A fish angrily clutches an umbrella, furious he's still getting wet. Now you are just trying to piss me off. Don’t let him. The guy’s a jerk who keeps doing this or some such variation just to get a rise out of people. Just put him on ignore.

There is a masochistic side to me anyway, meaning I get a bit of a thrill by my own anger and annoyance. I didn’t mean consciously, he just keeps doing this. I don’t know why. At least for me, I think it’s best to ignore him.

I too think that the topic has more than run its course and the OP left a long time ago...

Straight up children’s horror with little to no humour... hard to pinpoint. Films like Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) and Lady in White (1988) favour a serious approach, but they do have elements of fantasy and adventure too.
Invaders from Mars (namely the remake) might be borderline.

I assume you finished it by now? Nope. I have been using imdb 2 for the last hour. I no longer care about the topic anyway. You should finish it because it's a solid movie. A lot better than those live action ones. FWIW, it gets darker once they get to the titular Zombie Island. Looking back, I can't believe some of the sh*t they got away with.

I just got sidetracked.

Now I’m kinda feeling bad that I let what most of us consider a silly topic go on too long. I thought it was just a fun conversation. Sorry, guys.

It does get less humorous in the second half but I think the movie is quite humorous overall. I would personally classify it as a horror-comedy. The last 20 minutes is actually my least favorite parts of the movie, exactly because it starts being a lot more serious.

Kudos for going so far as to actually watching the movie for the discussion, where vitty couldn't be bothered to post much more than "Nah".

I like Scooby-Doo, but had never even heard of the movie before. It was exactly the kind of thing I felt like watching at the time.

rudeboy politicidal @moviebuffbrad Nalkarj I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you've mentioned horror movies targeted at children mixed with the other genres I mentioned or horror movies targeted at adults. It got a PG rating, but it was a technicality. I don't think that's horror. Was The Blob made for kids? I don't know; I've never seen it. Goosebumps (2015) is half comedy though. Considering what the OP asked, it's a bit ironic that on imdb it lists adventure and comedy, but NOT horror. I've seen it and I agree with that listing. The horror felt very secondary. Hmmm... Let's say under 13. For me, putting 'horror' and 'children' in the same sentence is an oxymoron. I would never let any children of mine (if I had any) watch anything that was even remotely 'horror'. I think the world has enough of that in it anyway. While I was researching about this topic, I came across this video (which I had already seen a long time ago but I had forgotten it). What do you think about it? I disagree with his conclusion. It would be impossible to keep children away from and unaware of horrible things unless we kept them secluded in a room somewhere, but I don't think it right to show them horror in order to inure them to it. Saying that we should let them see such things is wrong, in my opinion.
