A "honey wagon" is a vehicle that's used to transport human waste collected from outhouses, septic tanks, and latrines. In the old days, it was an actual horse-drawn wagon fitted with barrels into which pans of filth were dumped. Nowadays, it's typically a vacuum truck that sucks up the waste and pump it out at the processing or disposal site. In the film and tv industries, a honeywagon is a portable toilet unit for cast and crew that may take the form of a specialized semi-trailer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeywagon_(vehicle)

In Jaws, Murray Hamilton plays the mayor of Amity Island.
He later plays a priest in The Amityville Horror.

The Actor I have ALWAYS known as Joseph COTTON is, in reality, Joseph Cott En … which might explain why it was always so difficult to find his filmography. Spell it correctly and here he is

While doing a little research on actor Stephen McNally, I ran across a title that sounded like it might be a prequel to “Key Largo” but from what little I can learn about it, it seems not to be. It’s called “Johnny Rocco” (1958). The title character is played by 13-year-old Richard Eyer (Friendly Persuasion, The Invisible Boy). What few comments I can find make this film sound like pretty weak tea. The plot, as I understand it, is that young Johnny’s father Tony Rocco (McNally) is involved with the death of a cop. Johnny was a witness so the mob puts out a hit on both father and son. It sounds awful and I would love to see it.

Saw a decent noir called The Second Woman (1950) starring Robert Young and Betsy Drake. See the full review this Saturday on the weekly thread. Drake did a fine job. I don’t remember ever seeing her before. Turns out she was the third of Cary Grant’s five wives and the one who whose marriage to him lasted the longest, 25 December 1949 - 13 August 1962.

SWOOSIE TRUST KURTZ - Her name "Swoosie" is derived from "Swoose" - half swan, half goose - which was the name of the B-17D bomber that her father piloted in World War II.

RIP TORNseems to be a name made by the same fella who named Tab Hunter and Rock Hudson etc and yet it is not ! Rip Torn was born Elmore Rual Torn, Jr. on February 6, 1931 in Temple, Texas. "Rip" is a family name, taken by generations of Torn men and bestowed on Elmore by his father, who was also called "Rip".
His father : Elmore Rudolph Torn, was an agriculturalist and economist, credited with popularizing the custom of eating black-eyes peas on New Year's Day.
He is a cousin of Sissy Spacek (on his mother's side of the family)

I knew that about Cotten, but it took me years to get it through my head to include the "D" in Walter Pidgeon, and omit a "K" from Frederic March. And I still have to check to verify that Hepburn is Kath arine and not Kath erine.

I knew that she was a script doctor but didn't know which scripts she had worked on :
"After Carrie Fisher's success in adapting her own semi-autobiography Postcards From the Edge (1990) to film, the actress was hired as a script doctor for several major movies. In addition to punching up the dialogue for Lethal Weapon 3, she worked on Hook (1991), Sister Act (1992), Outbreak (1995), The Wedding Singer (1998), and even the Star Wars prequels."

That puts you ahead of me, not only with Hepburn, but with relatives. Like Marilyn Monroe, my mother was born Norma Jean, or so I thought: I didn't find out until after she passed nearly 20 years ago that her middle name was spelled Jeanne!

Val Lewton, one of the few persons (maybe the only person) to get auteur credit for films as a producer – bypassing his directors – is famous for dark disturbing movies like “Bedlam” (1946), “Cat People” (1942), and “The Body Snatcher” (1945). But did you know that his last film as producer was…. a western?!! It’s true. It is “Apache Drums” (1951). I downloaded it last night and will watch it this evening and report on the weekly thread next Saturday.

Yves Montand, the quintessentially French actor & singer, was actually born in Italy, and had some Jewish ancestry on his father's side, although his mother was a devout Catholic. His birth name was Ivo Livi. The family left Italy for France to escape the Fascists in 1923, when Yves was about 2. Allegedly (in IMDb trivia notes), the surname "Montand" came from his mother's habit of calling out to him, "Ivo, monta" ("Come upstairs, Ivo") when it was time for him to come home as a child. He got his big break in the entertainment industry in 1944 when he was discovered by Edith Piaf, who dated him for a few years and who put him in her act.
