can suck it. Blankman and Meteor Man rule all and I would do anything to see a Blankman vs Meteor Man movie. Anything.
5. Hmm. Didn't notice the green and black part. That's odd. I think Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel would be more comparable though. And as excited as I am for Captain Marvel, I'd be really surprised if it was better than Wonder Woman, or even made more money than WW.

I think Captain Marvel has a good chance of topping WW's Box Office. Wonder Woman wasn't really that big a deal outside the USA with exception of a couple of countries. Whereas it seems seems is a way stronger brand than DC outside the US. Domestically it might not beat it though.

DC were the first to do a female led Superhero movie Catwoman....and Marvel topped it with Elektra DC was the first one to make a successful solo female superhero movie. MCU has gone 10 years and 20 movies without a solo female superhero movie. So what is it to be...MCU compared with DCEU, or DC compared to Marvel...or are you just going pick which suits you to suit your argument? See you had to add the "successful" in there, because frankly the rest of the sentence is BS. DC became involved in their film production when purchased by Warners in 1990. Marvel became involved in theirs in 1998. DC went 14 years until they made a solo female superhero movie. It took Marvel 7 years with Elektra. But let's forget that because Wonder Woman made money....shame it took DC nearly 30 years to put one of the most famous comic book characters ever on screen...what trailblazers! And they had the first female CBM director as well....oh wait they didn't, that was Lexi Alexander with Punisher:Warzone in 2008. OK so maybe I should have pointed out in that respect I was talking MCU/DCEU. Or that I meant actual individual heroes from other films teaming up. And whilst the X-Men isn't quite the same, based on what I posted...I can see why you claim X-Men was first. Ok I give you that. So Marvel STILL beat DC with a Team up movie with X-Men.

Fair point on X-Men though one can say Marvel was the first to bring together a team of heroes from already established solo characters to form a supergroup.
DC also BTW tried and failed twice before that and took 40 years and 30 films before they got around to Wonder Woman, oh and DC has had all access to ALL their major heroes where as Marvel has had most their most iconic female heroes at other studios, but you know you keep trying make it seem like DC is perfect, you deranged gibbon.

Without Spiderman and X-Men's contribution to Marvel, Marvel is inferior to DC. must be the reason mcu fans tried to force them to the mcu.
Let's look at actual fact. with no spiderman or xmen meaning things like Logan, Spiderman 2, Spidermam/X-Men TAS, Spiderman2/DOFP/X2 , marvel's classic literature from spiderman, x-men, fantastic 4, X-Men Legends, Marvel vs Capcom .....All don't count.
1. Marvel MCU has no movie that can go to to toe with the best of DC movies aka the TDK trilogy.
2. DC has superior animation to marvel , it has been that way since the disney take over, the birth of the dc animated universe and more DC cartoon shows.
3. DC has a better tv universe because they don't lie and pretend it is part of the movies , meaning the universe can grow on its own and strengthen the mythology of DC. unlike marvel that is now all about MCU this and MCU that ..no freedom or thinking.
4. DC has superior games. spiderman ps4 is finding some success now because it was inspired by the Batman Arkham games and not homecoming and it is not made by Marvel but SONY. honourable mention goes to Injustice DC vs Mortal Kombat.
5. DC also still has better comics, marvel comics went down the drain once disney started making it fit more like their movies
So yeah...DC is stronger and better than marvel. once upon a time it was opinionated but after disney came along and disneyfied marvel and made everything about team up, set up, cinematic universes with zero creativity. Marvel is inferior to DC.
DC will continue to grow and expand and get better and continuing to push boundaries. marvel is now basically peter pan. that is why all their movies are childish comedy garbage and they have some of the worst cartoons that is even too childish for kids...and no one can tell the difference between marvel movies and hannah montana.
for mcu fans bragging about movies at least most people respect the best of the DC movies and take them seriously.

In 2016, the media and critics bias was clear. to see the media and critics show so much hate to dawn of justice because it dared to take itself seriously, wanted a more realstic superman, and was unapologetic for not been haha funny jokey comedy was the real joke.
Sure the 3rd arc of Dawn of justice was poor in writing and batman's characterization could have been more likeable but this are the same critics that gave age of ultron, gotg 2 and iron man 3 a pass for nothing.
they all hyped up civil war and over-praised it, once again another marvel movie with great potential to be as compelling as DOFP or TDK, if I was to pretend Tony/Steve/Bucky had a conflict like Magneto/Mystique/Xavier or Gordon/Dent/Batman. but no civil war ends with more fist fight and not a clash of intellect like DOFP or TDK. where you can understand the villain views of Two face or Magneto and those caught in the middle like Mystique and Gordon and those who want to do the right thing like xavier and batman.
WHOOOO....Someone ask me again why I love films like TDK and DOFP? It's about character depth and good writing. not just fights and explosions.
thank goodness by then end of 2016, creative and daring films won. The comic film of 2016 went to Deapdool as civil war faded to just another mcu formula movie by the end of 2016.

If you're talking about Wonder Woman then yes, DC beat MCU to the punch (as was the entire point of this thread) when it came to making a successful female superhero movie. Whether MCU's Captain Marvel will be able to land the knockout blow in this category remains to be seen. That said, the MCU making a successful female superhero movie in 10 years after 20 movies is still a better metric than DC only making one after 39 years and after 25 movies. As for the X-men, this thread was specifically comparing DC and MCU movies. Don't know why you brought up the X-men movies.

All fair... only if you consider that all the DC movies you're comparing it to were fail according to the average MCU fanatic. When you compare to the lowest common denominator you're not doing your argument a service.
Of highest note to me are these two points:
3 and 4- Steel is a horrible movie. That would be like me bringing up the Roger Corman Captain America and Fantastic Four movies. No one takes them seriously, so much so that it demeans the point you're making. and 5- The real comparison to Green Lantern would be GOTG's use of the Nova Corps. They're Marvels equivalent of the Green Lanterns; not anything that will be found in Captain Marvel.
